- It's been awhile since I have released a drum cover due to a pinched nerve in my neck causing pain and numbness in my right arm...but after weeks of PT I was able to bang this one out. I built a kit to match the huge 80's verb sound from their title album. I think I got it right!

John was my dad, you killed it man. Keep on rocking, thanks for keeping his memory alive.
Wow man what an honor to meet you (if only virtually). He was a big influence on me growing up as I knew he was also from the shoreline here in CT. I currently live in New Haven and used to play in a few Hair Bands in the early 90’s when Steelheart got popular. His huge kit and even “Huger” drum sound was the perfect compliment to Mike’s amazing vocals! I still love to jam to their title album as well as the follow up “Tangled under Reins”. In fact “Late for the Party” was my housemates anthem when we rented a big old farm house where we had keg parties all summer long! Sib my channel and I’ll dedicate the next SH cover to you sir! Rock on!
This is one of those songs where, if you're driving and almost home and it comes on your radio (fat chance nowadays!) or cd player/XM radio, you drive around the block a few times until it's finished....THEN you can pull into the driveway.
Or slowly into a gas station during the outro.
Awesome Job🥀Johnny Fowler would have been impressed he was the Best Drummer I've ever heard🥀🕊🥀
You took me back to my youth in the 80's with those drum sounds. Closed my eyes and imagined listening to the song "back in the day" Yep, you nailed the sound and the cover. 🥁👏
Taking it back to 1990! Really great drumming! 🤘🏻🍻👏
Great cover! John was one of the true unsung heros of 80s hard rock. For more John Fowler drumming goodness check out the song "Hooked on a good thing" by Rage of Angels, the band John and Frank were in before joining Steelheart.
F'ing Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!!
You knocked that out of the park John Fowler was a great drummer great cover
Thank you Mark! Yes, John was a talented musician, great showman, and all around nice guy. He grew up about 20 miles south of where I live and I used to see him in his early years. RIP Mr. Fowler
My God that is so powerful!
Hey thanks Dennis! I tried to capture the original sound and energy from the studio recording
Rip John fowler...steelhearts drummer who created this awesome song...
I didn't know about him passing until I just saw your comment, I had the good fortune to hang out and enjoy a few drinks with Fowler years ago when he was on tour, He was very much a happy people type person, He always stuck out in my mind and he's a lot of fun to be around. Absolute amazing guitarist and to pass at such a young age is very sad. He will forever live in my mind and heart.
@@portal2passion You're talking about the loss of both John (drummer) and Kenny (guitar) right?
IMPRESSIVE, wow
Your kit sounded great!! Well played too!! Good to hear that you are doing better!!
Man, this video sounds and looks great. Awesome job man...
Wow, the sounds blow me away. Great and powerful! really good 80s vibes man. and your drumming is awesome. A great job. Hope your pinched nerve is still okay.
Awesome drumming!
Very good, love this song and you did it justice.
Great job Roland!
And btw, awesome solo at the end...
You totally rocked the hell out of this one. Awesome to hear this song again. And as always you nailed it bro.
Drums by Pauly G funny thing I just found out one of my work mates roomed with the singer when they were called Red Alert here in CT!
It’s a small world hey.
Awestruck. Just amazing.
Dave Kirby Thanks so much! I love the huge drum sound they got on this album!
This guy has mad skills
Thanks brother!
I love the drums.
We have a lot in common then!😉🥁
Stunning visual and sonical video, Mike. What a huge 80s sound.
I was surprised I could pull it out of the module itself! Thanks for watching Mike
Great job. Forgot how much I love this tune. ( Also forgot how much the intro sounds just like White Lion's Wait!!)
Haha thanks Ted. I never put those two intros together in my head...Now I’m going to have to see which came out first lol!
mfournier01 I had to go back and check too! White Lion was ‘87 and Steelheart was ‘90
Really great video and your sound is so freaking awesome, brilliant my friend!👍👍🤛
Can't beat that huge 80's drum sound :)
Good Job man!!!!!!
Wow big sound. The kit and mix sound great. First time hearing this song- it has an 80s vibe (Sammy Hagar comes to mind). Solid rocking drumming.
rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato this was my era and I played in a hard rock band for many years. Still fun to jam out to.
That's some great drumming Mike! Keep up the good work my friend! :)
TOM KLOEHR Thanks a bunch Tom. I need to work on my timing. Been slacking lately so I'm doing some metronome drills. Your technique inspires me to get better
Very nice!!
Great cover! Great production! Well done on getting back on your 'throne' ;)
Colin Eksteen Thanks man, it was a bitch not being able to play for so long. Time to go back to the gym...
Get totally well and rocking man!!
Ya nailed it brother just like my boy John used to do...he was a great drummer...miss John alot
shane johnson Did you grow up with him? I heard he lived in Norwalk, CT. I’m not far from there but never had the chance to meet him. I love his drum style and the old Steelheart albums. Thanks for checking it out
As soon as I saw you playing I could tell you are a technically proficient drummer and that playing drums is in your heart, ... just like me, i play drums and guitar. I also had a TD-30 kit for a while and was gonna do what you're doing with videos. but I still need to learn how to edit videos, Keep up the great work brother ! \,,/ :D \,,/
That’s awesome man. I respect any musician that can play more than one instrument well. That’s not me lol! I do love the drums and my TD-20 though. Thanks for checking out my channel! The Td-30 is very similar to the td20 expanded. Video editing is trial and error but there are many user friendly programs out there. Rock on brother!
No words, absolutely awesome. Love the sound of your drums, man so powerful. Are you able to share your settings?
que genial que suena esa bateria ,nunca tuve una

Kate Kuziakina Thanks young lady! Your talent impresses me. Keep it up!
thank you :)
Nice video sir.
VINZ ABARICO thanks dude!
I don't listen to the song anymore, just this awesome drum version
Wow! Huge compliment man! Thanks for that
Nice job man, found this linked to John's (RIP one of my drum heroes) son GalacticSeabass, who I'm presuming you probably know since you hung out with his dad John some. I play a Roland TD-6 double kick kit at my church as a praise & worship leader with my wife! I need to look into getting a better sounding "verb" kit, but we don't actually have a real band. I play drums over everything and sing lead on most of it...the "verb" kit would get lost in mix...but you nailed it! Personally I think "She's Gone" is my favorite Steelheart song. I'd like to see you play that...it's not as hard, just good solid drumming! BTW You should check out John's incredible work with Christian metal band "Rage of Angels" before Steelheart. This was where I discovered him as one of my drum heroes next to Robert Sweet of Stryper! Great job man!
My wife and I were listening to seasonal music on Music Choice channel 941 while we were eating Thanksgiving dinner and I heard some low chord progressions behind the higher piano notes that sounded like the intro to "She's Gone"...I said no way. I kept listening and finally had to get up and look over at the screen...it was a song by George Winston (1982) entitled "Thanksgiving". I'm just a drummer but I CAN recognize certain chord progressions, etc. I'm wondering if it's just a coincidence or did Steelheart guitarist somehow hear this "Thanksgiving" song and subconsciously (or on purpose) incorporate these (or very similar) chord patterns into "She's Gone"
Good Job man!!!! You like RIP John Fowler
RIP indeed. He used to live 10 miles from me. Nice guy...
Good Luck brother
Why John Fowler never used this sound live? He only used acoustic sounds.
A random recommended video on my CZcams from Mr. Fournier, an oldie but goodie! I just want to know who ripped who off- Steelheart or White Lion? This song sounds so much like White Lion's "Wait". Hope you are still doing good and working on making that come back soon!
Reincarnation from John Fowler
Wiji Desky RIP brother
Yes, I understand, you even play like John Fowler as a drummer god
Dear mfournier01, do you have isolated drum track of this song clip?
Wang Shao-Fu Mine or Steelhearts?
mfournier01 steelheart please~. Your drum solo is really clear and awesome.
Steelheart Track?
What's the story on the cymbals and hi-hat? Those aren't sound dampeners, are they?
No dampeners. The entire kit is electronic and I program the sounds through the module! They can be choked to cut off the sound just like real cymbals as well
