The only bass battle he loses to is against himself.
He never lost any bass battle, he fought a draw with himself after 69 hours a day bass battle lasted 10 days week.
I'm not sure which Charles is better, but they certainly make a good team.
Only Charles Berthoud can challenge Charles Berhoud in a Bass contest
I saw something similar in a hot ones episode maybe something like that?
Man I love the twist that this is a video about perseverance and not some dude feeling totally crushed by someone else's power. Wholesome, motivational, good stuff
Eye of the Tiger ❌
Slap of the Tiger ✅
Ah, clever indeed, but one needs a thumb to slap. So should it be the "Thumb of the Tiger?"🧐
@@crankydonut86 lol, you're right. eye is an organ of organism, and i had to write thumb as an organ, instead of slap :D
Dude's not only has god level bass playing skills but also has mad editing skills as well , awesome video and outstanding playing as usual by Charles .
Yeah, because he's such a monster on bass, I think most people overlook his musical arranging skills, recording/mixing skills, and his video recording/editing skills. Genius level on so many accounts! SICK!!!
The moral of the story: even an Italian plumber with no experience in bass can become Charles Berthoud.
Something about this video is so real. Have we all been there at some point in time? Perfect song for telling that story too.
No punches pulled, just straight slapping
Crazy! I’m trying to reach that next level of bass, i’m excited to get there
There's always a next level and it's always exciting when you get there 🔥
Just phenomenal.
Every
single
time.
I love how this was done on a 4-string, just really makes this feel that much more approachable to someone getting into the instrument--greatly appreciated!
This was such a great idea. Depicts how I feel when I listen to you/actually get to play some of the few things I can play like you :)
GREAT STUFF CHARLES !!!
Love the creativity of your idea here, Charles. 🔥
This song is a masterpiece and could become an alltime classic
Battle of the basses by the best bass player I've ever seen or heard, and I'm 64 years old and have been playing the guitar since 1967 when I was only 7 years old. I've worked with and played with MANY good bass players in the club circuit and national bands and if I could have him playing bass in my band I'd still be out and about touring right now!!
64 years old and still don't understand anything about music? That's really sad. :( I have written songs from 1986 on (long gap between about 1998 to 2019) and I wouldn't take that guy as my bass player even if somebody would pay me for that.
what a talented musician and a humble human being - all in one. respect and regards from Sri Lanka
I absolutely love your stuff. It’s not just the bass playing. It’s also the production process
Holy crap, that was amazing!
Not only your spectacular bass playing, but your video editing has improved with everything new you post.
Impressive, as always🤷🏼
I'm always in awe of your talent. You inspire me and crush my ego at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us.
You might be the best base player I've ever heard. So smooth.
Sir Charles, the undisputed heavyweight champion! The video editing is superb and entertaining, and the bass tones are exceptional. Love the sound of the Schecter. Inspiring as always!
Sir, you never disappoint. Keep up the awesome work!
i’d buy the long version of that cover. awesome Charles. 🎉
Well this certainly hits home brutally hard; I didn't start playing bass until I was 50. 18 years later and I still feel like doing the Jaco thing to it when trying to get better. I know there isn't time to even approach this level or anywhere close, but now at least I'm motivated and I'm going to work on tapping this week. Thanks Charles. I think. 😁
Always love to see the Sterling. They sound amazing.
Good Morning Charles! You always amaze me! Nothing like a great song being played by a great guitarist♥
Aí tira som até de pedra!
Excelente essa versão!
Thumbs Up!
Looks like another day of motivation!
I like what you did with the student becomes the master story.
I will be sure to get a Mario hat and Joe Dart sunglasses so I can transform. These must be the true bass mastery secrets.
Great video editing & great playing as always 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😹😅🫶 you watching you in the video is very clever. Bravo Zulu! And the flicker effect toward the end is wicked awesome!
I've said this before, but I'd like to see Charles on bass, Matteo Mancuso guitar and Valeriy Stepanov on keys to form the greatest progressive rock / jazz fusion band of all-time. Drummer? Perhaps Gergo Borlai?
yeahh babyy full song!! training montage theme next?
Love the drums! Also love it whole of course ;)
So much great 80's music to play with!
You are just amazing inspiration. Thank you 🙏🏽
I was expecting this one is on Apple Music already. No. not yet. Nicely played. Thanks Charles.
Nicely done! Thanks.
Excellent edit. Excellent arrangement. Well done!
0:31 Is me after watching pretty much any Charles video.
I say it again: I have never ever seen a better Bassist! Just awesome as always
Proof that only Charles can learn to play like Charles. 😅 I’m off to throw away my Stingray bass.
and only you can learn to play like you. Don't play like him, play like yourself.
Beautiful
Damn, I really did not expect this one to hit so hard :D
Had instant goosebumps once person 2 came into the scene for the first time
Perfect playing 🔥🤘
Congrats on the video work in this one!
This is very, very tasty on a lot of levels (you now own this song IMO), but especially digging the inclusion of what felt like a more improvisational solo in this one! More please!
Always amazing!
Super player !! Congrats !!
We're the true winners of this bass battle
I love that there is a universal bass face and that he does it in this video.
Goosebumps!
Holy shit... Amazing playing! And I absolutely love your bass tone!
He took one of my favourite songs and rocked it! Great job, loved it 😊
I wish I could just watch a video and do the same exact thing as the video. That beginner bassist is a natural if he can do that.
Great technique! That’s the result of playing for many years.
Well done Charles!
So good thanks
To combine them🤯🔥🔥
Right on Charles
As always, amazing.❤
Finally you have revealed the secret of your awesome technique. From Aperol Spritz to Aperol SLAP!
This is so cool and so funny at the same time! 🤩
Charles, you're one of the greatest bass players out there. Not Even kidding
Love that story ❤
Absolutely awesome 😃
Very nice man!!
i always love that tone
Awesome! How about 'Running Up That Hill' next?
So if i buy a digital metronome and leave it on a table ill be as good as you?? he he he EPIC video and arrangement as usual Charles!
Brilliant, as always
Amazing, man!
Awesome! Also needs to be the soundtrack for a streets of rage level.
Simple yet efficient story telling. :)
t'as un Groove incroyable mec 👌
Wow Charles, as always your playing is excellent. I liked the format of this video also, cuz i've been the guy in the hat many times (on a 6 string piccolo bass) and can really relate. It's really great how much your channel has grown as far as subscribers, I only became aware of you through Davie504 one of the first times you were featured on his channel and have followed along ever since
Thats awesome
I suggest savoring this slaptastic bass cover on the rye or the kaiser
Great editing on this one Charlie Bear Too
Phenomenal every time!
Makes one start dancing 💃 even at 67 a Summers.
This dude is a beast ❤
Somewhere, he has a spaceship... because this "man" is an alien from another planet. The planet "Bassupuranus" is what I call it.😊
Thanks for that
ROFL, that subtle zoom on the knob. 🤣
In a crazy twist in fate, it has been revealed that Charles Berthoud is... Charles Berthoud.
*Please sir, if it's not too much trouble, would you consider simply red - holding back the tears from 1985? I love that song and I'd really like to hear your rendition*
Cool vjdeo with a cool point: practice. Practice. PRACTICE.
That was Awesome 😎 I've seen survivor live. I think they would approve of this 💪
I wonder why every cover you do is the best version of the chosen song I've ever heard? Oh... yeah. I know why.
Excellent as always! Big fan of your work! Have a suggestion of a cover I'd like to hear. Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. Super technical but if anybody can pull it off, I know you could!!
That vibrato is crazy!
Really great!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
ok...another background music for my fishing vids, thnx Charles
You were missed in the 80s!!!! Awesomel! 👏👏👏👏

Hello Charles all the way from North Carolina USA. I've been playing the guitar since I was 7 years old and I'm going on year number 57 now of beings a guitar player. I've worked with and played with MANY bands in my life, club circuit and national bands, and have seen and heard and played with MANY good bass players, but you my friend are hands down the absolute BEST bass player that I've ever seen or heard in my 64 years of being here on this earth!! I'd just about give anything to be able to play in a band with you on the bass guitar!! All I can say is keep up the fantastic work my friend and whatever you do PLEASE don't stop making these videos for us to hear and watch you tearing up the fretboard on your bass guitars!!!!!!! You are the cross between Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen of bass players!
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Charles will give you the keys to the Lamborghini! 😊
