3:38 : Armored cars ?! Use 3 Army XP to design the trashiest medium tank instead ; interwar chassis, 1-man light turret, heavy machine gun and riveted armor.
3.2 IC, 160 IC per battalion. Same or better stats for those that matter for garrison templates than the armored cars, which cost 240 IC per battalion at a minimum.
On top of that, the trash medium tank provides a buffer in case your armies run short on medium tanks ; a trash tank is still much better than no tanks at all, so the armored divisions can still fight for a while.
-25% reduce accidents in this scenario is actually perfect becouse you have 40% reliability planes

@@DSiren Well considering only 3 Navies in WW2 had carriers and that Britain was only just behind the USA in carrier operations and once the USA joined the war they both learned from each other. Meaning that all of them knew how to run their planes.

Something I've noticed with the aircraft designer and tank designer... is that even if you get it after you research the tech, if you modify it(adding engine size etc.) the bonus will apply to the design, even if it wasn't on it before. *edit* you can see when you make the maxed out cas 1 that the symbol appears next to the plane, and the bonus applies.

Yep, added with the last patch. It’s especially useful for naval, as you can switch the designer to best suit the ship type (there’s even an officer corps spirit to make it much cheaper).

Wait, is there a way to exploit this ? In theory, you could get a bunch of tanks with lvl1 howitzers (Wich don't require tungsten?) and then right before you declare war you switch upgrade all of you tanks with lvl2 howitzers (Wich do require tungsten?) So you get loads of tanks that would have normally required tungsten without costing tungsten

I love the CAS damage are so incredibly high, it can literally dissolve divisions on each attack. Looking forward to the next video.
"We seem to get more aces when we dogfight." You only get to be an ace by shooting down 5 enemy planes.
Tanks are better than armored cars for garrisons now.
You can make some ridicilously cheap light tanks for garrisons that give 2.5 suppression per battalion and that also have more hardness than the armored car. While costing only 2.4 production per tank. Compared to the interwar cars 4 production cost.
The recipe is simple: Light tank: Use the basic light tank or the inter war light tank. Both cost 2 production at base.
Then you add the heavy machine gun for armament, one man turret and switch to an diesel engine if the speed stays above 4km/t.
This gives you an 80% hardness light tank that literally costs almost half that the armored cars do while taking less damage from resistance by simply having more hardness.
Soft attack as to my knowledge dont matter in garrisons only hardness and suppression do. These tanks got that in plenty. Maybe this is something you can show in one of your videos? The latest beta nerfed this a bit by making the basic tank models more expensive. But the inter war models remain the same cost.
You can also carry this over to normal tank divisions. If you use the basic medium tank. Equip with heavy machine gun, light 3 man turret(it gives best value for breakthrough). Then you use every single module slot for "extra ammunition storage" these modules cost nothing, only 10% reliability, but they add +2 breakthrough and +4 defense to the tank with absolutely no cost. This design would cost 3.60 in the stable version, but its now 4 production for the beta. Each tank battalion will cost 200 production in the beta.
You can equip an diesel engine with a single engine upgrade to bring the reliability higher. Since it will be quite low. These tanks suffer in soft attack but make up with very high breakthrough for their cost. Their armor is decent enough so the the tank division will not be pierced by support anti air with the 1936 anti air gun. You can also equip a automatic gun on the tank instead of the machine gun, it will triple the soft attack.
If you want these unpierceable by support anti tank and 1940 anti air. You simply only need to add a sloped armor module then about 5 upgrades into armor. Then the armor should be high enough so you can push it above the piercing level of support anti tank, with the 1939 tech.
The point of this tank design is not too bring soft attack into the division but very a cheap source of breakthrough and armor. That even some minor nations like Poland or Japan can afford without requiring their entire industry base.
Roach tanks pretty much do everything armored cars do but better. While being cheaper.
This is easy to do but what we all need from you Feedback is a way to counter this strat.
Maybe find someone to play as Germany and you play as either the U.K., France, Russia or US and try counter this. 🤷♂️❤️

After some testing I think using the interwar light tank and making it as cheap as possible is more efficient for a garrison. (heavy machine gun, smallest turret, boogie suspension (not the moterized one because it wil lower your hardness), and a gasoline engine) The tank will cost about 2.4 and is about 40% cheaper than a amored car while still giving 2.5 suppresion per batalion. so a car batalion will cost 4 * 60 = 240 ic for 2.5 supression while a lt batalion will give you 2.4 * 60 = 144 ic for 2.5 suppresion. another reason why armored cars are just not as good as could be hoped for.
Edit: 40% instead of 60% cheaper.

1st thing I do as Germany is research paratroops. I then use the 5 army exp from rhineland to make a 1 bat paratroop template. Train 12 of them. EXACTLY 12 of them. Oh, all production is basically going to guns and cas or fighters. With enough PP, start a justification on France. Build mils. Once you have 15 in guns, start assigning mils to arty and then support. Just be sure your priority is 15 to guns and 10 to either cas / fighters.
Pump out subs. I usually do bathtubs.
Train up 3 stacks of infantry.
Once the Suicide Squads are ready, do an air drop on EVERY vic point in Northern France starting with Paris and taking the highest values in order. They drop in the order you set them up. The transports you start with are enough.
When justification ready, declare. Drop the vics and profit. France is gone in 1936. Do not disband your Suicide squads. Send 1 to the tiny French island next to Canada. 1 to Madagascar. 3 to Saigon and 2 to that chrome rich island north of New zealand. MORE CHEESE!!!!
Do a naval invasion the shortest route from France to UK. Start fabricating on UK when you got 3 stacks and a hundred or so subs. You can build bathtubs, it don't matter. You just need naval supremacy in the channel. Your case, tacs and naval bombers will help. Usually a month or two of bombing the hell out of the channel will clear out the royal navy. Start training a fourth stack of infantry.
When you declare on UK you will need to micro manage. Keep an eye on the invasion. Once it launches cancel the fleets order. Split the surface ships and send them to the tiny island near Canada. Split the subs into three fleets. The biggest will go to Saigon, the other two will go to the other areas mentioned above. Once the naval invasion has landed, begin planning naval invasions to Canada, South Africa, Dutch East Indies, British Raj, Australia, British Malaya and New Zealand. DO NOT LAND ON PORTS. These are 1 bats, their deaths will be immortalized. It is only important that they land and take territory. Once your fleets arrive put them on strike force for superiority and to conserve fuel.
Micromanage your conquest of England. They will hardly have any divisions since it is late 37 or early 38. DO NOT TAKE LONDON. Surround London and take everything else. Use only two stacks of divisions. the third stack will be on the border of Netherlands. Fabricate on Netherlands. It will be super fast since you are at war with allies. When that is done, fabricate on Belgium. Then fabricate on Luxemburg. Don't worry about any other countries. You can do focus to declare on Swiss , Denmark, and Norway. Besides, you kind of want to move quickly gobbling up as much as Europe as you can before Phase 3. One thing I do like doing is a paradrop with one of my spare 1 bat paratroops into Norway and Sweden if it isn't a major. For some reason, it is usually a major so this wont work. You have to capitulate majors. Minors you only need to take a single territory to annex at peace.
Once you have gobbled up as much as you can with your three stacks, take London and wrap it up. What was the point of the suicide squads? You will see at the peace conference when you Annex EVERYTHING.
Oh, before you do the conference, start justifying on USA. So RIGHT WHEN YOUR DIVISION GOES INTO LONDON, start the justification for that super fast justification.
Set up of divisions. Put a stack on bahamas. Do naval landings up the penis of the US, one division per tile starting at Miami and moving up both sides of Florida. You should get three ports. There is sometimes a division on Miami, it is ok. Just surround it and crush it. Put a stack of infantry on the border with New England. Put another on the border with Michigan. The fourth stack goes on your long border with the northern states. Use your divisions coming from Florida and the ones from Michigan to split US in half. Sweep up with the New England army. When the Eastern seaboard falls the US is done effectively. You can do this with only three stacks because it doesn't matter if the US takes western Canada. Just keep in mind you have to take either San Fran or Los Angeles to capitulate the US.
Oh, when the naval invasion into Florida is done, do a single invasion into a non port tile in Philippines with a spare suicide squad. You know the drill for annexing minors. Once you take it, wrap up the war with US.
Step back and take a deep breath. Pan out your camera and bask in the glory of over HALF THE GLOBE being German. I hope you aren't lactose intolerant. It is 1939 if you took your time and you conquered it all with FOUR STACKS of infantry and 12 single bat paratroop divisions.
What do you do next? Whatever you want. Maybe you can do Anschluss if you feel a fancy. While I am going ham from 1936 - 1939 I'm doing the industry, army and air focuses. I would suggest doing the focus to annex yugoslavia as quickly as you can to cock block Italy. Do keep in mind if you do the focus to annex Czech you lose your advisor to build civies faster. Who do yo invite into the Axis? Well, you can't conquer allies so who needs them.

In reality Germany tinkered with dandelion plants for rubber. The experiments only recently came to a real conclusion and with modern technology and machines you can now produce more kilograms of raw rubber in Brandenburg from dandelion sap per hektare than in Malaysia.

Hey dave I just wanted to point out that the CAS designer was not an early pick because now with no step back you can get those bonuses from the designer even after you researched the technology if you create a variant of the equipment. The variant will have the designer bonuses.
I suggest doing the 35 day naval focuses while waiting the manpower to fill the divisions in the field. That is If you don't care about the extra 1pp/day for more than 10 days. Or better yet you could field the cavalry divisions much earlier and switch them and the trained army to the motorised divisions saving yourself from losing any time.
Also while rushing Anschluss is meta you could also do the industry focuses making Germany itself stronger/taller in the long run and all the while Austria will do their own industrial focuses granting you all the industry they did. Then again late game HOI4 is as slow as a snail so do whatever you want with this information.

They changed the way air, navy and tank designers work so you get their bonuses on any model you change after buying them (so you got the bonus from upgrading the CAS 1). Really solid change in No Step Back patch.

If you change design of equipment after getting designer you get the bonus (eg. add 1 point in agility or something else). Works also for tanks and other.

There is this officer corps spirit called continuous strike. Pretty sure it gives insane stats to CAS under red air or something along those lines.

31:20 If you don't go for an absolute meme build, you _could_ also get some heavy fighters (and perhaps even some normal fighters too) and shoot down the strat-bombers (and get air superiority and/or shoot down naval bombers as well, respectively)
I don't think the extra research or needed factories would cut _too_ deeply into your production etc...

The material designs do actually work for old designs in the new update (aircraft, ships, and tanks). As long as you modify it in some way the bonuses will apply. It just won't work for existing planes or tanks unless you convert them. Refitting ships applies materials designer bonuses too.
You could also alternate your air wings in china to give them the max experience, the 75% attack modifier is insane.

production efficiency: every piece of equipment costs an amount of industrial capacity, every military factory produces an amount of industrial capacity. when you assign a military factory to produce a piece of equipment, it produces it at a rate that depends on a certain fraction of its nominal industrial capacity. it starts out low, and then grows to the cap. The cap can be over 100%, but it usually starts out pretty low.
So like, you start a factory on tanks and it produces them at 15% (idk the real numbers) the nominal rate. The efficiency ticks up every day by a small amount. Having a higher cap increases the tick size. Once it gets to the cap it stays there at the max until something causes the cap to change (technology, national spirit).
Did you guys ever notice Italy doesn't have any naval designers? (save for 1 that gives some research)
Italy is missing a ton of things. They have terrible ministers, terrible design companies, terrible admirals, terrible generals, a meh focus tree. The only good thing about Italy is it starts out with a very strong foundation, it just has terrible scaling into late game if you don't conquer everything early.
Here's hoping they are the focus of the last expansion. They really need it.

I've just noticed that Rudolf Hess is no longer a silent workhorse. Now he reduces the cost of heavy fighters. In my opinion with Mr. H's dictator trait and the other silent workhorse you still have a lot of PP.

One small thing, making large stacks of CAS is more effective as they have the same combat width as 1 100 plane airwing. bigger stacks= more cas spam, but if you're a minor you should probably split them because you don't have the production to build that many.

as a long time viewer and hoi4 owner but almost never player, I need this series to continue. I find it's really good to take away a lot of complexity by focusing on a few things that work. otherwise I'm always turned off to finally man up and play hoi4, because it's such so much to learn and know and to get right etc...

For someone like me who does not play HOI on a regular basis this format is much better however I can see why more experienced players would not like it that much but then again maybe they see you do things that they had no prior knowledge of and are now happy to know. Decisions, decisions.
I’ve actually seen the Air Designers work on previously researched planes as long as you upgrade their templates after hiring them.

It does. It was recently changed in the new patch so it makes sense Dave might not be aware of it. You can actually see the icon after he edits the design a bit later.

You could change one little thing in your early setup. Build 10 mils and research the heavy fighter 1 pump a few hundred out and then SBs won't bother you.

I've made a 1941 world conquest with Japan just with CAs and tactical bombers. It's so easy once you get Netherlands, and Dutch east indies, you get all the Aluminium and rubber you need lmao.

Hey Dave letting you know the continuous strike gives 25 percent Cas efficiency instead of the normal 10 which is quite sexy when you think of it
USA and a few other allies did this to Germany in a recent mp game i played. I also screwed MP Japan as China with 10 widths. I hope this gets rebalanced soon,

I found out that going 24 width infantry with Support Arti, support anti air, and maintenance companies combined with a lot of good CAS is unbelievably strong

This is why if you are playing the USSR/UK/USA against Germany, you need to have a heavy focus on destroying the German CAS with anti air divisions and mass fighter production to dominate air superiority. The AI will spam huge amounts of CAS against you and if you can't counter them the you will not be able to hold the armies back.
