No, zebras are not just horses but painted. They are their own distinct group within the genus Equus. The other groups being horses and asses.
And no, that is not the noise they make. The noise they make is called "barking" and it is very distinctive. Everyone who has ever seen a nature documentary knows the noise.
What i know about zebra noises comes from zoo tycoon. How accurate that is is up in the air, though.
They're also more closely related to asses than to horses.
Talking about the sound zebras make reminds me of the tic toc of one sticking its head in a car window and screaming.
@@brigidtheirish I was going to put this down as well. It irks me to no end that the survival game Icarus has literal horse sounds put on their zebras. They've got alien horses, wolves, bears, rabbits, deer, antelope, but when it came to zebras they had the "painted horse" idea as well. Like an ass, but also a different breed. Kind of like how even though wolves are similar to coyotes, you wouldn't call them the same thing.

You must have found the premium koi. See koi are kinda like dogs in that you’ve got your mutt and cull koi that don’t sell for a lot that fish stores stock just for people who want something swimming in their pond without a lot of expense and then you’ve got the purebred Japanese koi that depending on how well their pattern turned out can be worth their weight in gold. Anyway I know a place that sells young koi for I think $10 each but those are low end koi and they’re also babies so they’re only about a hand long.
