I called this out on the shadow side but I'll echo it here. If it wasn't obvious before, the Archon hero talent tree screams "We have no idea how to reconcile the thematic juxtaposition between holy priest and shadow priest". It feels like they picked a spell shared by shadow and holy (which even has different spell effects for each spec) and slapped some procs and triggers on it.
I always saw it as pure Light and pure Shadow. Or something kind of like the archon and dark archon from Starcraft.
I too, was wondering how they'd combine the holy and shadow side flavor wise. Answer is: they didn't :p
So it's just a spell both sides use, BUT.. in regards to gameplay and healing this looks pretty good to me, and I'll take that every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Well, if they combined it, it would've just been a Disc priest.
They really could have just given us cascade and a sort of Archangel/Dark Archangel mechanic for Apotheosis and Void Eruption (capstone giving it another charge) and everybody would have been happy. I bet you anything.

Halo should have been a mid tree passive bonus pair of talents.
Crazy how some simple youtuber commenter came up with a cooler idea of archangel/dark archangel...shit just name the spec "Archangel" and put your idea on it. I like it!

Cascade was such a cool looking spell. And that's the one they took away....

“Cascade” - replaces halo/divine star.
“Cascading Faith” - cascade applies 5s of renew or 10s of shadow word: pain to each ally or enemy it hits”. Both specs could use it, theoretically.
“On the Wings of an Angel” - during Archangel/Dark Archangel you sprout wings, increasing your movement speed by 90% and causing your next leap of faith to cause you to fly to your target instead“
“Divine Aftermath” (comes after spirit of redemption expires for holy) After death, ascend as an avatar of the light/void, dealing damage equal to the killing blow to the attacker and horrifying any who attacked you in the 5s before your death and allowing you to cast one more spell at 200% effectiveness.
I could come up with stuff like this all day. And that’s just on the spot. I just don’t know how they could get this so wrong.
So we're all using archon then because this is infinitely better than oracle.
And Archon is not even good but oracle is just garbage
@jvdpc7 I think the theme is a little stinky like other comments are saying (honestly blizz seems to have no idea what to do with priests these days) but personally I've always been a big fan of halo and this is just, "hey we heard you like halo, so we put some halos in your halo"- the talent tree. I don't like how it basically makes divine star a dead talent, that feels pretty bad for people who use DS, but as a halo person I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the talents lmao

Hmm. I wouldn't love this as an Elf Priest... Naaru are too Draenei-centric to me.
I cannot believe that they had "Halo casts Cascade" as one of the effects in the pre-release Alpha, and they decided not to implement it. I miss Cascade SO MUCH, and I'm sure other Priests do too. I really wish they would give it back to us.
It's a bit disappointing that there is no real "transformation" in this Hero tree like the description says. Would've liked to see us become Kyrian-esque with big wings, radiating light, or big Naaru wings like the Tier set has to be more in theme with Hallowfall.
Overall, I get the gameplay aspect, but I feel like they could've taken this opportunity to give something interesting to a relatively calm and straightforward spec to shake it up a bit.

I LIKE that Archon feels like its JUST Archon for Shadow elements for shadow priest, or JUST Holy elements for Holy Priest. Thats what they SHOULD be. Just because they are shared doesn't mean they need to have crossover elements. Let each spec BE each spec, with their own take on what each Hero Talent Tree should do for them. THats what I interpreted hero talents as from the get go.
Personally im kinda excited about it, but i feel like the center of the tree should be focused on the specs cooldowns, both specs have a 2min (or 1min if shadow chooses) cd where you just go full holy turning glowing yellow or go full void in voidform, and both of those abilites scream archon to me
Archon's thematic cannot be anymore OPPOSITE to what the actual gameplay is; literally *nothing* in the talent tree conveys anything that the description of the hero talent thematic is supposed to be in my honest opinion. I'm not in Alpha but just looking through the talent tree said more than enough for me. It feels like _to me_ that they mixed up the talent tree with some other hero talent tree.

@@AndresZolezzi Like... you would think that the fantasy described would involve some sort of duality mechanic, which would be perfect for Discipline's fantasy though I do understand why Holy and Shadow were chosen, but that's not the case, *_at all._*
couldnt agree more. WHoever wrote the flavour text for archon had no idea what the talents were actually going to be. This one is a complete fail. Like...where is the 'ascension' part, or the 'archon' part? So confused.
@@Xinis I think the Archon hero talent tree should revolve around a Naaru. Maybe you can have perma Naaru pet or something. Shadow can have the sweet Void Naaru. I think that works at least for fantasy and duality of shadow and light.
Maybe a focus around apotheosis and dark ascension?

It looks... fine? I'm happy that we have a viable option that isn't Oracle, but I wish it had a little more flavor. From the description, it sounds like this should be a bigger, flashier Apotheosis/Dark Ascension, but it practice it's.... sure a button that will do some numbers.
I like the cd reduction for sanctify and the aoe healing from halo, I do feel,like it helps the problems we have in dungeons on spread out healing.
I secretly wish they would bring back Boon of the Ascended for Holy Priest, esp for dungeons.

Boon was effective and stronc, but it sucked to go to melee to get stack and it also sucked if your teammates fucked up and you lost your boon bc you had to heal

What they could do is make it replace apotheosis to prevent button bloat
@@AlexanderForsman If people fucked up an interrupt or failed to dodge a mechanic when I popped Boon it isn't really my fault... You just had to stop doing dps and getting stacks and top the group.
Besides that, making a squishy class with 0 defensives like Holy priest going melee to do dmg I think it's a bad approach.
I think some hero talents are meant for people who want to keep their character the same as they are currently without a big thematic shift. Because some people would be upset if their whole classes identity change . I fully expect us to get more option during the saga .
These are essentially gw2 elite specs.

It is odd that it's so different from the description, but I was already wishing I had this on live doing keys today. I think the 30% bigger flash heals you'll get after hitting halo are gonna be so nice in keys and hitting halo before hymn and salv is gonna feel rewarding. It also just overshadows the hell out of oracle so much that it probably needs another rework... Even if they doubled the effects of oracle, there is absolutely no world where you ever play it over this LOL
Archon should make Apotheosis / Void Eruption give the priest free flight while it is active to match the theme.
The new Halo effect certainly looks cool for Holy :) I think what seems good sometimes may not feel exactly like the Organic Evolution of where you feel a class could go... This could be OP though depending on how it scales... :) I liked the Music you had playing by the way during this video -- it created a cool vibe :)
Feels like people are looking for a reason to be mad. This is a legit tree. I am not playing on an RP server, I couldn't care less if the flavor is off. Give me practical nodes on a tree that don't mess up my gameplay. Given Holy's options, this is an A+
The community of this game will always find a way to complain and quick to judge even though they haven’t tried it out themselves.

Yes its simple but it works its not really adding more buttons bloat and its (as you said) not rocket sience)
It will probably be my go to hero spec if oracle is not re re worked.
BUT I 100% agree with you on a few things ;
1 - Sad that its not playing a little bit on the mix of shadow spells. ( Example ; SWP expiration damage give you a "Surge of darkness" and give you a shadowed empowered flash heal ? )
2 - REALLY sad that there is not a version of the tree relying on Divin Star. As you said it completely kill any potential interest we could have to play with DS :(
3 - Another very poor attempt to work with PI *bleh* ... IDK make it synergise with Halo like " if you cast halo while under PI you will have 1 extra pulse from the Power Surge feature anything with a bit of synergy in mind would be better than a flat increase in haste.
Divine Star on Oracle should apply PW: Shield and Mending, with 10% of capacity, on targets.
Asides from the logistics problem of oracle, archon shows how massively under tuned it is. Archon provides 10% healing for 15 seconds for everyone every minutes and 5 bonus halo hits (2 extra out and 3 extra on the way back). Oracle provides 25% on 1 target for 10 seconds, or 5 seconds of cooldown off 3 spells or 5% healing and some overhealing protection. You could triple oracle's effects and it still wouldn't be close.
I was kinda hoping they'd make archon really about the alternate forms of shadow/holy and dig deep into working with those... but this seems okay.
My suggestion for Archon would be to become the aspect of a Naaru during Apotheosis and after Salvation. Increase healing by a big amount, do a lot of Naaru singing and then keep the focus of Halo, simply because for Shadow it can be a Dark Naaru and Shadow also has Halo. They could introduce Divine Star into the whole equation too, I don't get why they left it out.
For some more flavor they ahould have had Halo transform you into an Archangel/Dark Archangel for a short period of time. Use the wing models from the Kyrian/Forsworn and give a hover ability similar to Evokers
I kinda like the halo gimmicks as it is a very simple but cool spell to begin with and making talents around it is an interesting idea to avoid button bloat.
However it is weird that it's basically forcing you on halo over Divine Star it would have been so much cooler if you had the choice between both and each has its own specific buffs to add more variety to the spec.
It looks more and more like they tried to have a mix of very simple specs and more complex ones on each class and this one is clearly the super simple one for the priest.
It's really fun to see the halos going in and out multiple times though and it must feel amazing in raid I bet.
Well I hope that holy is meta next expantion cause these look pretty good, might be even funny to run halo in m+ and replace divine star but idk maybe for high keys?

holy is the best and always will be for me at least but again if you are a pugger you want to be known as meta which I assume monks and druids are meta ish in eyes of puggers in wow
1. The Halo part of the talent tree is lacking imho. They can just "upgrade" Halo to create a new spell. Let's say that the spell would create a "sanctuary" that would boost the power of your holy/shadow spells while also give heal/damage + buff/debuff to allies/enemies that stand on the sanctuary.
2. Apotheosis/dark ascension buff is sick af and fit the image of an archon of holy/shadow spellcaster
tbh i was hoping some merger between holy and shadow abilities for holy priest on this spec...
Anyone else when thinking of Archon "being Blizzard and Blizzard being starcraft" they were thinking the archon from starcraft and when reading the description of archon it sounded alot like that...then you see the tree and think wow im just a pulsing sonar toon now...not what i was expecting

They probably dont mix holy and shadow in holy/shadow tree cause thats pretty much a disc thing
I really thought archon was going to be the SL boon of the ascended button. Surprised they went with halo instead of just giving holy boon back.
I guess to each their own. I am in love with Archon.
It should have been about light and void naaru instead of halo themes. Maybe focusing of buffing apotheosis /Holy words for Holy, and void form/shadowfiend for shadow. They could have a nod choice that buffs halo/divine star for both but they shouldnt make a whole hero talent tree on one choice spell because it negates the other completely.
I honestly think they should give Archon to Holy and Disc and have it centred on “Boon of the ascended” and give Oracle to Holy and Shadow.
Also, they should make Oracle give the same buffs as Fae Guardians did in Shadowlands but I think they should give Disc a healing increase instead of another damage reduction button but still make it a damage reduction for Holy

I'm not a big fan of this flavor, but if they pursue this further, they should at least change the damage nature of halo to do cosmic or twilight damage. So it feels more thematic that you transcend light and shadow.

I desperately wanted Boon back, but I can't say I hate it. I don't mind its simplicity, but I wish it had a divine star version too, like "divine star casts holy nova on first 5 enemy/ally hit". The risk of extra pulls will make oracle/voidweaver the favorable choice for M+. I like its simplicity, but the fact its based on a choice node it just takes away from the spec rather than add to it, divine star is one of my favorite spells and I'm sad its ignored
After the horror of both Oracle iterations I'm perfectly pleased with decent talents and no real downsides. I'll gladly take this.
And at the same time Voidweaver is arguably the coolest hero spec they've shown so far, so no priest spec is truly left in the lurch.

Does seem odd that Apotheosis and Voidform/Dark Ascension wasn't the core focus/activation ability for this tree and they go from there for effects rather than Halo but personally I don't mind Halo (I haven't ever really had a reason to play Halo as I've always been a PvP Priest).
Halo honestly would make more sense being the activator button for Oracle.
All in all I'm honestly fine with playing this tree; I'd rather play anything but Oracle.
Im rolling Archon anyway. Triple Halo with circle coming back looks flavorful as fuck and stimulates my brain with lots of numbers. Imagine rotating some tiny ass buff as an Oracle instead? Lmao. Blizzard, rework Oracle!
Halo is my favourite priest spell, I hate star so for me this is aesthetically very good.
So Halo has a longer cooldown.

Seems better then Oracle but booring... only Halo get a bigger role. And sorry I have to disagree, I wish they would remove all shadow spells from holy completly and convert them to light spells (we don't need them and as mixed class we already have disci tree).

Its another miss unfortunately. Just falls flat for me, not interesting from a flavour perspective, could be so much cooler. Halo seems like an odd choice to base it around and as you say it doesn't in anyway match the description.

Cmon man, everyone is getting massive changes with flavor in their new hero talents but holy priest archon looks very bland. Divine star dies out here and it just doesn’t feel unique honestly. I’d love them to take another look at this please….

When will the Devs understand that giving us choices in our talent trees, then forcing us what talents to choose is the same as just giving it baseline and no choice at all?
Sadly it just seems quite lame, compared to what archons are in Starcraft. Was hoping for something cool like that, but sadly it's just "spaff more Halos out each time you press it (you _did_ talent it, didn't you?)"
Basing the entire hero tree around Halo seems like a really boring move :/
Don't hate it, dont love it. Its kind of a snooze fest, haha. The creativity was really lacking on this one.
This is trash but it doesn't matter, all they care about is getting their money, and they will.
I see my self getting sick of the animation reaaaally quick. They should do a mechanic out of Halo. Like, you cast it, it goes out, press again before it´s on its outer peak, it goes in, and so on for the 2 other exta casts. Would make it more interesting and best of all, would let us decide if we want the so badly needed burst AoE heal we miss and get not as much healing bonus or if we want it spread over a longer time and enjoy more time of healing bonus. Also:
- They NEED to revert the Salvation changes, it just sucks
- Also they NEED to give us S3/4 Tier as Talentpoint. We are whack a mole enough and for M+ it was a big change imo, that for sure should stay in our kit. Can´t see myself getting back to strictly Lightweaving -.-

halo is more about heal than damage, holy is pure heal.. so turning them into need to add damage, pulls away from their core role
There's exactly 1 talent on here that is about damaging enemies and it's on a choice node so calm down
