What's going on my fellow rock n' rollers. Don't forget to hit the bell notification icon to be notified every time i put out a new video on m channel. Perhaps one of the most exciting things about the band Oasis, was that the always seemed to be on the verge of breaking up. Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had a pretty volatile relationship to say the least. In fact, It’s amazing the band lasted as long as it did. And today let’s take at the event’s that led to the band’s messy breakup in 2009.
For almost two decades Oasis would dominate the rock scene and become one of the most volatile bands in the genre. Led by brothers Liam and Noel gallagher, the band’s origins dated back to the early 90’s. The group would sell over 70 million records, have eight number one albums in the UK and sell out arenas and stadiums around the world.
Since their inception in the early 90’s the Gallagher brothers have pretty much been at each other’s throats. The band almost broke with the release of their first album, 1994’s Definitely Maybe. During a showcase gig at the Whisky A Go Go, Noel nearly quit the band according to the Supersonic documentary after Liam started to insult the other band members and threw a tambourine at his brother. Upset, Noel bolted for a few days, but ended up coming back to the band leading to the song Talk Tonight being written.
Fast forward a year later and NME magazine did an interview with the Gallagher brothers that would be released as a single. It was called the Wibbling Rivalry, The interview was notable because it featured a violent argument between the brothers over an incident that happened months earlier when the band was arrested on a ferry in the Netherlands following a violent brawl.
As Oasis turned their attention to recording their sophomore record (What’s The Story) Morning Glory in Wales, the brothers once again got violent with each other. During the recording, Liam brought back a group of people he met at a bar back to the studio while his brother was working. Annoyed, Noel reportedly hit his brother over the head with a cricket bat. That bat would be later sold at auction with a letter of authenticity after it was saved by the album’s producer.
As Oasis hit the road to support the album, tensions once again failed to disappear as Liam was a no show at the band’s first gig in the states. Not only that, but Liam backed out of the band’s taping of MTV unplugged complaining about a sore throat. His brother Noel would take over vocal duties that night. But Liam would still be present, but he wouldn't be on stage, instead hurling insults at his brother from the balcony. Reports grew that the band were going to split, but they opted to continue touring. I’ve done a whole video on their volatile tour with the Screaming Trees during this time. The link is down below!
A relative period of calm would happen for the next four years and it wasn’t until 2000 when things flared up once again. A gig in Spain would be cancelled following drummer Alan White injuring his arm. With nothing to do, the band got plastered and Liam questioned his borther and whether his daughter was actually his and not another mans. A scuffle would ensue and Noel left the band and Oasis continued their European tour without their guitarist.
Fast forward to 2005, Oasis was set to play the Heineken Jammin Festival in Italy. During the band’s set, Liam abrutply left the stage during Champagne Supernova. During an interview that Noel gave to Spin Magazine around this time he said some pretty disparaging things about his brother revealing
“I’ve kind of learnt that instead of arguing stuff out with him and ending up in a fight, I work on his psychology and he’s completely freaked out by me now, He’s actually frightened to death of me” he'd say.
2008-2009 should have been a time for the band to celebrate. They would release their final album 2008’s Dig Out Your Soul. The album was Oasis best reviewed record since the one two punch of 1994’s Definitely maybe and 1995’s What’s the Story Morning Glory. It was also the highest charting LP of the last decade for the group and the tour to support the album was also a massive financial success.
Despite all these accomplishments, relationship between Liam and Noel hit an all-time low. The brothers weren’t eve

It’s a miracle they lasted as long as they did. From everything I’ve seen, it sounds like Liam is a toxic drama queen who antagonizes people, whereas Noel is a self-absorbed narcissist who refers to himself as a god and a genius.

The Gallagher brothers may have been super volatile in their heyday (especially Liam), but it's clear in more recent interviews that they've grown in a lot of ways, at least from what I've seen. I love their sense of humor and their honesty, and of course their musicianship.

Noel has only gotten better at writing amazing songs and Liams voice has improved from what it seemed was headed down during the last years of Oasis. What Im trying to say is they are both in good shape on and off stage and both seem to be in good places right now in life. The fact that neither one has passed away and are still here with us and are not in their 80s tryin to continue be rock stars, they also share the same mother- and at the end of the day the reason that is keeping one of the greatest bands from getting back together is 2 brothers who cant get along. Oasis are the first band I remember from my lifetime that ruled the world. Fell in love with them back in '95. They were my first band poster, when I was like 6 years old. I still listen to them today. I appreciate Liam's and Noel's solo stuff, but they're absolutely synergistic and explosive (both for better and for worse) when put together. That's what made Oasis so effective. Reunion or not, I hope they set aside their differences eventually.

Oasis was an absolutely brilliant band. A number of their hits got big in the US, but they had a slew of amazing songs that got little attention here while blowing up in Europe. There biggest hit here the states was "Wonderwall," and that was easily their worst major single, not that it was bad - it just wasn't nearly as good as many of their other hits. I know it's pretty cliché to dub hem the second coming of The Beatles, (which many at the time were praising them for being, whether the band felt they deserved that moniker or not), but if any band ever deserved that tittle, it was them. In fact there biggest album managed to outsell all The Beatles', The Stones', or The Who biggest albums in Britain for fuck's sake. Between "Cast No Shadow," "Sad Song," " D'know What I mean," "Stand By Me," "Don't Go Away," "Champaign Supernova," "Little BY Little," "Fucking In The Bushes," "Rock N' Roll Star," "Live Forever," "Supersonic," and "Don't Look Back in Anger" - there's no doubt they were one of the greatest rock bands of the 90's. In my opinion i thinks there's a 5-way tie between them, "Alice In Chains," "Porcupine Tree," "Sublime," and "Tool" for the best bands , (not necessarily the biggest, simply the best musical artists), of the entire decade. I know leaving out Nirvana from that list is sacrilegious to some people, but even even though they were arguably the biggest band of the 90's, they imo are extremely overrated. Hell, i didn't think thy were close to the best Grunge band for that matter. Anyways, Oasis fuckin rocked and though they certainly got helps of praise at the time, they aren't nearly as celebrated as other fellow 90's superstar bands like Nirvana are, which is a real travesty.

  • @rustymackemingrancanaria6360

I said to the guys selling the shirts that they'd better sell all the shirts cos this band are finished. You could tell. Pathetic gig. I would like to say though that the band livened up the UK music scene similar to the punk new wave movement in the 70s. Oh for something to shake it up the UK now ...Ed, ya listening? Do 1. You too Coldplay (got a blocked nose when ya singing Chris? ). Bland beyond bland. Omg I despair . Nice video mate, sound!!😷
