7 Biggest Mistakes in Bohemian Rhapsody 2018

- Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) is a world wide hit, but exactly how accurate is the movie about the iconic band? We've spotted 7 goofs you (probably) missed. So, here are the main inaccuracies in Bohemian Rhapsody.
1. In the film, we see Freddie Mercury attending a show of a newbie band called Smile. After the gig, a shy Mercury introduces himself to Brian May and Roger Taylor and pretty much convinces them to let him join the band. The truth is, Freddie met them in college and shared a flat with May before he joined the band.
2. In the movie, Mercury meets the love of his life, Mary Austin, after a Smile concert. They fall for each other right away. Their meeting didn't happen like that. Mary used to date Brian May and Freddie met her when the band was already consolidated. Actually, rumor has it, Mercury asked for May's permission to ask her out.
3. Freddie met his partner Jim Hutton years earlier than the movie suggests. Hutton did not serve food at one of the extravagant parties Mercury prided himself on. In reality, Hutton was a hairdresser, and they met as early as 1980 at a gay club. Hutton refused the drink offered to him by Mercury, having no clue he was the famous Queen frontman. A year and a half later they met again, at a nightclub. Mercury offers Hutton a drink again, and this time, he accepts.
4. In the movie Paul Prenter fails to mention that Queen has been asked to perform at Live Aid, reason for Mercury to fire him. Prenter indeed got fired, but not in 1985, and not for that reason. He threw a party at Mercury’s house in Kensington and left the house in such a mess that he had to go. Him giving a sensational interview to The Sun shortly thereafter, revealing many details about Mercury’s private life, is correct. Even though that happened in 1987.
5. In the movie, Freddie Mercury throws manager John Reid out of a car in the early 1980s when Reid suggests Mercury should go solo. In reality, Queen and Reid had already parted ways in a friendly manner in ’77, when Reid had been their manager for three years and his contract had run its full term.
6. The film depicts that, as a result of Mercury’s solo ambitions, the band falls apart. In the film, before playing on Live Aid, Roger Taylor says it's been years since the last time the band played together. The truth is they had been touring for a year promoting their latest album, The Works. The tour ended in May 1985, and Live Aid was in July of the same year, so they were as fresh as a lettuce.
7. Freddie Mercury telling his fellow Queen members he is hiv-positive during the rehearsals for Live Aid (1985) is cinematic gold. In reality, Freddie hears the fatal news in 1987, and only later informs his fellow band members about it. He wants to keep his personal life and problems to himself and wants no pity, and especially would hate it if people would buy Queen albums for that reason. Not until 23 November 1991 does he issue a public statement saying he has Aids. One day later, he dies.

Rami said to an interview, the movie was made artistically so this ain’t a mistake
You forgot to mention that "we Will rock you" in The movie was after 1980, but in real life, the song was released 1977.
Yess!!! Like in the movie they showed that they were singing in their first us concert fat bottomed girls and like years later they made we will rock you which is wrong we will rock you was 1977 and fat bottomed girls was after that
It's a movie not documentary
Even if its a movie its a biopic they must respect the facts
its a biopic they have to respect the facts
@helena b. true
Ella vu true
I mean it’s a movie but still you have to respect the facts of Queen
When you are a diehard, its a disastrous movie. Everybody else will/can enjoy it.
I totally disagree-I think the movie was fantastic and Malek was extraordinary.
You can think that but its only because you discover his life.. if u were a fan you wouldn''t say that
I agree
Kimberly Stack It's not something to agree/disagree on. It's just what actually happened
Guys it's a movie it does not show full potential has malek known freddie? No. I know your gonna be mad but it's not perfect but it is good.
@helena b yhey cant show everything or make it equal as real life remember that brian may and roger taylor were the ones that actually say how to make the movie and they wanted it to be like that
GUYS THEY MAKE IT WRONG ON PURPOSE THEY ARENT MISTAKES. ITS A MOVIE SO THEY MAKE THE SCENES MORE DRAMATIC FOR FANS TO LOVE IT WHILE LEAVING PART OF THE FACTS IN THE SCENES!!!
There are some more mistakes in movie. Roger and Freddie were friends before Freddie joined the band, these 2 were business partner in Kensington artists' bazaar.
In the movie, they sing "Fat Bottomed Girls" at a concert in 1975, that song was written in 1978!
Some think this is not a documentary, right, but these mistakes and altering the facts didn't have the movie gained anything!
I'll never understand why these simple mistakes were made. Especially in light of the facts that both Brian May and Roger Taylor were involved in the movie to some degree, or, are, at least, accredited for it. How can these mistakes get past them without their correction? Also, real life facts can be just as dramatic as the derivations and still make a compelling attraction. Thereby making a movie both truly informative as well as entertaining. But, no, the entertainment business always has to put their spin on and keep the masses in the dark.
gdg1963 you could also stop bitching and just enjoy the movie...
Totally agree im at a loss to understand how roger and Brian approved this garbage!
@@xen9221 if your a massive queen fan it's bit hard to enjoy a movie that destroys Freddie's character!
I'm watching the movie RN it's my 60th time
I loved the movie . Watch it all the time . Loved his music .
Love the movie!!
This moves great
Being a drummer, the biggest blunder and annoyance I found in the movie was Roger Taylor playing a set Sonor Hilite cream lacquer drums back in the 1970s when the band was playing clubs dates and working on their first couple albums. The Sonor Hilite series was introduced in 1989 and ended around 1995.
Jim H. Mercury
?
They know the whole story, I'm sure they research it! It is a movie not a autobiography!
Number 8: HE HAS BLUE EYES THERE SUPPOSED TO BE BROWN.
I noticed that too! You would've thought he would wear contact lenses. There are so many details to take apart in this film.
To all that say that "It's just a movie"; it's a biopic, which means that they have to get the infos right.
Non the less, IN MY OPPINION, the movie was great!
Most of the things were most likley changed to the sake of drama (although some changes are a bit sensless), and for storytelling.
It is almost certain that they had all that information, but decided to change it.
The movie has its flaws of not being accurate even tho it’s a movie, not a documentary....I’ll give this movie like a C+ it’s good
its a movie... its meant to entertain not to state facts.
When they play bohemian rhapsody on capital radio the dj is using technics 1200 record deck . Its 1975 they were not made until 1979 .
That's a good point, another to add to the list!
My friend no mistake!! It is a great movie and a great actor!! I watched 5 times!!!!!!! I will see it one more time!! It is about see how a great Fredy Mercury was for ever !
FREDDIE
lol all these angry comments, cmon guys they are just pointing out what happend in reality. They are not saying the movie is shit or anything just pointing out stuff that a casual Queen fan may not know after watching the movie! People gets triggered to damn eazy nowadays lol
It’s called artistic licence.
And and did did it win a golden globe and is up for a bafta awards as well well it speak for it self doesn’t it.
What about We Will Rock You being in 1980 in the film instead of 1977?
A brilliant movie all of the actors in the show were spot on one of the obvious mistakes was u2 coming off stage as queen were about to go on it was site straits played before queen
Malek is still great even though he is not as good as Freddie himself.
This is the problem with people nowadays... You find mistakes in this great movie... Make your own bohemian rhapsody and let see what will happen you just take advantage of the movie's fame... you earn for the views...All knowing person behind this Hypen Tops and more...
The biggest mistake of this movie was ending
Best movie ever !!!!
This movie I guess was made in the support of Brian May and Roger Taylor. They had witnessed all the Freddie moments. The are probably not wrong!! What say!!!!??
If they can't get the facts right, then that's just sloppy.
아~~~영어공부열심히 할껄TT
Saw the movie and was sceptical about anyone playing Freddy and boy was I right.
It's called artistic license
Poetic License, plain and simple! If any of you, "If you didn't hate the movie, you're not a true fan" naysayers thought for one second you were going to see an epic film about one of the greatest legends of EVER and it would be filled with truth, then poo-poo on you! There has never been, nor will there ever be, a movie about any legendary icon that will be truthful and accurate. It doesn't sell and that's the bottom line! If you have a problem understanding that then check out our world's written history! I really, really had to talk myself to go see film because I knew it wouldn't matter who they got to play Freddie, they would never be just right. Not only was Freddie an awesome _____ (fill-in the blank cause he did it all!) and had such a one-off stage presence, he was an extremely unique and private HUMAN(?) INDIVIDUAL! Once I accepted the film just for what it was, I was glad I went and saw it. If you just watch it and do your best to block out all of your preconceived ideas they could actually find a Mercury doppelganger, you may possibly enjoy it! I do believe Rami gave a wonderful performance, regardless. He did the best there was to be done, considering what he was up against. I do, however, wish they had CGI'd the area under his eyes. That threw me off.
There had been many reviews an discussions leading up to this production. I would like to know why any "I hated the movie" fan would choose to see it with the information (especially negative) that was available before it hit theaters? This was a "movie" about one of the most rarest, exceptional people on the planet. Did you honestly believe it would meet your expectations?
High five! =)
so what, its a movie
Oh so it's not about the song, like I thought
haters...the movie was the best movie ever....
No..it was a great movie! =)..Just not a biography of Freddie Mercury.
Жаль,нет перевода
I wouldn't call them "mistakes"
why ? ))
Freddy has broun igs end Rami blou !!
I wonder why is shitty modern misick in the background of QUEEN video. QUEEN VIDEO.
it is a movie, u can't put all story in 2 hours
Er why not? I've seen documentaries of queens history in 2 hours you just condense the story or make it 3 hours🤷♂️ you definitely don't make up stuff and make Freddie out to be a selfish idoit who breaks group up (which never happened !)
The biggest mistake is the blue eyes!
An an another mistake during the big party at freddie's house in 1980 we can hear "Cant touch this" the song came out on 1990
Ella vu it’s super freak by Rick James. Can’t touch this samples the tune
@@scottishdumbass I'm french i didn't kow that! Shame on me
史実通りに映画は作れないよね。それはわかり切っている事ではないの?史実が知りたければ書物を漁れば良い。
Nice try for the bitcoin...wich explaqin why you make silly videos .
i dinnt even watch the video and i already hate it by the title!!😡😠
Video about Queen, and shitty music in it, of course...
The mistakes are supposed to be there they can't get each detail of his life exactly corrcet
Er i don't see why not as they had his personal assistant advising them. It's a disrespectful portrayal of Freddie mercury very insulting
Movie doesn’t have any point at all if you follow exact same like their history.
is ok but your music in the video is tooooo ugly........
Why that annoying music????? This is not queen like. Bad taste
10 reasons why I won't be watching this crock of shit. How come the researchers got so much wrong? And this film is critically acclaimed? It beggars belief.
I agree, it's overrated. You may as well read a book about Queen.
It is called straight up LIES! not mistakes. The band had the final say on everything, and choosed to LIE just to make more money. Ramy malek was shite. hope Bradley Cooper takes the oscar.
Dude its a movie, did you honestly think they would make it 100% accurate to what happend in reality? Hollywood ALWAYS milks their movies.
@@viktorsaarinen3229 in that case they should have said 'very loosely based on queen group!'
@@philfitnesspt6139 Technically yes, but then they would have to say that about 90% of these "based on reality" movies lol.
@@viktorsaarinen3229 then they should do that i mean this movie was total fiction and a very disrespectful portrayal of Freddie mercury!
Most people who don't know Queen or their music are going to believe these inaccurate facts are gospel. That's sloppy research. If they can't get the facts right don't make the film. They were concentrating on too much chronologically in this film, which was 20 years of Queen's career from 1971 to 1991. They would've been better off focusing on Freddie's Aids struggle.
People say great movie and great malek..
The movie is shit and malek was not able to be like the real freddie.
But the most fastidious thing is that all of this has been realized by May, Taylor, beach (with freestone).
And they got sag, g g, oscars nominations............
Such a shame
Rob Hout for sure
They took 10 years to make this “kind” of movie...10 years.
Sasha baron cohen went away because of screenplay (and then May changed it..). No mention by them for Brian singer who brought them at the top.
Ok, they have been right in the end because they have received prizes and gain 800 millions. Perfect business men, congrats..
But if i were in them, I wouldn’t feel proud about it.
The positive thing, like u ve just said and like I use to say, is that now all people know freddie and Queen. Finally.
But people better read and watch more books, interviews and documentaries about them.
Was it necessary to do this kind of movie to make know freddie and queen? I think not.
Brian May criticized the documentary with joe blunt who played freddie..but it was so real and good and deep. And then Brian has just made this stuff...congrats again..
It s all about money. Does he need more money?? Not.
I appreciate John deacon and Mary Austin who took distance from this project.
I have been for Freddie and Queen since 1992. Freddie tattoo on my left chest.
Ok for concerts with Paul Rodgers and Lambert with Queen’s name..ok.........but This movie is a big disappointment.
Geraldine Reilly oooooohhhhh...finally one person who says that malek was not good, Christ.
Geraldine Reilly brava.
Another good thing u re saying: Freddie in the movie is painted like a stupid..What a shame..
And for Brian May all is okay..I am speechless.
I am very angry with Brian May in particular
Geraldine Reilly brava bravaaaaa
If somebody needs queen songs, there are many videos on web.
Queen make a film on freddie and put in there concerts and fake story.
And Freddie like a brainless
And nothing else Brian?!?!
Not about money, isn’t it?
You must not watch it if you know that the movie wasn't be good. Shut the fuck up. Leave. You all a lot of yityat!
