Whilst the door lock is not working,
Long press the open button on your key till the windows go down and hop in through the window 😂

The Windows wont Open, since the battery was dead and every time the battery is dead, the Windows have to relearn their position by fully opening and closing the windows again.
Try reprogramming the key by turning the key in the door position it to the left and hold for 5 seconds and then to the right for 5 seconds.

Would be cool just to see a bit of a restoration on the DEAD GTi. Something like what Car throttle did with miles the Octavia and then maybe sell it on after. Looks like it’s been looked after might just need bit of TLC.
It feels cleaner than the grey one even before a restoration haha, I’ll clean it next video 👌🏼

You've got the high mileage 350HP GTI with a bolt on solution, my suggestion is to forge the dead GTI's engine, and put a bigger turbo on it, like a Garrett GTX3576R. Expensive? Yes. Totally worth the ROI in content though IMO. Plus, you'll have a crazy 400-600hp Golf GTI, which is pretty lethal. 😁

Steering wheel full lock to lock will clear the traction control and streering faults. Common with dead batteries

Hey, fellow mk5 gti owner here. I have a similar issue with my drivers door. It locks with the button but won't unlock with it and have to use the key to get in the car. I've been told it's the central locking module. Great content btw, have enjoyed watching your progress with the grey gti as I've been contemplating tuning mine for more power. I had an ep3 type r before my gti and loved it but unfortunately it was written off for me. The exhaust on the "dead" gti sounds awesome, if you did decide to break it for parts I'd be very interested in buying the Pescara wheels. :-) Look forward to the future content.

If you take my advice, we should get a forged engine, nice handling and breaks mods, racing tyres and weight reduction, make it a track car, take it round a track or even a 1/4 mile 10 seconds car and push it to the limits.This GTI should be the Crazy GTI. All the best bro. ❤️

Loving the Mk5 GTI content mate. Since this GTI is stage 2 already, I'd say do a water-methanol injection kit install and then give it to Rtech to dial in with a tune.
And alk install.

I have the identical BPY FSI in my car, a B6 passat, im interested in knowing if my engine is cooked if I get oil pressure warning and my engine is working very well. I drive it daily. It would have seized by now if the oil pump died, correct?
Track build would be cool as it's a manual and seeing as the high mileage GTI has a fast road setup!
For the drivers door check the wiring that runs between the door and the body, the harness gets messed up over time and you have to repair it... Easy enough to do just match the colours

Id keep an eye on that lion battery I had one on me van and it bulged and was leaking fluid after 6months
If you turn the key in the lock to the left and hold it, it will drop the windows so you can operate the internal handle if it’s not deadlocked?
If that don’t work then the wiring is fooked on the mech
Hamza re the drivers door lock, turn the ignition on pull the door lever whilst thumping the door trim below the led switch. I have a similar problem which is common on the mk5, effectively the lock mechanism needs changing
I believe it’s quite common for vag cars to have problems with door locks.
What website do you buy your cars from? Also any quick cars with decent insurance (1.4L) for new drivers? cheers Hamza!

One interesting video idea is a coilover restoration for the dead GTI and setting them back up. They look abit worse for wear.

Rust on boot lid. Rust on fenders. Try and push for a dyno readout aswell
Cam follower, cambelt, DSG services every 50k-odd (if dsg) etc
Door locks all lock and unlock on the button.
£150+vat and and hours labour for the mech.
If the indicators dont flash when locking is a giveaway.
And when that door is opened the alarm wont sound.
Isnt there a plastic cap on the pasenger side covering the lock?
Try checking the fuses.. behind the drivers door 😂
The car has obviously had some cash thrown at it but fell into the wrong hands

The warning lights on the dash always appear when the battery has been disconnected or run flat, they will clear when you drive a few 100 yds 👍
Yeah interestingly everything fixed itself after I filmed this yesterday, both the drivers door and warning lights issue 😂

i had the same problem with the door not opening from the button, only drivers door has a problem other doors open from key. happened after my battery died aswell. MK5 R32 still have no clue
Door lock module has died. Common problem on Vdubs, you need to get the door card off to get the door open.
And it looks too good to break, if theres nothing wrong with it mechanically.
I'd swap the nice bits onto yours, and sell it on.

Try by pulling the Handle with a bit of force. This is the same thing with my gti
Sounds like the cam chain and tensioner needs to be changed (I know it's belt driven) and change the cam follower whilst the hpfp is off.

My locks were very dodgy on my mk5 and changed the lock mechanisms and it worked fine

When unlocked tap with your fist where the the lock of the handle is. You should hear a click and the door should open. Try this.
