I'm new to having tinnitus. I have found depending on which sound I'm hearing I find a corresponding sound therapy to listen to. I have found that the sound (tinnitus) changes with each sound therapy video I listen too.
I have three separate sounds I'm dealing with
Cicadas primarily, high pitched ringing, and something between the sound and of white noise and the wind for lack of a better description.
I also use other methods spoon tapping, acupressure, and message.
My problem is I can't quite figure out the exact frequency, pitch, or (especially Cicadas) the perfect match to listen to.
The other thing is I experience periods of silence lasting between two or three days....what do I do in the quite time to try and keep the tinnitus away?

Thank you both for what you have done for this community. I picked up tinnitus in October last year and to be honest I was pretty scared and anxious etc. Then I found you both.
Now with Dales noises, the Zapper is my go to that reduces it immediately - And to Ben for his calming and normalising approach.
Together with a visit to a good ENT specialist and an audiologist who together showed me I have some hearing loss due to previous sound exposure - It’s from 9/10 down to 1/2/3.
    Thanks again for everything guys

What Dale said about each of us "resonating" differently to different sounds really hit me. When I visit my massage therapist, I often ask him to turn the music to my Spotify selections as there are times when I am unnerved by what he has on. Some people consider it relaxation or mediative music. I consider it annoying!
Thanks for presenting this AWESOME content Dr. Ben.
And thanks for also mentioning the importance of also allowing ambient sound. I've found that different hearing aid tips affect the ambient sound.

Dr. Thompson, very useful video and reference. I do like Dalesnale videos, as well as from other CZcamsrs that offer neuromodulation therapy for tinnitus. Some of these sounds cause residual inhibition (my tinnitus is gone or reduced for a few minutes even longer). It would be worth studying and extremely helpful for the tinnitus community to determine if these sounds could actually lead to permanent neuronal paths were tinnitus is reduced forever (if listened consistently for several months). At the end of the day, sound therapy is non-invasive, and even though it takes longer, I think more people would be willing to try it if neuromodulation therapy could create permanent residual inhibition.

  • @vagonba

In my case I liked snale videos, specially high frecuency ones, they mask the tinnitus and feel good, however, I had to stop listening them because it seemed to be pushing my tinnitus louder when audio stopped even at very low volume level. Maybe the problem is that I pay attention more to the sound or that I shouldn't use earphones.
My tinnitus seems to be around 15-16khz and it doesn't affect my earing appart from annoyance and anxiety it produces to me sometimes, I ignore it most of the time.

Contrasting point for early Tinnitus, Do I mask with best match sound, or frequency? Or Do I mask to a slightly different noise, so two sounds exists? My first impulse was to match sound. Eventually matching sound was not the sound thereby I use. Was wondering thoughts.
