I Just wanted to point out, that at no time have we heard Issa bad mouth Molly when asked why they weren't cool anymore. Molly, though?
Every opportunity she gets, Issa this, Issa that..smh. That's why the promo for next week's episode made me so mad.
Molly has shown us this season that she can be petty and small. She's acting more like a lover scorned than a friend. At the block party Molly was quick to point out "of course I showed up, I'm your best friend". Is she though? A real friend wouldn't say that things that Molly has said. Even if you two are upset with each other they still give you that respect.

I found when Molly said Issa runs away for a job to be untrue she actually held a job she was unhappy for 5 years , when did she run from working a job. Like when was Molly ever Issa’s friend?

The restaurant scene with Lawrence's and Issa's dialogue drowning out the noise was so real. Jay and Issa deserve Emmys.
I love at that dinner scene the music gets drowned out and you just hear them talking and finally understanding what caused the demise of their relationship. They both played a part in that.
It was such a beautiful episode. I loved everything about it.
I like the balance of comedy and drama in this episode. It delivered food for though and deep conversations while making us laugh the whole time. That's not always easy to pull off. The visuals were just stunning. They always are but last night was next level. Especially when they were in the clouds. Breathtaking!
@@lifewithshawnda Yes, I loved the clouds too! I agree with everything you said. The cinematography, dialogue, and chemistry between actors...off the charts! It was such a feel good episode. I had to rewind a couple of times because I was laughing and missed something. I love that we're seeing Issa's growth. She's creating happiness and asking for what she wants. She made it clear that she loves Lawrence, but she doesn't need him to be happy.
This almost Melanie and Derwin all over again if Condola is pregnant.

Last night’s episode was so damn good! I watched it and smiled the entire time. It was so refreshing to see two people genuinely love each other have an adult conversation about the things that went wrong in their relationship. With communication breakdown being a major factor in my relationship this was felt from deep within, and something I needed to see, hear and experience! Coach Shawn, listening to you this morning, I’m clapping and talking loud like “I knw that’s right” and say that again louder for the men and women that didn’t hear you! Lol I always enjoy your commentary! 🥰🥰

I think they both have grown tremendously. Issa gets Lawrence and Lawrence gets Issa. I loved the conversation in the restaurant, it just shows how important communication is within any relationship. I don't think they should've slept together. I would hope Condola isn't pregnant because we've seen that storyline already. I've said before I don't trust Condola; she's GRIMY!
Sidenote: Issa probably would've left We Got Y'all but she couldn't because Lawrence was NOT being a provider; he aint have NO job 😂.
So true. Lawrence's lack of drive and ambition kept Issa where she didn't want to be mentally, physically, emotionally and even in her career. Once the weight of Lawrence was off of her, Issa was free to try new things and take calculated risks with her career. She had to be the stable one for Lawrence and it didn't allow her to find her own way.
Issa was the primary breadwinner when Lawrence wasn't working. When your household is down to one income that may not be the time to quit your job and try new career paths.

Yes! People really do not understand the immense importance of communication in any relationship, but especially a romantic relationship. You can't sit there, assuming someone knows what is going on in your mind, even when, to you, it seems obvious. And any time you feel any type of way, you need to open your mouth; don't let it fester, don't let it become a resentment. Talk it out, even if it seems silly or stupid or unimportant. I'm glad they had this talk whether they end up together or not, because this is the way you end a relationship healthily, in my opinion, you have that sit down and talk about what happened. If things pick back up, cool, if not, cool, you just know everything was put out there on the table and you both can go from there.
@Brooklyn Medina There are so many examples of men being the reason women can't fulfill their potential and you, somehow, ignore that? Like, girl, the entire generation before us was that. Where women, especially black women, had to stop their lives to get married and care for children, all while dad got to have friends and change careers and just live life because mom was home, holding everything down because her life was paused. Then, today, many women stay in shitty relationships because they don't want to be alone and, because they are doing all the emotional labor and work in the relationship, they end up being stuck while, once again, their man is out there living up because everything is on the woman's shoulders. That's not a childish way to think and it's not an excuse; you're also missing that a lot of men are awesome when you first meet them and then they show their true colors later on, how do you fault a woman for being fooled? And it's literally happening around us everywhere and to ignore that is, frankly, being ignorant and not willing to see beyond your own situation and belief. It's great if a man never stopped you because you are not "pathetic" (how judgmental, btw), but let's not pretend that doesn't happen every day, all over this planet.

Tbh, I don't think Condola is pregnant; she doesn't seem that irresponsible, so unless she did it on purpose, I don't see it happening. I DO think she knew he was going out on that date with Issa and that is why she kept blowing up his phone, kind of like a, "um, remember I'm here, too" type thing, which if that's the case, wow, is she messy as hell. She doesn't come off that way, but then again, we don't know all that much about her. Or why her marriage really ended. She could be that psycho chick under the calm, got-it-together facade.

I loved the reunion and their acting was on point. That’s what love feels like and I could feel it in every scene. I love them together. 😍🥰😘

There wasn't nothing shameful about that walk. She was strutting around feeling truly happy and like she's finally at a good place in her life. I'm happy for our good sis. If she likes it, I love it. (It may not last though.)

And he was still trying to make it to Condola after having such a wonderful time with Issa, Issa had to be the one to initiate what happened that night. Therefore, I think he's going to break her heart again like the last time he stopped by her apartment, laid the wood, then dipped.
Bree5three Lawrence is and will forever be a fxck boy to Issa. He will never grow up for her sadly... he knows he can always get it in with Issa cause she lets him. Had she walked away, he would have gone to coleslaw with no qualms of her whilst she would have been dwelling.
I just question the timing of it all. Drinks with Issa on the weekend and getting dinner with Condola a few days later in the same week. It's like he's tying up loose ends before he leaves. Is he really moving to San Francisco and making sure neither of these two ladies is "the one" before he leaves?

I highly doubt Condola is pregnant. She’s an experienced woman who has had a whole marriage and divorce and managed to not get pregnant so I highly doubt she would get pregnant from a few hookups with Lawrence. All of the people on this show seem to have tight control over their own reproductive functions. Even though they all have a bunch of sex, you don’t see any of the dudes knocking up a single female or the females running off to get any abortions. The characters are too educated and too grown for unplanned pregnancy drama. They’re all in their 30s and hella-grown. I think all the female characters are the type who are on long term birth control as they navigate the dating world and have their adventures as single people. I know Black professionals in my own life who had their fun dating and sexing people all through their 20s and 30s and then got married as they entered their 40s and had kids after that point. I think Condola has simply re-evaluated her discomfort with the chemistry and private jokes that Lawrence and Issa share and now Condola wants to try again with Lawrence because she sees Lawrence is a good man. I think Lawrence and Issa know each other as if they are two halves of the same whole. When they are at their best, they are like two symbiotic beings that fit. Lawrence actually finds Issa’s clumsiness to be endearing and familiar. Simultaneously, Issa is drawn to Lawrence like a magnet. This meetup for Issa and Lawrence started off like a scheduled appointment but then it gradually mellowed into a head-in-the-clouds romantic reconnection. And, yes, I noticed the symbolism of the clouds at the Art Walk and the fact that we never get to see the painting that Lawrence buys. The blue couch that they picked out together is also powerful symbolism. Also, back in the episode where Lawrence came to pick up his mail from their apartment. He asks to grab some of his belongings from the bathroom, then comes back and ends up initiating the quickie with Issa. I noticed Issa was sitting on the edge of the blue couch the moment Lawrence approached her. Now in this episode, Lawrence is sitting on the edge of the blue couch after Issa has just returned from his bathroom and there’s a certain symmetry to these two moments. I’m really rooting for Issa and Lawrence to reunite and get married❤️
Agreed plus they storyline has been written before remember the tv show the game the writing is too thorough on this show to even go there i think she wants to tell Lawrence she spoke too soon she does want to be married and have a family just not right away .

Yeah, I've seen this being talked about a few times. I highly doubt Condola is pregnant as she seems very on top of that type of thing (all of them do), not to mention, she seems to not be interested in marriage and kids right now. It would seem pretty out-of-character, even with as little about her as we know, for her to just end up pregnant. The only way I think she could be pregnant is if she, also out-of-character, decides she MUST have Lawrence and she's gotten pregnant on purpose to keep him with her (which women should never do because that rarely works; you don't keep someone out of obligation). That just doesn't seem like her, though. I think Condola is wanting to talk through things just like Lawrence and Issa are doing, hence the texts and calls from her through the episode. What I wonder is if she KNOWS Lawrence is supposed to be talking things through with Issa and she's purposely jumping in on their time. Again, though, Condola doesn't seem that messy, but at the same time, like I said, we don't know all that much about her, so who knows? I do doubt she's pregnant, though. That's what people were saying about the last episode, too, but just turns out they broke up.

Condola texting so much let Issa know it was now or never. It's one thing if you break up with a guy and think one day he'll move on. But when Issa heard him saying he was going to meet Condola that same night she was like, "not on my watch. not today."
Girl you completely missed the fact that he suggested taking her to a restaurant that she had been practically begging him to take her to for years. I was waiting to hear what you thought about that.
The fact that he still hadn't gone to that restaurant on his own kinda makes me feel like he still held out hope that one day he'd take Issa. Maybe there was a small part of him that knew he'd make at back to her so he saved that experience. And the fact that she went without him shows that she was THAT sure things were over with Lawrence for good. That's my two cents anyway.
I was thinking about that, too! Yeah, it just shows how depressed he was. She was sending him the menu with annotations, but he still never took her. Of course she’s gonna go the first chance she gets. He definitely gets a pass because he was young and didn’t know what to do to get himself out of that rut. But I’m so glad they broke up because that relationship was killing her spirit and keeping him stuck.
It was sweet to see them on a real date they still have a connection for example only Issa knows him as Martin Lawrence, not Condola. I think he realized Issa was a good supportive woman who made a bad decision. Issa caught feelings after finding out Lawrence bought that ring, but I believe it was closure for them. We shall see if they make it.

I will be so OVER IT ALL if condolences condolezza conola oil is pregnant. I’ve waited to damn long for Lawrence and Issa for that BS😒. This episode was one of my favs of the series. I loved the maturity and honesty displayed by both. The growth was really on display. I’m hoping the ending symbolized a possible new chapter for both of them but if not , then that was a happy satisfying closure that we all needed. The acting. The writing. The directing. The cinematography. Everything was perfection. Great review as always!

This episode had me in my feelings! But you said everything I was thinking! It was a perfect time to discuss their previous relationship, and to be open for criticism. I commend Lawrence and Issa for that. I was low key hoping they did not have sex, since Lawrence is still in the grey with Condola. However, maybe it is my hopes for her not to being pregnant, but maybe she was calling Lawrence because her woman intuition probably knew he was with Issa. Also, for her to somehow talk to him before Issa basically sealed the deal. But Issa walk at the end was the truth! That is how you look when you are in a good mental place! To me, I felt that she put in the mind, if it works it works, if not oh well. Furthermore, let’s not forget the amazing cinematography during this episode! The beauty of it made my heart smile!
The melanin is those beauty artsy places gave me my life. I would have loved it if secretly Condola saw Lawrence and Issa at the restaurant together and that's what made continue to call.

Good luck with that. As this show (and real life, in general) has continually shown us, no one ever has it all together. I get not wanting someone who is a whole mess and they aren't ever going to grow from that, but expecting people to be as close to perfect as possible, haha. And even then, what does having it together even mean? That's so different for everyone and we all value certain things over something else.
Yes, don't date someone's potential, but also don't expect anyone to have it all together. No one actually does.

Love love loved this episode watched it 3x lol. I don’t think condola is pregnant. If she didn’t get pregnant by her ex husband. I wouldn’t think she would get pregnant by a guy she dated for only 2 months. She don’t seem like the type. Plus the show isn’t that predictable. I just think she wanted to rekindle things.... And for molly and Issa. I noticed thru out this beef they have. Issa has never spoken ill of molly, simple says i don’t rocks with her anymore. Yet molly can’t keep Issa name out her mouth. Always making nasty comments and assuming. How can you call someone your best friend but always speak so low of them. I’m mad Issa called first too..... I’m very curious to see how things will play out with Lawrence, and San Fran.
It's going to be hard to root for Molly and Issa after we've seen all this backstabbing trash talk. If they do rekindle their friendship we will still always see Molly as fake. I feel like the writers took the beef with Issa too far. At this point she seems almost nonredeemable. I want Molly to be happy with Andrew but I don't think I want her happy with Issa. The writers have a LOT of work to do if they want us to love this friendship the way we used to.
Life Coach Shawn i agree! It’s going to be hard for us to love the friendship between them again. Molly has to take some serious accountability for the part she played. And unfortunately i don’t see that happening any time soon or ever.
So true I also went back and watch some previous episodes and I noticed that Molly was more invested more interactive with Issa boyfriends and relationship as opposed to Issa who didn't interact with directly with Molly boyfriends she just stood back and gave her advice she didn't insert herself as much as Molly did in her relationship.

I agree about Condolences NOT being preggo. First, Lawrence got burned literally with an STD during his rebound/hoe phase. Second, observing Tiffany and Derek - he wouldn’t even hold the baby lol! Third, Controlla’s career: she’s too much of an control freak to get pregnant, unmarried with an ex she knows. Fourth, he kept the couch!! Fifth he opened up more than he has ever about the ring, their relationship, happiness, etc. Our characters are a mess and still somewhat insecure but have grown more self aware and focused on upward and onward at this point in the series :) Their convo throughout the night screams reconciliation to me NOT closure!! I feel like the original plan was to end the season at this episode 8 - but remember when the surprised us saying it’d be 10 eps rather than the usual 8??? :) Team Issa + Lawrence building a lowkey legacy together!!!

Same. I think Issa felt she had to. Condola kept calling over and over again and I think Issa thought if he went over to talk to her she could lose him forever. So she shot what she probably thought was her last shot. Even though Lawrence is her ex and they have history, they should have built on the chemistry they had and taken things slow. At least make sure these were real feelings and not just nostalgia.

I felt like last night they re-introduced themselves to each other. From the drink choices to their new career paths, they're not the old Lawrence and Issa. I'd like to see the leveled up version of them give it a try. We met Lawrence jobless and on a couch. Let's see if the new him is actually good for Issa. I don't want to root for him just because he's the guy who's been on the show the longest.
Life Coach Shawn I agree we only got to see him successful outside of the relationship. & Haha. But honestly I’ve always been like there is a reason they keep him on the show and it’s not cause they just don’t want to kick him off. I said this from the beginning but they put Condola in the middle to make them both realize something’s about the relationship they never moved on from. We’ll see what happens with them.
I think I really liked this episode because it reflected my last relationship almost exactly (him being Lawrence and me Issa, only without the cheating, though). Only I was willing to talk and possibly work things out, my ex never wanted to put in any work for anything, which was part of the reason for the breakup, so of course, he wasn't going to put in work to repair things. He was, unfortunately, too immature to admit his wrongs in the relationship, so it all ended up just being me. That's why I was so glad to see a mature Issa and mature Lawrence sit down and talk about how they both contributed to the breakdown of the relationship (while taking responsibility for their wrongs, too) and, even if they don't get back together, they both got to say what they needed to say, realized some hard truths and how things could possibly be handled the next time, and they both got a sense of closure.

I don't think they ever truly moved on. If they move on, now, they can move on, but I think they needed this episode to figure out what they want to do, either way.
If you think back Issa and Lawrence had an honest conversation at the end of season 2 at the apartment. They knew how each other felt they just had to go out in the world and find their way back to one another.

After this past week, I needed this episode. I hope they don’t put Lawrence and Issa in that situation. It would be nice to see them decide to be together or not be together because they both want to, not because of other people or variables. Last night! Wow! I was all in until that text. I was cussing Lawerence out! He redeem himself when he came back to take her to see the art walk. I was cheering Issa for claiming her space over Condola. Yes Issa take back your Man! What a beautiful love scene, and not Lawerence’s raunchy sex scenes.
I appreciate how honest Lawrence was being with Issa about Condola. He told Issa exactly what was going on and how he felt. I'm glad he didn't take the opportunity to play games and try to see if he could have two women.

On point as usual. I think this was a well written episode. I think Issa staying down for a long time was symbolic of her being down for a while. She got up effortlessly and gracefully like nothing happened speaks to her recent successes. The “why ain’t men great till they gotta be great...” Lizzo song was symbolic of Lawrence’s evolution post Issa because of Issa. I like the closure. This could have been the series Finale and I would have been satisfied. At this point both have some so far....it almost doesn’t matter if they end up together. Either way.....they will be alright. I do however think Condola is preggers or desert thirsty to get him back.

I think she's pregnant too. I'd like for Issa and Lawrence to get back together. I love friendship and Love and they have that! Hubby and I have been married nearly 12 years and there were trials. This episode had me smiling from beginning to end,wish Lawrence wouldn’t have been in and out of his phone,but I still enjoyed it. In reference to the cloud scene,it read “Cloud 9” all the way for me because everything was flowing freely and effortlessly . I paid attention to the body language and symbolism’s,visually satisfying,that occurred throughout the show,displaying the levels of where they are in their lives. The word for this episode,is Growth and they’ve grown in so many ways.

I loved last night's episode. Your commentary is on point. I appreciated that Issa got up and left the next morning, instead of being put out. She left Lawrence wanting more. I think that it was a closure episode. Now, if Condola is pregnant as you're speculating, I'd be heartbroken!! I've been through that before and it hurts! See you next week.
I think the old Issa would have probably been asking "what does this mean" but this Issa is like, "that was nice" I'll see you around. I still wish she had waited but at least she didn't over analyze the situation and make it more than what it was.

I love how they were able to showcase two black people having respectful closure. It was very therapeutic. I have never really seen it displayed on television nor in real life. I think its healthy to see each point on view in the relationship and grow from it. Many times people break up (friendships/relationships) but never create dialogue on why things ended and how it made them feel. We need to do this more. It was nice to see Lawrence in a different light. Condolences better not be pregnant! Lol
I feel like I was a part of Issa and Lawrence’s whole relationship and this is also the closure I needed. I’m good now. He can go to San Fran. Issa and I are good now 😂
I absolutely loved how when the conversation got more intense, the background noise started to fade. And the camera angles, chefs kiss 😙👌🏼

I was so giddy watching this whole episode. I love how you pointed out the symbolism with them being in the clouds. I wonder what the symbolism was behind the scene where Lawrence is standing on the blue side and Issa being on the red side.
I loved the look.
I think Lawrence was on the red side, Issa was on the blue. In a way, I think it shows Lawrence is on fire, he's growing and becoming who he needs to be, who he needed to be in their relationship. Issa is that safe space for him, calming and collected. She's finally allowed to soar up to the sky.
I feel like they were closing the Issa/Lawrence chapter. When he said he thinks he gives up to easily I think he was actually referring to condola. It was more than likely just closure.
That could be true. He gave up on both of them so only time will tell which one he was really talking about. Now that I think about it, what if he's talking about Tasha the bank teller? Just playing. Lol

My prediction about the art piece is that it will show up in the series finale after Issa and Lawrence get married. Remember when Issa had that internal scene of how she was hoping Lawrence would respond when they were leaving the empty apartment. Got my fingers crossed. Lawrence held on to that couch because he was holding on to Issa.
My favorite episode by far. So much healing took place. It was such a nice date and I’ve always felt like they had so much chemistry.
I really enjoy your reviews of the show. I like how you pick up on all the nuances from the music to the lighting. As much as I am anti Lawrence-hive lol this episode of just the two of them was beautiful. It was nice to see them be open and honest with each other. I really hope Condola is not pregnant. We don’t need The Game season 2 & 3 all over again (we saw what happened with that lol 😭).

I was thinking that Issa is pregnant...as illustrated by her excusing herself to use the bathroom in a relatively short period of time. I hope she isn't. I would like to see Issa and Lawrence have a chance to express real love, forgiveness, and self-evolution. As an artist, I understand that we need conflict to move a story forward and keep it interesting...but as a person who loves a good love story I would like to see her character win.(Just finished re-watching Best Man watching Morris Chestnut cry while taking his vows) I would love to see the proposal, wedding, and all of the conflict, drama, and obstacles surrounding the building and maintaining true love...real love. I hope she isn't pregnant. I was lowkey disappointed that Issa and Lawrence fell back into old habits. There was a time where I was rooting for them to get back together, but that time has passed. They've both grown so much separately and I don't see them working good as a couple anymore. It also seems that Lawrence is still figuring some stuff out with Condola. Issa may have a lot figured out, but she clearly said Lawrence made her happy. She can still get hurt by him. I don't want to see them go through anymore relationship drama.
I effin loved this episode. Watched it twice back to back lol. Their chemistry is undeniably strong. I need them back together.. I hope Condolences isn't pregnant dammit! That is too predictable and cliche and annoying lol.

I absolutely loved this episode. I watched it blushing the whole time during the date as if me and Lawrence were talking. It was truly beautiful to see them like new lovers like the first Uber driver said. I was a bit annoyed when Condola texted Lawrence and he responded on a date with someone else. He also happily responded to her about meeting up which seems like he wanted to play both Issa and Condola. However, he did show the text from her to Issa which is a great sign that it’s not what it appears to be. I don’t think she’s pregnant. I think she may want to apologize in person for coming at him about Issa on Thanksgiving or perhaps giving up so soon on their relationship and wanting to try again...if I was Issa I would not have slept with him or even kissed him after overhearing the phone call but I get why she did. And honestly that response was better as it didn’t seem like she was hurt by his actions but content about everything. I cheered when she was brought up San Francisco (meaning Lawrence moving) and happily dressed and did not even want Lawrence to walk her home. Well played because he definitely saw the growth. The strut home in a new outfit was so liberating to watch because I know the feeling. It’s the feeling of being completely content and ready to move on. They could become best friends, friends with benefits, or cordial from here but whatever it is, Issa will be content with it. I don’t seem them in a romantic relationship again. I was so happy for her. (Side note: was it me who thought she lied about living close to him 😆 that did not look like a short walk, just around the corner, but I’m from NYC , not LA So maybe that is considered short for West Coasters 😝)

This episode gave me butterflies and goosebumps i couldnt stop smiling from the juuuuuump. Im rooting for love even if it means the series will come to an end or be boring but guys im rooting for issa and Lawrence
I wonder if Condole was only calling for the episode? Like she was just a test for Lawrence to choice between the her and Issa. He had every opportunity to go to Condole instead of staying with Issa, but even after lying to both himself and Condole, he still choose not to. I hope that we don’t hear from Condole anymore, not because I want to see Issa and Lawrence back together, but because she’s not needed. She only represents the type of strong Black woman Lawrence wants, but not who he needs; he really wants this from Issa.
I agree!! It was like the fork in the road for Issa and Lawrence. Ever since the Thanksgiving episode Condola's friend gave Lawrence a liquid confession about him being the crutch for her to get over her divorce. Just killing time "getting under someone else" type. Lawrence felt invalidated even more when Condola says "well I never invited you, you invited yourself." She doesn't care for him the same way Issa does. When Lawrence got back from SF, Issa was the one he called saying "been thinking about you when are you free to grab a drink."

Yes! I was so mad. Like, why Issa? Don't be the one to reach out AGAIN. Molly needs the people around her to stop letting her get away with acting like she does and then just glossing over what happened. They all do that with her, even Andrew is starting to do it. I hope he stands up and has a backbone or else she is going to run all over him and he's going to end up being resentful.

I think he does silly (unthought out )stuff and is always just searching for his best self. I think his core is do the right thing but his navigation system takes him all around and unnecessary turns to put him where he is trying to get to.
I know things like that happen in real life but I don't want to see that either. If Lawrence and Issa are to be together I want them to have an uncomplicated chance with only two adults involved, not three.
