Cole Palmer shines as Chelsea thrash Everton despite penalty row | Back Pages Tonight

Cole Palmer and Mauricio Pochettino have both reiterated that the Chelsea midfielder is the team's penalty taker after a "daft" spat with Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke.
Chelsea were 4-0 ahead when they were awarded a penalty, given after Abdoulaye Doucoure's clip on Palmer inside the area.
The Blues midfielder had already scored a first-half hat-trick as Chelsea thrashed Everton 6-0, and as the second-half penalty was given, both Madueke and Jackson claimed the spot kick for themselves.

Honestly I thought it was bad watching it live but i saw the whole penalty thing on CZcams and I was so embarrassed. He saw his teammate on the ground. Didn't even bother to check on him. All he saw was an opportunity to grab the ball while Palmer was down. And he starts shouting at Jackson cos they both wanted it. What the heck 💀.

Jackson is the most team player you will ever see. He works hard for the team, he celebrates every goal as though he scored it. On this occasion he wanted it since Palmer already had a hat-trick . Madueke wanted to be in the scoreboard too. I think Jackson went overboard, yes. But nowhere the level you guys are focusing on.

He has the opportunity to slug it out with Haaland and you want him to just give in to Jackson or Madueke who has very little to do with the goal. The best breakthrough premier league season in a long time. He has to be a shoe in for the PFA Young player of the year award. He’s been sensational and Chelsea should really now be looking to build the team around him going forward.

Can't blame Palmer. He let Sterling take it a few weeks back and probably decided after that farce of a miss that he wouldn't be stepping aside again. Gallagher had sorted it out and gave the ball to Cole, and Jackspn then undermined Gallagher's decision by coming over aggressively so Palmer shoving him away with one hand while focusing on the job at hand was just perfect.
Jackson’s coming class , noni does need to get a reality check tho and I’ve absolutely loved galladog this season , he has my vote for captain anyway
