Gakpo didn't slow down and look at Taylor, he stopped specifically because Taylor blew his whistle while Gakpo was running for the ball, which was an unlawful stoppage of the game. Taylor screwed up, and he tried covering it up by feigning an injury to Areola, that man is not fit to referee professional football. This error is genuinely close to the level of the ruled out Diaz goal v Spurs.

That is around 9 points taken from Liverpool now in major games this season. I wonder how the league would look with all those points moved around. I am sure it would look very different to how it does right now. I know for a fact Liverpool's season wouldn't be over, as it so obviously is now. It is so frustrating, is it corruption, or incompetence? If its the latter, how can these people continue to work in the Premier League? So it has to be intentional, yes?

@@Ianchaytor From a Liverpool fan I don't disagree with you but even with all the poor decisions we should be a mile in front and it should not matter.
Tottenham (63% possession, 15 shots with 2 on target) vs Arsenal (9 shots with 3 on target)
Forest (33% possession, 14 shots with 2 on target vs City (11 shots with 5 on target)
West Ham (28% possession, 11 shots with 8 on target) vs Liverpool (28 shots with 8 on target)
How did Arsenal and City win these games? We create the chances and don't score but the teams playing us get the same number of scoring chances as us because of our poor defense. I have no doubt in my mind we should have won this title as we have been the best team for the first 30 games but now limping with 10 dropped points in last 5 games. Gakpo stopped because the ref blew his whistle! Precisely to stop Gakpo from scoring. Why do these 'experts' not do a thorough review of the incident? Same question was asked on MOTD by their 'experts'. We all heard the whistle. And the point here is that to blow the whistle while the game is in play, for no reason whatsoever, is unlawful. Every action taken by the ref thereafter was a cover up for his ineptitude that had real result consequences. Why oh why is nobody in the football media outraged by this? Areola didn't even go down until told to do so.

The ex referee says and i quote. The referee put himself inside hole and dug himself out by broken the law or by error. Does that mean the referee doesn't know the law that governor the game is officiating.

2:13 Dermott Gallagher: "I think the referee has done well to dig himself out."
I think Dermott thinks that the referee was clever to PRETEND that he blew the whistle because he suddenly thought that the goalkeeper was injured (because when goalkeepers are injured, they always pull up their socks). It's so cool to DECEIVE and MISLEAD.
I think Dermott just dug himself into a hole.

Taylor blew the whistle, then gakpo stopped. Then Taylor told the goalkeeper to go down to cover for his mistake. Bloody shameful that he’ll get away with it again. Dermot Gallagher is a total waste of space. They cover up for each other and not accountable for their incompetence

The two senior refs. Taylor & Oliver. Taylor blunders here, again. Oliver misses a stonewall penalty right in front of him and has to be bailed out by VAR. If these are the top two no wonder the whole lot is a car crash.

What actually is the point of having this show if all you do is back up the ref regardless of the nonsense they conduct on the pitch. Gakpo stopped because Anthony Taylor blew the whistle for no legible reason. This show is borderline gaslighting - with the nonsense that they come out with week on week.

It isn't the responsibility of the referee to decide that a player is injured and needs treatment, the exception being with head injuries or if a player is seriously injured, neither was the case and the player didn't ask for treatment so the game plays on, Gallagher trying to protect his ref chums again

this is absolutely pathetic! Come on, please do your job and ask the hard questions... force him to say Taylor screwed up. Steven is correct, the keeper should throw the ball out if he's injured, he didn't and even if he was injured, he threw it on the ground, it's legal, but not fair play to kick the ball in the net, but legal to do it. this was criminal. But Liverpool get shafted weekly, we are used to it by now, almost numb you could say.
2:15 EXCUSE ME!?! Taylor did well? How can you say that? are you covering for him too? This is just pathetic, I'm sorry.
