      There was more competition do Fergie at one stage was up against peak Wenger who went invincible in 04, then Mourinho came and his Chelsea team won in 05 with 95 points and only conceded 15. That was 3 world class teams back then, no one is putting it up to City, Arsenal are average, only Klopp's Liverpool at their best put it up to City and beat them. One has to give Pep his flowers when it comes to coaching and managing his teams. I think mutual respect is a catalyst for a strong team. Pep has always establish his objectives for each season like many clubs do but you can't take the fact away that each player in his squad has a winning mentality, players want to win as a team, grow as an individual and achive personal goals. This is perhaps the best Man City team in the modern game. Money also plays a huge role and money has certainly help Man City achieved it's goals and objectives. Try winning the Premier league without buying big names then we can talk about who the greatest team is I guess. Yes Leicester has won the league without big names but they were not consistent so we can't put them in the category of being a great team, we can respect their achievement that year but consistency is what make you great.

      hit the nail on the head with the player's mentalities. Spans to the supposed selling Cole Palmer 'mistake' too; you've got to wait for the time and moment to be integrated into such an intricate system and if you can't wait and just want immediate personal development as a footballer (which fair enough) and not want to grow and fight for your place in the team then fine, go elsewhere; Pep has his system, and you either respect it, or you go. Was the same with Cancelo. In the end, the best players that fight for the badge and the collective and respect the manager are the ones that stay and go on to win trebles and record points etc.

    • @cloudstr

      Is the team filled with amazing players.. definately. how the team got assembled and maintained till today still baffles me. the transfer fee they pay for the world's best non-English players is way below market price. Till date nobody or team has even attempted to buy any of their world class players is confusing. When you mention leceister, how do they stay consistent when the next season city come in and buy their best player for a cut throat price? not being cynic here but historically every world class player in epl has been approached, eg. ronaldo to madrid, henry to barcelona, but none have left city, not even an offer. is it any wonder they are "consistent" when they are able to maintain the same team throughout the years?

    • @mpr1462
      @mpr1462 Před 27 dny

      @cloudstr by slapping big transfer fees on their players, I agree with what you saying. Let's take Barcelona, for example they've put ridiculous buy-out clauses on their players over the years. • @cloudstr
      @cloudstr Před 27 dny

      @@mpr1462 well...if its similar to what barcelona did, the whole world knew the fees. Eg it would take 200mil to sign mbappe. maybe you are more informed then me, but do you know of the transfer fees for any of man city's star players cause till date no one has any idea? what the buy out fees are for KDB the best midfielder in the world? john stones one of the best defenders, or even ederson? Secodly, if that is the tactic they are adopting, its even more unsustainable. What barcelona did was for a few select players, noone is able to put a huge transfer fee for every single player on the squad and still meet ffp, but yet no one manages to get city's players unless city feels they are no longer relevant

    The answer to the question is Yes. As for the last stat Giggs played in the premier league over two decades. Manchester City have broken practically every major record in English football to compare the arsenal invisibles and Leicester on a par is hilarious. Not the best or most exciting City side we have seen. They are just a " get the job done" Man City. Like all title winning sides they have rode their luck with moments like Doku with his foot up in the chest of a Liverpool player which should have resulted in a defeat. Kovacic should have been sent off in the Arsenal game at the Emirates. Gvardiol should have conceded a penalty early on at Crystal Palace. Third and fourth goals in that match had a whiff of offside. We must also consider how the heavy handed application of FSR this season has forced so many to reduce spending on players and in some cases desperately offloading players to placate the Premier League. That has the impact of dilluting the quality of the league. Hence nobody can compete against City and Arsenal. City already have their all-stars with their £50million Giant Centre-forward leading the line. No one else could buy such a player even if another existed without facing a points deduction.

    You said it yourself. They spent big in the past and then sold them for big money.
    It's like saying you can only spend £50m but you spend £100m instead that they won't fully investigate for a couple of years and get away with it, sell the £100m of players and buy in £100m of new players and say you only spent what you got in and not over and saved £50m that year from the expected spend and turn £50m into a "legitimate" £100m, IE money laundering 🤷🏻‍♂️
    From then onwards, every single signing has been influenced and maintained by laundered money and reputation.

    • @handsolo1209
      @handsolo1209 Před 27 dny +3

      Oh my days, you think that arbitrary rules are money laundering. You have no idea how finance works, especially in football. Sigh...let me explain. If a team signs a player for £50m on a 5 year contract, then on the books it is £10m per season for those 5 years, not £50m in the first season and nothing in the next 4. It is called amortisation. If you then sell the player in year 3 or 4 of that contract, you deduct what is left of amortisation from the books, so you sell him for £100m in year 3, he has cost you £20m so far, giving you a profit of £80m, not the £50m that you aren't able to comprehend.

      @@handsolo1209 wow, so you don't understand representative values and I have to explain it exactly with £105m over 3 years 🤣
      The basics of it is that you spend more than you are allowed but don't reduce it and you take that inflated value and turn it into legitimate values further down the line. The value of the collective team is then inflated because that extra, for example, £50m was never taken away from them, but we all know it's more than £50m, and that was just a representative value of over spend over the 3 year period.
      Not to mention the inflated value of the club after financially doping the team to titles.
      Same goes for any business because it is a business, fair enough it's a push for money laundering, but it's about taking money that isn't allowed and turning it into money that is allowed, apart from it's a civil agreement instead of criminal, still the same actions and results while going against laws/rules in place, also if you artificially adjust your books, which would appear more favourable to investors and mislead them, that is criminal.
      And after the Chelsea fiasco, I think we all understand contract lengths and spreading the cost 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

    • @handsolo1209
      @handsolo1209 Před 27 dny

      @@jamm8284 You are just digging yourself even deeper. You are allowed LOSSES of £105m over 3 years, not only allowed to spend that in 3 years. There is no "money laundering" going on. There is a constant flux in football of transfers. Some players make you a loss (Kalvin Phillips is a did for Man City and will end up costing them a good £30m if they simply release him at the end of the season), but most players don't actually cost that much over the period of the contract. What FFP means is that some clubs will have to sell to balance the books. A team like Luton selling a player for £50m will be huge for their FFP balance. A team like City spending £300m in a window will have very little impact on the balance. You really shouldn't post about things you know nothing about.
