Easy Fix for Air Compressors

  • Often air gunners find themselves without any options when they have an air compressor that no longer works. This helps the case for owning a break barrel air gun as a survival gun when power is out, etc. Too often that air compressor is stored away or even hauled out to the trash, because there is little known about how to fix them. Dr. Russ shares some simple air compressor fixes, when his own begins to leak oil. With Dr. Paula standing nearby, wanting her cookie sheet back and finding where her furniture sliders disappeared to, Dr. Russ repairs his compressor in 15 minutes.

    Did it fix your problem sir? I envy you with all those pcp's! People say I'm crazy for having one or two of them. I also have 2 break barrel springer guns too. A .177, and a .22 calbers. They're great for what they are, but the power of the pcp guns is unrivaled as far as air goes. Anyways to those people who say I'm crazy, I say it's my money, and it's what I like so don't worry about what I buy. Lol Have a good day!

    I dont have a compressor,,,,,, just yet, but i am stacking pennies towards that goal.
    The bucket reservoir though,,,,, as a long time user of water cooling on my computers i will have to do a closed loop.
    And ! that is no problem as i have spare radiators and pumps and so on.
    Look like your generic 2 CYL Tuxing compressor,,,,, and nothing wrong with that, though i wouldn't run my 12 L dive bottle way low, so ar 220 BAR or so i would probably top up again.
    I am looking for something along those lines too, ditched the idea of a 3 X more expensive ( BIG ) compressor.

    Hello Dr Russ, I have been watching your videos and you put out some really good information. I have a lot of guns but didn’t have a pellet rifle. After listening to you I decided to buy the Swarm magnum 22cal gen 3i. When times get tough I may need to go to town and shoot some tame squirrels and rabbits so I wanted a quiet powerful and very accurate rifle. Also a gun that used inexpensive ammo. So thanks to you I was able to choose a good rifle out of the enormous brands and models.
    I am anxious to make a pot of your famous camp beans. Please feel free to share anything that I have mentioned. I feel sure there are other people that need a pellet gun for some of the same reasons that I got one. Also, like you, I just enjoy plinking.

I am planning on using an aqualung to fill the rifle because I live fairly close to a welding supplier. Which connector do you use to connect your bull boss to an aqualung tank ? And where did you purchase the regulator? Also any other accessories or tips you can share would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eddie

      Edward ... it is good to hear from you .... and your air gun is a good one. I believe welding tanks can be used ... but not positive... check out our channel and find a video on filling compression tanks ... you are going to need a regulator to screw in the top ... that aqua lung tanks already have ... and welding tanks dont ... plus you will need a scuba store nearby who will fill that tank for you ... while a welding shop might only compress gas and not air.... Another great video. I just started with my gx pump cs1-i and I'm really worried about moisture. I filled my AEA .30 SF the other day and the fill port was covered in water, but when I fill my air venturi avenger bullpup, this doesn't happen. The only tip I've been able to find on you tube is keep the gun higher than the compressor. I don't think this will help much because were dealing with a vapor not so much gravity. I bought a $50 inline cotton and carbon filter but no air passes through it. So, I'm gonna take out the carbon and ad molecular sieve desiccant beads from Wally world ($20 for 2 LBS) between the cotton filters and then switch out the beads and filters to dry every so often. Keeping the beads to cook them and reuse them. I wish someone would make a video on the "Do's and Don'ts" of filling an air rifle with these inexpensive compressors. Do you know of a good video for this?

    • @russjones6497
      @russjones6497 Před rokem +2

      Jeff ... it is good to hear from you, and while I have done several videos on "air" ... I did not cover the problem you are having. It might be solved by simply filling your air gun outside on a warm day, particularly if you have a cool, high humidity home... and definitely not in a high humidity basement or fruit cellar. Your compressor might also have a cotton filter in it, and by adding your new one, you are asking your compressor to pack air thru two filters. Hopefully these experiences will help you... keep us in your loop... Dr. Russ

    Do the springs in break barrel rifles loose their tension over time? Sure glad I discovered your channel. A very good video.

    • @russjones6497
      @russjones6497 Před rokem +2

      Bert Cochran ... it is good to hear from you .... and yes ... all springs can lose their tension over time, when they are left on a compressed state ... or cocked ... for a long time. Some Break Barrels are not "Springers" and do not have the spring I believe you are referring to. They work on the power of a piston with air only. They are far more forgiving and can be left cocked for a week ... but I do not endorse that ... I believe that a cocked gun is also an unsafe gun and can be fired by accident ... even by the owner. You should shoot "Springers" and "Piston" air guns shortly after cocking them. Please stay in touch ... sharing your air gun info and experiences with us ... Dr. Russ

    It is indeed an easy job and if you have not done it with, it is recommended to use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts with equal tension. Good anecdote from Dr.Paula that you have more air rifles than she has..... , the name escapes me. Make up for the damage with each gift day until you're even to keep the peace in the house.

    • @russjones6497

      J Verfaillie ... she said that I have more air guns than she has "shoes".... Yes, torque wrenches are important ... and probably more important than a mechanical part that is holding 4000 psi than a gasoline engine holding much less....l use to have a torque wrench but it has disappeared... possibly a brother borrowed it. Nonetheless, I torqued those bolts down very snug... knowing it was made of aluminum and needed to be tight at the same time.... Dr. Russ

      Superblackhawk, many of the compressors in the $400 to $600 range have a plug that goes to a home wall socket... but they typically have a second device for another $100 that allows you to plug into it while it has two alligator clamps that connect to a vehicle battery. Lastly is a scuba type tank, which also needs a valve, gauge and high pressure hose too ... costing another $100. Keep us in your circle of info and experience.. Dr. Russ
