  • In this video, we look at a way to drill a hole in a glass bottle.
Diamond core drill bits are perfect for the job.
    The procedure is very simple:
    Cover the bottle with water.
Use a cordless drill and a diamond drill bit to drill a hole.
For safety reasons, DO NOT use a drill with the cable.
(in case you drop it in the water)
You can use Instamorph moldable plastic to make a guide that will help you to drill a hole in exact point you wish.

Hello, Thank you for posting this video. I have a few questions for you. Do you recommend any particular brand of diamond core drill bit / hole saw? I realize that you are located in Spain and I am in the U.S.A. I don't know if we have access to the same brands of products or not. Also, how many holes are you typically able to drill with one of your drill bits before it gets dull or wears out? Finally, for decorating bottles with light strings, what diameter hole do you recommend? I was thinking around a 1" hole. Thank you for any information that you can provide. Take care, Matt

    • @ShakeTheFuture
      @ShakeTheFuture  Před 8 lety +1

      Hi Matt!
I used the same or similar kind of drill bits you can get on Amazon.com (link in description).
I got mine from China (aliexpress or eBay), but I believe that it's exactly the same products, just sold under a different brand name.
I don't know how many holes you can drill before they become dull. I am still using the same drill bit set I bought a year ago and it still does the job.
To be honest, I don't use them often.
It's hard to say about the best hole size for the string lights.
Only you know what look you are trying to achieve.
In my experience it's easier to drill many small holes in the bottle than many big holes.
1" hole is not too big and not too small, so it might be perfect. Then again, I don't know what exactly you are trying to do.
I think it's best if you get a diamond core drill bit set and play around.
Use a spare bottle to drill a few holes that are different size and see what you get.
      Cheers!
      Denny

you will need a flat surface which the mirror can rest on (so if it's a big mirror, better not do it in the sink, also there will be a higher risk to whichever container you end up using, seen as you could accidentally end up drilling a hole into it as well) then it should probably work.
