Never stops to fascinate me
Floor is a queen of singing emotions. She has so much experience, technique, power and understanding on when and how exactly to use her abilities, and she is such a perfectionist and a "vocal nerd" (as she said herself) that her singing is not just a singing. It is raw emotion. You'll feel what I mean by watching her BZ performance Mama. This song is totally in dutch, but you don't need to understand a word to feel the emotion that Floor is creating through the song. ( czcams.com/video/sj1ibZrjQTs/video.html )

Yes, she did it low key for a purpose. This is a masterclass of emotional singing of ballads. I particularly love the little gravels in the crescendo parts. They are so delicate. Great stuff!
Oddly enough no one in her home country even really knew who Floor Jansen was. They do now cause of this show.

The metal scene is not very mainstream radio music, but enough people knew her.
Just not the regular pop song listeners.
Floor’s version of Shallow hit number one on the Netherlands iTunes chart. 😄

The only word you didn't say that I thought was...delicate. This show is a feeding pond for you. She does an operatic song in German with a splash of metal. Changes up a salsa song in Spanish with a little metal. Sings Phantom with her childhood opera idol. Plus two or three others. Hope you do some of them. Be well.

If she ever takes the solo show on a huge tour you do what ever you have to do, to get tickets for it.;-)
When you're doing "Beste Zangers" make sure you take the clips of "jenniezelf", as she has also included the talking / interviews before and after with english subtitles.
The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them. It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. So it is very interesting to get to know the story behind each song.
And it will help to understand the reactions of the other singers.Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is legendary.

You are right on my man. Floor focuses on the word pronunciation. She purposely kept it delicate and intimate. She did not want to imitate Gaga. She likes Gaga very much and has covered "Bad Romance" as well with her old band Revamp.

great reaction- yes floor does that so good makes you feel what she is singing- her home land didnt really know her until the beste zangers- the first song villa lied was thier first time seeing her there, she sings that in german and then mama in dutch , que se siente in spanish the rest in english-she is a special lady, glad you enjoyed it-they are all singers except for the host who sits next to the person of the week-(in the middle couch) all the other singers sing them a song they either love or wrote ect, in their way- it is an awesome show. hope you react more to it.

Excellent reaction. You're the firstI recall to point out her pronunciation and that's a major thing that makes her singing so great. I talked to another professional singer in depth and he pointed that out too as her best asset in her singing. You want hear Floor sing something really heavy apart from Nightwish's more heavy songs? Then you need to check out her former band ReVamp. Disdain live at Graspop or Wild Card live at Bloodstock. The last one is really mindblowing, but the sound is not that great, even if it's an official video.

Floor's ability to suck tears out of grown men on command is remarkable. I have the same reaction every time, no matter how many times I've seen it.

IIRC part of classical voice training is learning how to pronounce words in languages you don't speak (lots of classical pieces & operas in German and Italian), and I think that might partly explain her why her pronunciation is so accurate, not just in English, but in German and Spanish too.
I'm not classically trained, but I did major in linguistics, so I can do the same thing, and sometimes I'll sing songs in different languages for fun.

Dimash is not in the same league as Floor. Dimash is more like Tarja to me. Big head! Big ego but not to much all around talent. His stage shows are awesome. Very well coriagrafed. But fake.
