I've been around for a long time. Seen many great musicians, athletes, actors...but I've always said that stars shine only in the nightly heavens. Floor has proven me wrong. Our eyes and ears have been blessed by a living legend. It's a shame that most Americans are clueless of her existence because she is a heavenly gift to us.

Beste zangers is such a nice Dutch show. The singers sing each other’s songs ( or favorites like Shallow). Floor was amazing in Beste Zangers 2019. This year is Anneke van Giersbergen, Floor’s idol in the past, one of the singers. She is adorable. Greetings from The Netherlands

Floor's dynamic rage is simply unparalleled. She can go from the softest of whispered notes to peeling the paint off the walls within a single note. That, coupled with her incredible vocal range and emotional connection with the songs she sings make her one of the greatest (if not the greatest) female vocalists on the planet. She can take a song from almost any genre and make it hers.

I am a big old tough guy...ex-college football player, offensive lineman at 6'6" and 350 lbs.....and there are plenty of songs with Floor singing that bring tears to my eyes! What n I first heard this cover...I was totally blown away! Tears running down my cheek..so much so that my wife asked me if I was okay!! ( side note...my left leg has been operated on multiple times, and I have severe nerve damage in that leg, which causes me to be in a great deal of pain, 24-7-365!) I let her listen to this song..and she teared up...and asked me why she wasn't here in the US! She said she would be a mega star in the US!
If you haven't listened to "Dead Boy's Poem".... you'll hear a softer, gentler Nightwish...just make sure you have some Kleenex on hand. Also...get the lyrics and read up on the song! It's a tear jerker!

She already admitted that in some deep songs she cannot concentrate so much in the audience because if she sees someone crying, she'll start crying.

the first time that i saw Floor live on stage i was just 10 years old and this night in Wacken changed my life.Meanwhile i saw her 2015 in London with Nightwish and 2019 solo in Amsterdam.For me is Floor the one and only Queen on stage.

She does a cover of 2 songs from the Frozen franchise: "Let it Go" and "Into the Unknown". She covers Hearts' cover of the song "Alone". She SLAYS it on "Adagio", "Oblivion" and "Agape"!!!!!!
You could do worse than to react to the rest of her performances on this show. For that matter, all the rest of the singers featured in this season along with Floor, gave excellent performances.

The very best by this show is the fact, that this is not a competition. They are just some good singers, who are singing originals from each other (or sometimes other songs which where at least important to them) and encouraging each other in their craft.

In Germany we have a similar show called "Sing my Song". But unfortunately there are no YT-Videos of that to react to.
Floor is clearly on another level ..she just grabs your soul like that ..
Now, imagine if you had listened to that without pausing. The emotions would have been so great, you would have been sobbing.

One of my favorites is when she sang the song for Ralph who is a Spanish/Dutch singer.
She had to learn enough Spanish to sing his song, switched it up her way and killed it so well her version hit the charts. So good.
All her performances were fire.
The older fellow Henk Poort is an Opera singer famous for being the Dutch Phantom of the Opera (Floors inspiration and hero growing up), young guy in stripes Ruben is pop, younger girl Emma is a You Tube cover artist, Ralph is spanish/pop artist, other woman Samantha is more traditional Dutch/soft music, and Tim Ackerman is Rock/punk.
It's a great show - just a bunch of artists sharing music in an intimate setting with a great backup band. (They toured with Floor all over The Netherlands after the show doing songs from it and a few Nightwish songs for fun)
Now you can hear how versatile Floor's vocal ability is in many different genres. From Opera, to Metal, to pop. Wait until you hear her duet with Henk Poort (older man on the couch) doing "Phantom of the Opera". Emotional responses are a big part of her vocal ability. A full Floorgasm will make the hair on your arms stand on end and give you the chills. Loved it S & M!
There is a presenter plus seven singers and each show one of them sits with the host and the other six sing a relevant song to them. This song was to Emma Heesters the girl in the red dress. Floor was magnificent every week. Sings songs in English, Dutch, German and Spanish.
Good that i saw your video! Went on september 1st to Floor her concert, that was the first one after 1,5 years from her and it was great! Henk Poort was her guest and they did The Phantom of the Opera as the last song. Have you seen that one?

Just want to add a bit to the comment by William Thomas below --- in your reaction you speak about tearing up: there is a story to go along with the Beste Zangers song "Winner", (link at czcams.com/video/ttfQqnskTO8/video.html). The person Floor was singing the song for, Tim Akkerman, had just previously produced an album entitled "Lions Don't Cry", and had made a kind of informal bet with Floor that he could not be made to tear up by Floor in her singing. When it was her turn to sing a song specifically for him, she chose the song "Winner". And at the end of the song he does in fact tear up. In the video of the song produced as the "Official Version", above, it ends just when they hug after the song. But if you watch the video that includes the entire one hour performance where the tape keeps running, just after the place where the official video of the solo song ends, you can hear Tim, just under his breath, say "Fuck, you ..." So there you go! NEVER enter into a tear-jerking contest with Floor !!!

She did Phantom of the Opera on this show with Henk Poort....worth a listen. She also has done solo stuff on her channel. Alone, the Heart song, Let It Go and Into The Unknown from the Frozen movies. Floor is amazing.
You will also enjoy the duet shallow she does on the show. But so many gems from that show for you to uncover including different genres and languages.
This is a Dutch TV show. No competition like in American TV. No judges. Just a few singers on holidays and they need to sings songs that means something for others . That's it. No fake. Real live with emotions. You should watch all floor songs. So many different styles she does

yeah, shes something else. she could have belted them all to the wall on this distance, without any mic. as she sang it for the young lady, and knowing what it means to her, she altered the text and did her way, still or better more amazing then expected. did just find your NW recaps, going down in timeline, nice you two. you already got me as you were touched by noise.
Now for a little Floor Jansen that will really show just how incredible her voice is. She appeared on Beste Zangers in 2019 this is a touch tv show where they have a panel of singers from all genres. Each episode is dedicated to one singer who sits with the host; the other singers will perform a song from the featured artists catalog or a song that is known to mean something to the artist. The links I'm providing are full episodes so you can get the English subtitles. In the series that she was in one singer knew Floor's work well, and Henk Port who is one of Floor's idols knew of her (familiar with but not in depth). All of the others didn't know of her ... so watching the back stories as each song she sings comes out and then the reactions as they all watch ... no won't be your type of music though I do believe you will be amazed by what she does.
There are youtube versions of the songs without the back stories and without subtitles. if you can do a reaction with the subtitle clips and at least part of the back story it will make your reactions unique as no one does these versions that I've seen.
Episode 1 is Henk Port, a well known opera/musical theater performer. Very well known for being the lead in Phantom of the Opera in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe. Andrew Loyd Webber said Henk was his favorite in the role. That is how Floor first saw him and she became a huge fan. She opens the singing for the series doing a song that Henk's mother sang often ... she was a well known opera singer. At 9:00 minutes in they start talking to Floor as she speaks about being a fan and the song she will sing. I don't want to spoil the surprise ...

Episode 4 had Floor in the seat of honor. Fun to watch and see the comments but other than Henk's version of Sound of Silence I don't recall a song that really stands out. None of them took on a Nightwish song. Samantha did take on a song that Floor wrote and performed with her own band before she joined Nightwish. OOPS correction Emma Hesters was off the charts a song Floor wrote about her mother's long battle with Rheumatoid arthritis

Episode 7 Tim Akkerman
Floor sings a song that Tim wrote for his brother. The back story is very important to put the song into context. Floor with the help of her sister translated it and changed the wording slightly to portray the meaning of the song in English and to include pointing out that it also fit Tim. In the episode Tim was very open about how he was in a bad place in his teens and his mother placed into a hospital to get help for his anger / emotional issues. That is in part why Floor wanted Tim to hear that his wonderful song for his brother really applies to both of them. Start at 43:25

Episode 8 Duets
The last song of each season is duets where they pick a partner ... I think it's telling that only one of the singers chose Floor. They each chose one and only Tim Akkerman who already knew her work well asked her. She asked Henk Port to sing Phantom of the Opera with her and he agreed on one condition that when they could he would join her onstage with Nightwish to do it at a concert as well. Nightwish does a metal version now and then though not sure they have done it with Floor.

As Anders said below, Winner , the same show. This will make you tear up, it was written by Tim, the curly haired guy on the show, for his brother who is confined to a wheel chair. Tim always said that he never cries, until Floor finished the song. With tears in his eye's you can see him mouth the words "F&*k you Floor"". The link is below.

Love your reactions...love seeing your facial expressions when you really feel it......but with that i just wanted to say a couple things as far as the production part when uploading the videos....sometimes your audio when editing is way too high and is distorting and not the same as what you are hearing in your headphones. Also Floor's last name is not pronounced JANcen the J has a Y sound. YANcen. Keep up the great work and def dig deeper into the Beste Zangers performances, I liked watching each episode in their entirety with sub titles where you can see how much Floor was unknown in her own country until this show.

You have months of content to go if you center it off Floor's career. Her two previous endeavors "After Forever" und "Revamp", then of course Nightwish with at least four epic concerts to follow, Wacken (we say W's as a V), Wembley (back to W), Tampere, und Buenos Aires. Beste Zangers (Best Singers), her collabs mit Epica as well as Ayreon. We are set for a while und Gabriels list as well as other inputs are invaluable as to what concert has best version of song. Great reaction to this extraordinary singer, Shawn and Mel. For some reason, the sound from the performance was a bit distorted. Not sure if this is something you can resolve but it was a bit distracting.
