"Bitter Taste" Lyrics
The bitter taste
On my tongue
Many holes
The damage done
It’s bitter sweet
Black on gold
Talk is cheap
Or so I’m told
I’m gonna ride this bike
to the edge of town
Roll to the bridge with my eyes shut
and spit at the stars
Scream in the dark
There’s nothing I can do to change it now
But if I cut myself open, baby,
you can read all my scars
Read all my scars
Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
Should’ve left me way back
Should’ve left me way back
by the roadside
Hello, goodbye
I was staring in the devil’s eyes
Should’ve left me way back
Should’ve left me way back
by the roadside
It’s a bitter taste
Jagged stain
On my skin
Broken leg
Born again
Wide glide
Upside down
Twisted frame
My new crown
I’m gonna ride this bike ‘til the break of day
Rollin’ through the garden like the fountain
won’t take it away
I’m not gonna change
I’m gonna live so hard these broken wings
will lift me to the sun
so I can burn up in the flames
Again and again
Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
Should’ve left me way back
Should’ve left me way back
by the roadside
Hello, goodbye
I was staring in the devil’s eyes
Should’ve left me way back
Should’ve left me way back
by the roadside
It’s a bitter taste
It’s a jagged stain
It’s a bitter taste
It’s a jagged stain
Hello, goodbye
There’s a million ways to die
Should’ve left me way back
Should’ve left me way back
by the roadside
It’s a bitter taste

Had the pleasure of creating the jacket Billy is wearing. Such a nice dude to work for and still such a badass
BFI forever !! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
XIII.
The jacket looks swell on him, you did a fabulous job🌞
So FREAKING Cool!!!
Dude!!! The jacket is so sick!! Keep crushing it!
The metal _zipper like spine_ in the back is badass , but what gives with the tassels at the sleeves?
COOLEST JACKET EVER! Great Job Charles
Billy has aged like a fine wine. This song is amazing!
Exactly what I’m saying heard for the first time today while I had a moment of clar I cried cuz it said all I had to say to myself I felt it was a sign

@user-bq1sj4gc3m Trudeau yes. Billy no
I'm 53 years old. I have never left a comment on any platform like CZcams etc... I felt compelled to do so after hearing this. For 4:50 i felt hopeful again for modern music. I can not remember the last time i heard new music and wanted to hear it again and again. This hit me like the music i listened to in my youth. So well written and performed. Excellent job Billy and the band. Bravo!
I'm 55 , and this is song is pure 100% diamond. Listening again...again...and again.... This kind of songs I always baptize "on the road". Listening and driving....
I'm 65 and still enjoy his music to this day. I usually can't listen to the samething over and over. I grow tired of it and move on. In the 90 and even now their isn't much music that I really find appealing. I don't listen to the radio anymore. It was nice when MTV played videos. You could get a feel for what was out there. Billy Idol always had great videos. I like this video and also where he's playing at hover dam. His music is one that I've never became tired of listening to.
Yes! Keep playing this over and over! Hope he hears that we all all just finding it now! Maybe he should rerelease it! I heard it at a coffee shop and thought, wait this sounds familiar. So I shazamed it and wow! It was Billy! Awesome song!
I recommend Kaleo, and Ben Howard... they have songs with good lyrics and a touch similar to this...
Best comment
This song is better that 99% of the shit they push out today. This should be in the top 10.
What? His voice is number one*x
It really isn't, and you are extremely deluded to think so. This is sub-par music at best. It's average, and hardly compares to the songs he put out in the 80s.
@@dominic2196this is a great song you bellend. Trying to compare this song to his 80s stuff is like comparing a silent movie to a current film. 2 different things. This song compliments him.
Agreed. They don’t make music like this anymore. This chorus is so fHking catchy. Hello..,goodbye
@@lardy70s Nah. It's just utter garbage plain and simple. Paired with a cringe-inducing video it's a recipe for disaster. Billy Idol fell off, hard. Now piss off.
We need to appreciate Billy Idol more while he's here. He's a living legend and still making music.
ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY
Hell yeah....he's still got it man...
F*ck yeah!!! I love this song!!!!!
We actually apreciate Billy Idol...lol
Should be in rock n roll hall of fame
I can't understand a world that doesn't see this song as an instant classic. Just jaw dropping.
their brains don't tell them what's good.
I do.
Move along...

Completely agree with you. The song is melodic and moving at the same time.
Take it easy, i just found it and i really like it. Didn’t think i’d like a new song from an old dinosaur like him so much.
I'm sad this song didn't receive more exposure. I just heard it a few days ago and right away fell in love with it. Way to go Billy! one of the best songs I have heard in years. Hopefully, the best is yet to come!
Hi there. You're absolutely right. Best song of the year. Puts these so called "artists" of today's generation to shame.
@Pedro Pena
I agree, I feel that way too 🤨♥️
Yeh. Media just wants to blast all that violent bullshit with 16+ producers on one song. Its pathetic
He is the best
You're absolutely right....just heard it last week, and I can't stop listening to it, and the video is Iconic...wow..the White Angel Wings at the end...I Love it...Thank You Billy!!!
He's not an idol. He's a LEGEND.
This sounds like classic Idol. He’s still got it
He was good but not this good. Now he's better. Time has taught him.
God daaaaamn he's still got it...one of the many many great bands that came out of the 80's .
Love how his voice has matured like a fine wine. Sounding even better.
Wow, I was thinking the same. He has a hint of Roy Orbison, in this song.
Thought he sounded a bit like Johnny Cash near the end, too.
So very true ,like u said just like a fine wine ,yeahhhh.
Love it. Hope he keeps giving us more!
Matured, yes, and it’s very appropriate. Still, I wonder if some autotune is shining through here and there (which, if so, would not take anything from this superb song, imho).
I've been a fan since I was 12-year-old. For me a new album by Billy idol was like an event. I'm 51 years old now. I'm glad to be alive to continue hearing music from my favorite artist
I got six years on ya, but I KNOW exactly what you mean
He adds a whole chapter to the term "Ages like Fine Wine" 😁
I used to que at record shops (when they still existed) to get the new album and EXPLORE
Even got a free Billy t-shirt on day one in Whiplash Smile era!!! 😊
Wore it till it fell apart
You're 51 and you got 51 likes. 🤘🏼
Billy is amazing! Love him
I miss the days when you could go to s record shop. There was one where I grew up and every week they would have anywhere from a couple of albums on sell to maybe 5 or 6. I went every Friday or Saturday and bought the albums. I also went to used record shops close to various campuses. They would sell albums to go out for a weekend or buy something like else they needed. A lot of pot . Remember when you could buy albums for 2.00 sometimes less. I have over 3000 albums. Didn't want to pay the price of CD'S when they came out. So I bought cassettes which I have maybe just 500 of those. I started buying CD'S and have more than 3000 of them last time I counted them it was close to 4000. I've bought a few since but that was years ago. I use to go to used CD stores around AZ State . I had a small notebook I kept with a list of music I was looking for. I'd also leave a list with the used stores and when they got a CD in I was looking for. People would bring in CD'S and they would have stacks of them on as counter that they hadn't priced yet. Thry would tell people to leave them alone they need to price them and go through to see if anything was there that people had requested. They ket me go through them probably because I bought a lot if CD'S. I'd always leave with a stack. One guy wss going in to sell the complete catalog of the Beatles. I met him in the parking lot before he made it in. I asked him what he wanted for them , he said I don't know. I said I'll give you 50.00 right now he thought for a min and said ok. What a steal. I have the original albums. My albums are all super clean. No scratches on them when holding them under a florescent light. I always make sure that the inside jacket is turned so they don't come out. Handle them by edges and label only. Even when I was a kid I handled them that way. They still have original poster with them. They're worth a lot of money. I'd like to sell them but I want them to go to a nice home. I have the first pressing when the albums 1st came out. I've seen Black Sabbath go for more than 300.00 in the show Pawn Shop show in Vegas.
BILLY WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THE BITTER SWEET REBEL
This is one of the best songs of his career.
I concur!!
Second that.
Yes it's a great song ,but also save me now was as good .
Agree
Yes!!!
Well played, Billy Idol, well played.
He never fails to bring it
Indeed. Great song. Super cool video.
Good to see you here Doc! Been a sub of yours for a few years now, and am going to be listening to your stuff shortly.
I was surprised to see the Doc 🤣👍 after watching this it’s time for story 😉
You said it before I could...nice. :)
At almost 70 Billy Idol is still a rock star. I wonder how many people know that he was BORN to be a rock star.
Been listening to Billy for over 40 long years. This is a brilliant track.
Takes us back, doesn't it..rock on, rock hard
Just wanna take a sec and thank the 80's & 90s for giving us the opportunity to watch all of our Icons develop 🙏🏽❤️
YES!
Idol made a name for himself in the 70s with Generation X.
@@harry554 said every generation/civilisation ever since 3000 years basically
Yes, I started to know Billy by a friend of mine whose big brother was a drummer in a small rock band (punk-rock) who played in youth centers in France in the suburbs of Paris at the time (I'm French). I was 16 years old. At the time Billy Idol was still part of the "Gen X" band. To say that it was a really long time ago, I also remember Killing Joke, The Clash, etc. (At the time in France, in the same kind of music we had "Les garçons bouchers", "Trust", Téléphone, etc. and a little later "La Mano Negra", "Les Négresses Vertes", etc.)

Instant classic!!! I love the way old-school singers are showing that music is a never-ending journey to inspire others.
Billy is everything to me, has been my entire life…I honestly didn’t think he had something like this still in him. I’m in tears. What a gift. This is peak stuff here. Unreal. We love you Billy!

This is certainly a bittersweet journey, isn't it?
Well said sir. I mean I'm 59 FFS, and simply don't believe in this 'growing up' thing.

Billy, you have written my hymn !! Exactly four years ago, I got sick and had to stay in hospital and rehab for 3 months. I had doubted whether I was to come out of this alive. Since then, nothing has been the same. the bitter taste remains no matter how I try to stay positive and move on. You express exactly how hurt I feel inside and how it still feels... THANK YOU SO MUCH !!
Ich bin seit meinem 13. Lebensjahr Billy Fan. I love you my IDOL...
We totally disregard any person making music over the age of 35 and let 20 year old's tell us how to think and feel. This is a great song from someone who has lived life and seen some crazy shit go down. Billy is a fucking legend!!
totally agree!
He sounds better than ever, seriously. And I was not a fan of his back in the heyday. But this is excellent.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, I sincerely appreciate 🙏🏻, where are you watching from?

Same here.
I will be 80 then (perhaps). And still rockin on...
Class is permanent!
I like it how the guy is in his sixties and still keeping it Real. No Facelifts or hiding, just him and his Song. I salute you , Sir. RH DSD
Billy is master of the old school of rock......yet he still thrives, creating masterpieces like this one. He is what he was and he will be......One of the greatest rockstars ever.
It's amazing and cool!
A brilliant song with hints of Chris Izaak and Johnny Cashs' later work. Best work from Billy.👍
Also reminded me of Chris Isaac. And of course you are right, there's also something of Johnny Cash.
A great song.
I sense the Johnny cash. But also a Hint of of Bowie as well. They. We're friends but never got to tour together
Yep, my first thought within 10 seconds was Johnny Cash, then that background track... totally Chris Isaak. It's GREAT!
Dave Vanian also
I believe I can hear a bit of Lord Huron in there too.
When is this legend going to get the recognition he deserves? Absolutely love him BILLY FUCKING IDOL 😍 ❤
What are you talking about? He’s super famous. How did he “not get recognition? “
Thats what we call him too. Billy fucking idol. Also have a friend named billy fucking adams. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
Billy, this song is 'Brilliant'! I love all your songs! You are a modern day Mozart!
This song touched me deeply. Sometimes an artist doesn't know how much he make an impact on others. This song certainly do. Billy Idol for ever!!!
I heard this song in The Umbrella Academy and I immediately fell in love with it. I need to revisit Billy Idol’s work!
Mee too.
Yes sir
Me too....great song
Thankyou ! I was wondering where I had heard it before.
💕
Songs like this once in a while make us realize how timeless Billy's music is
If he had recorded this back in the '80s, this song would have a strong rotation on MTV (when that channel was good of course).
I’ve always loved that he just sounds like Billy Idol and nobody else. He has his own style andrhythm and always seems to tie it all together in a neatly wrapped whiplash smile sort of package.
Billy Idol, in my opinion, is one of the best singers to ever appear. Their songs continue to be very good. Stevie Stevens' work is unbeatable. Bitter Taste one of their best songs. Thanks Idol!
Billy is a survivor. I’ve been a fan of his since the early 80’s and finally saw him live in ‘03. The guy simply gets better with age. I just love him!
Same here, i saw him in Helsinki after accident.that tour
I wonder sir, if this song is a nod to Warrant - The Bitter Pill, just a notion
lucky bastard been dying to see him live.
really? he looks like crap, get some plastic surgery
@@jasonshirrillmusic He’s aged well and is still rocking it.
As good as anything he's ever written. Hats off to this legend. Ride on, brother!
Really sounds fresh like back in the day....Eyes Without a Face Era
I'm 60 years old still listening to Billy idol since the early 80s and I'm still here may 2024.
I just saw him play this Sunday. He opened for the Foo Fighters at the Aspen Jazz Fest. He fucking stole the show! Everyone there was so blown away. You don't expect the opener to put the headliner to shame. But my God he still has it! He's a fucking legend!! This song hasn't gotten near enough attention. Love it!
My God. How? How does he consistently stay so good and get even better? His voice is still good, clear and strong. He just gets better. No wonder he's my favorite male singer.
I just saw him in concert and the guy still has it!
Some artists age like wine.
And who's your favorite singer ?
He has a godly voice. The right amount of raspiness and very melodic as well
▶️🅰️
Brilliant Billy Idol. Reinventing himself. Not like other old rockers, which look like parody. You are still the Idol
I’m not so sure he reinvented himself. He’s a true musician. He just keeps going forward. But I understand your sentiment.
@@howieduwit2551 I think we agree. What I mean is that he's not a parody of himself, like others
@@manuelcaravaca5773 You are absolutely correct!
He is one of the last of the true rockers... what you see is what you get. Im old enough to remember. Still sounds awesome.
@@glideconsulting6797 I agree.... But if you're not familiar with them u should check out an Iron Maiden show......😉
So sorry I'm late to the party with this song. Love just about anything Billy sings and this one is no exception! No one croons and growls like Billy. Love that you're still in the game!❤
I won't say he's still got it because in my opinion he never lost it! This ticks all my boxes, great guitar, lyrics and that awesome gritty Billy Idol sound.
Amen!
This man is a legend, that’s all I got to say….he’s never ever disappointed, not even once. He deserves all the success and love anyone could ever receive. Just so talented!😌👑
Kings and Queens of the Underground was a fantastic record! One of his best ever. I can't wait to listen to more off this new one.
Very well said
He is very very underrated, indeed I love this new song!
Agreed!
He's one of my favorites but his late 80's and 90's stuff like Money Money was really disappointing to me. Rebel Yell was a masterpiece then he started doing run of the mill music.
I do like this new one though.
Dude still got it.
I cannot believe this song didn’t get more attention, unreal man, I have no words except that he’s still got it
Not only is the songwriting as good as ever, but it seems like his voice hasn't changed much at all either, there's a slight rasp that wasn't there before and the lower notes are more gravely than he used to be but it actually sounds pretty cool, not like his voice is strained or shot like some artists when they get old. Glad this dude is still around and putting out good music. I was born just in time to see a lot of my favorite artists die off so I cherish the ones we have left.
right? I'm loving what time has done to his voice, that gravelly, wizened sound is really genuine now.
You're right! Billy's voice sounds very rich and resonant. In fact, it sounds better now than when I'd first heard him many years ago with "White Wedding!" There is something about this that reminds me of Nick Cave, a little "goth," but also very rootsy :)
same thing happened to Jhonny Cash's voice, the older the better

Amazing songwriting. The melodic line, the emotion created in the right moment with proper transtions to minor chords, the pop aura, the country road feel and the rock attitude. The Chorus is superb! That G major chord when he says "Hello" going to Bm when he says "goodbye" is epic! Long live Billy Idol.
Billy all grown up and his voice is better than ever, so much soul and depth...love it!
This was one of my Dad's favorite singers. He has since passed, but he would've totally dug this song.

High five to your pops in heaven!! My deepest condolences and respect to your father and his memory. It's a great song. I know he would love it too
It's like Billy took Chris Isaak and Johnny Cash and mashed them into this epic song. Great job guys! I'm impressed!

Absolutely and Amen to that 🙏
This is fucking brilliant. Welcome back, Billy.
FACT 👍
Amazing artist who never sold out, incredible vocalist and this is one of the best songs ever written by anyone in years.
I Agree!
Totally agree with that!
Define Sellout. I agree with your statement but I don't agree with a lot of other so called sellouts
I agree on both points. I can't think of a better written song going back a ways.
Such a triumphant song. At least that's how I hear it. There will be countless covers of it.
So here I am 40 years ago, thinking "Flesh For Fantasy" is once and forever peak Idol, moving like a panther, sexy and dangerous...
and now, holding *this song's* beer.
This is one of my new favourite songs by Billy Idol I just can’t stop listening to it
Looks like billy is signing about his motorcycle accident that almost killed him 6 of February of 1990. I'm glad he his still with us love billy idol he's still a rebel.
i was thinking the same thing!!!
It's 100% that, Billy said as much himself at the concert in Wisconsin last week. Outside of that, it also seems to touch generally on Billy's more self-destructive decisions in life. Glad he came out the other side, world is a better place with him in it.
My thoughts exactly
He said that's exactly what inspired this song last night in Washington
Didn't know that.
I love that he's never been afraid to go all-in. He takes big swings. Do they always connect? No. But when they do? Awesome.
Well said. His concert on PBS a few years ago rocked the house. Watched it 4 or 5 times.
Cyberpunk. Lolz
I've been obsessed with Billy Idol for a while now, but throw stones at me, this is his best song, long live the Repeat feature😁😇
Wie kann mann nur so geile Lieder rausbringen ! Ich Liebe diesen Billy er ist einfach so ein geiler Typ
Hammer oder? Ich habs auch nebenbei entdeckt. Ein Meisterstück Amerika.
You can't write and perform a song as soulful as this without experiencing the darkness Billy went through with his motorcycle accident. Such beauty from such suffering.
The song and the video made me think of my best friend. She died in September 2021 in a motorcycle accident. She made no mistake, a car driver didn't see her and she crashed into the car. She died there, beside the road, the ambulance could not rescue her. I am thinking about it everyday and I miss her so much. Still, there is hope to meet again sometime, somehow...
Billy is a true survivor , some of us go through dark times , its a hard time , but we keep going
Yes, I believe you hit the nail on the head. When a person can take his/her suffering and transform it into a song so that you also feel it. A true artist and I have so much respect for him.
Yes, beauty from ashes …
I was a passenger on the back of a road bike in 90 and forced into the oncoming traffic leaving deer Creek reservoir just east of salt Lake City. One of my best friends driving "Dennis W Nash miss you my brother "did not survive the accident. It really seems the coolest of the cool ,the people I look up to ,the people I want to hang out with .those that I don't want to go,go too soon. Perhaps that's just perspective I don't know but I'm 52 years old now and I sure do get lonely for the old days sometimes.. I'd like to think I've learned some valuable lessons along the way and I have the hard way of course. I have more than just hope I have faith that I will see my friend again someday sometime somewhere as well as my family and you're a grateful for my limited knowledge and Christianity. I do believe Jesus Christ is my savior .I do believe he died for my sins and I do believe he came back that we may all be forgiven. It's in this belief that I have faith to see my friends and family again and to be with them forever. No matter how alone or lost I feel I know that God likes me and for that I am truly grateful.
It seems when I watch the news it's very easy to develop a negative perspective. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the news feeds on the negative energy and that's what drives the madness. When I stop take a deep breath look around me and think about it from a real perspective there's still a lot of beautiful in the world a lot of good and a lot of cool. I'm going to try and focus on those parts and leave the rest alone. Nobody ever got ahead one a war or became successful by worrying themselves into it. What will be will be and things out of my control are things I try not to worry about. Not to the point of ignorance for many of these things good potentially change my life as well as yours and everyone else but that hasn't happened yet. So I choose to live into here and now I'm going to try harder to turn off the negative because life really is all about perspective in my opinion.
Anyway I hope anyone that reads this has a great day know that someone somewhere has it better than you and always will have someone somewhere has it worse than you and they can change that so can you so can I.
I tried to edit this ramble but kept having to start over so I'm just going to leave it alone. Please forgive me. It's late for me and I'm tired and running short on patience. 😁
Thanks,
Just Brock😎😎
Holy Shit! Billy did it again. What a strong song and his voice is like not so young boys anymore, sounds like adult man. And the song sounds like real music, not a crapsong whit samples and digisounds. Thanks Billy. You are Legend!
TRUE

He defines rockstar
That’s an okay assessment.But he hasn’t sounded like a boy since Generation x respectively.That was 1977
@@bilhamcobbly2957
i was born in 77! ..
is that the musical conscioussness of the world I chose to enter into at that time ?..
Lol ..
( Generation X 1977!.. )
IT all makes sense now!!.
..
Billy IDOL is a legend..
So is the other guy.
( The real him!..😜👁️💐 )
Truly..A work of art, me and Billy have ,so much in common,..Truly,..a bitter taste. Michael.
I’m returning right now from his gig at Wembley Arena where he did this song, “Cage” and of course the classics, Rebel Yell, etc. Steve Stevens and Billy were unbelievable!
This is, for sure, my favorite Billy Idol's song. The history behind this song makes it meaninful, a Billy's maturity melody.
Feel like digging out those Billy Idol singles I bought back in the 80s with my pocket money and dusting off the record player in the loft...
I have 48 years old, listen Billy since 35 years : He is Always the Best of the Best💪
What now?
@@ricksuddarth7200 ?🤔?
@@gregdessaint9455 just trying to figure out what you were saying here
@@ricksuddarth7200 , ok his English is not as "perfect" as yours but c'mon dude, don't play genius now, just chillax and enjoy the music. BTW, I was able to figure out what @Greg Dessaint meant.
@@raygonzalez8254 Right on!
Damn!
Talking about somebody sticking to one style and never changing. Billy has the same haircut, still wearing the leather clothing and same style of music.
I respect that!
You go Billy Idol!
Same energy, same passion since 80s , this guy is just something else
Such a wonderful surprise when you see your childhood music idols putting out brand new music!! You still got it Billy idol!! Keep the music coming!! Been a fan since the 80'
Hey dear thanks for the comment love and support keep it coming
I'd like us to talk more on a more private space
Sooo many favorite groups from 20-30+ years ago have released new music the last 2 years. And much of it has been pretty good.
@@ellajenkins2100 are you pretending to be Billy Idol?
@@cockyburritos4507 it's me Billy, I've been replying a few fans lately, to thank you all for the love, there's no Billy without you guys..
@@ellajenkins2100 It's only on pretty ladies comments though clearly bs.
Damn, all these years later he puts out the best song of his career.
To bad chris issac wrote wicked games first 😂
@@nathanc282 they are both wicked good!!!
@@nathanc282 I love you c4♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@nathanc282 Was thinking the same thing. Dorian mode with the major IV chord in a minor key, same chord progression in the verse. The chorus is a little different though. Still enjoyed hearing Wicked Games again, and his performance is good.
This man is one of a kind.
There's no one like him before, and no one after.
Auch in Deutschland hast du eine große und treue Fangemeinde. Danke für die vielen Jahre, die wir mit dir und deiner Musik verbringen durften und auf viele weitere Jahre.
Honestly, his voice sounds exactly as it did in the 80s, and not a bad song at all actually.
This is one of his best songs
It's bloody fantastic! I feel like he just earfucked me.
@@xiyx9748 Agree! Such a deep deep song
Billy idol is a badass and always will be...so many memories cruising around in fast cars listening to rebel yell and white wedding back in the day and still today.
His best stuff by far! Rebel Yell album that is and the one before it.
My camaro is gonna pump that
I fell you friend. Keep Cruzin till you can't cruz no more,
Blasting Billy in the stang🐍.
Forgot to be a Lover..best video ever!
Top Song und Top Typ von unserem Billy !
Obsessed with this song. I love seeing these icons come back and just drop tracks that blow us away.
I am impressed that Billy Idol is just who he is. I can't imagine fame is easy, but Billy Idol has remained true to himself. As interesting today as he was in the 80s.
The last man standing! The 80s torchbearer! Proudly flying that flag high! Still cool, still creative, still rocking! Only Respect! 🙏❤️
Psychedelic Furs released new music recently. As did Gary Numan, Danny Elfman, Dinosaur Jr, Robert Smith (with Chvrches), Counting Crows, Travis, Bush, The Offspring, Ministry, and others. I know, a lot of those are 90s, not 80s acts. Still, a lot of older groups putting stuff out recently. Pretty cool.
@@erad67 Johnny F*cking Marr!
@@jamessabol8397 Have to look that up, thanks.
@@erad67 ...add the new Stranglers song in that (This Song) which is Great too.
Joyous Wolf, Dirty Honey, Whitesnake, Slash putting out new music!
It's the end of an era. Some may say a world. It's a bitter taste
Billy should be proud to have this in repertoire. This is great music 40 years after he was topping hits. I was there as a 20 year old listening to him rock in the 80's and now as a 62 year old I feel this song. He still has chops. I feel old but it was fun to relive my youth for this song and the self reflection that Billy shows in it. Makes me feel young and old at the same time. Bravo Billy
из моей молодсти это был самый хороший парень и я очень рад что он ещё на плаву
A living legend absolutely delivering once again. I don't just hear this song I *feel* it.
Saw him in the 80s, saw him five times opening for Jovi - saw him last year.
4 decades & he still nails it.
Living legend
Billy is still hungry. What a man!!! Much respect.
Yeah! And thirsty 😂
I can’t say enough how great this song is.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸
Followed him since Gen X days....seen him live, blah blah
I cannot stop listening to this pober and over
If not his most accomplished and personal songs, beautifully expressed, CERTAINLY in his top 5
I love Billy Idol's new songs too. But, we the fans, NEED more and more new songs.
This song is Incredibly well made. This song gives the ability to listen to it on hours for repeat. Not many songs have that and it makes this song so Extraordinarely special. I simply fell absolutely in love with it. Good work and hope to hear many more great songs.
Eyes without a face is in my opinion hideously underrated.
WTF are you talking about? It made it number 4 on the BILLBOARD 100 and was his first top 10 hit in the States. You must be young, the song was HUGE.
Ehhhh that’s one of his most popular songs. Still an amazing song but i wouldnt say it’s hideously underrated.
@@malcolmsmith3590 I just posted the same. It literally was his first top 10 hit in the USA and made it to number 4. I was in high school at the time and you heard it everywhere.
Reminds me of “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak in parts.
This song came to mind for me too. I had to tell my mom that it was a new Billy Idol song. She thought she knew it. I told her, "It's new but it sounds familiar."
That’s what I just said!
Exactly what came to mind
Yes, a similar time signature and feel to it !
As soon as the song started i was thinking this has got a Chris Isaak feel 2 it.
this song is amazing, love it, gives me chills
The new generation needs to be taught: Class, this is Billy Idol. This is what a real rock star looks and sounds like.
A superb masterpiece. I'm totally addicted to this out-of-this-world recording. Stellar voice, excellent songwriting, a musical dimension stuck between dark and light as always. The KING OF THE POST-MODERN PUNK ROCK is back. You cannot top Billy Idol. Thank you, Billy, for delivering 45 years of astonishing music, the best.
I just celebrated my 49th birthday a few days ago and I’m not ashamed to admit I felt a bit numb and teary eyed as I worked my way through this amazing song. Instant classic! Well done!
I hear ya! 50 in November but I'm holding on to every day lol
I am 74 and had the exact same reaction. I swear Bitter Taste is his best yet! Of course I say that about every song of his!
Happy Birthday
Fuck yeah man, nothing to be ashamed of; happy birthday
Hopefully it was a good one bud.
🍻many more for both of us.
This song came on randomly on Spotify. Never heard it before, but I love it. Such a brilliant chorus! I only know Billy Idol from his 80s hits, so this was a nice surprise. Can't stop listening.
Spotify brought me here too
I hate sleeping on good music Gosh
Same :D
This song reminds me of my mother who died of Covid. Thanks Billy
I’m only 15 and it feels like I’ve been listening to Billy since the 80’s. I’ve listened to most of his past songs (Eyes Without a Face, my personal favorite) and he even to this day produces top notch music. I’m glad I was born just in time to experience new Billy songs and I’m glad he hasn’t stopped making music. I’m excited to hear more!
Excellent that you youngers can appreciate a talent when you hear one, no matter how old.
I'm in my 30s now and discovered Billy when I was about your age, I can absolutely relate to this. Considering everything Billy has been through, I'm grateful that not only has he continued to create fantastic music but has gotten to become a grandfather.
Great stuff, Im 52, i was about 13/14 when i first heard him, his classics on the radio when they were in the charts. Still love his stuff now, tbh i prefer his solo stuff to Generation X since i was too young to appreciate Generation X when they first came out, but his solo stuff was my era (early 80s)
👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
