I bought the Hankook MT2's for my Ram 1500 this past October (275/70R18). I have about 8,000 miles on them. I am very pleased with them to say the least. I have been in mud, snow, ice, and gravel roads. They have performed flawlessly. Highway ride wet and dry and been excellent. They have stayed balanced, and I can't see any tread wear. You can hear them, but they are not loud by any means. They don't pickup and fling rocks like some of the other MT tires I have owned. I highly recommend them. If they last as long as the Kelly TSR's they will be my new favorite tire. They do clean out easier and pull harder than the Kelly's.

They are louder than when they were new, but they are still many times quieter than other worn down MT's or hybrid's I have experience with. I rotated every 8,000 miles and never had to rebalance them. A substantial portion of my mileage was on gravel roads. They have resisted chipping very well. I would defiantly buy them again.

Hey Matt, Great review as always. I'm torn between tire types and your opinion helps. Currently run 35x12.5x17 KO2(JKU Rubicon), and wanted a tire that is a little more aggressive but able to handle snow/slush conditions (also avoid having to stop at chain control checkpoints) . During the winter I drive to the Sierras for skiing, snowmobiling etc, and need a tire that will handle the road in cold and possible snow/packed snow conditions on the road. I've looked at all reviews of tires comparable to the KO2, and now looking into newer tires with newer compounds like the Falken in this review or the Hankook, and Kumho and General Grabber X3 (not in this review). Thanks for your opinion!

When u spin them in the mud and rocks....they get cut fairly easy. The tread chips away. Cuts little pieces outta the tread blocks. But the tires dig very good. Large voids allow them to clean very good. I have them on a gmc diesel...so that may have something to do with the cuts....(from all the excess weight) not sure. Im currently running the new kuhmo mt tires and ive been impressed with it. Very smooth and quiet 75 plus mph and the traction is just there all the time. No issues running clay or deep mud and rocky terrain on the farm. Heavy rain didnt faze the tires at all and no hydroplaning detected. However treadlife is questionable for the tread blocks feel soft. Time will tell. Hoping to get 40k yet price was reasonable. Have yet to try them in the snow since ive only had the tires two months yet logged 3,000 miles. Driving style is 75 percent interstate and 25 percent gravel roads/farm roads.

I use the falken m/t best tire I have ever used, had 33s on my fire department tahoe for wildland been on every road you can imagine, fire roads, dozer roads 2 track etc... lots of snow and mud. Best tire yet we have ran. Have them on all the ranch trucks here in Wyoming, 33s and 35s I live 15 miles off any paved road and everything is dirt roads, we get tons of snow and then mud. I got around 50k on the work tahoe without a hitch. Now it is true you’ll need to air down to about 10lbs just because the sidewalls are very thick. I drive a dodge 3500 with a flat bed and 150 gallon fuel tank on the back and haul a stock trailer with these with no problems. We also have a ton of sage brush out here and we drive through it a lot to feed cattle I rarely have to put it in 4 wheel except in deep deep snow. Also with my work tahoe I have been on the fwy doing 110 mph going to a fire call and they worked fine, I was a little concerned going that fast at first but again no problems. We have ran BFG and Goodyear and both have always failed mostly on the sidewall and cupping and of course the capability of those tires sucked. We probably won’t go to another tire as long as these are made. Great video btw

I didn't watch many of your videos but for the couple I've watched you seem to have hard feelings about Falken Tires if I can say. I'm owner of a 4x4 shop myself and I sell and drive lots of A/T and M/T tires. While I wasn't a fan of Falken brand to start with, I can say now it's my best seller and I mount many sets for my own vehicules on MT01 and AT3W. The A/T3W is an awsome tire when you compare driving behaviors to his direct competition that I consider being Toyo AT3 and BFG K02. Quieter, runs smoother, LT construction are more confortable on pothole edges especially compared to BFGs K02 or KM3. MT01 have more road noise than KM3, there is definatly a low humming note that seems to dissipate at highway speed but it really gives the feeling of using a typical MT I personnally kind of like it. KM3 are very quieter but feel very hard on pothole edges and vibrate on hard turns compare to MT01. I feel MT01 throw less rocks also on gravel roads than KM3. I also prefer better how MT01 perform on packed dirt. Anyways in my opinion, the MT01 is not in its class when you compare it to lower tier tires like the ones on this video and deserves a better ranking when you compare it to top tier tires. I hear you say you wouldn't buy a set with your own money for one of your vehicule I think this is a bit hard on them, they are good tires, ride good, work well off-road, drive nice onroad, confortable, look great that is a pretty good package! lol

Here in South Texas we have gumbo mud where it is said that the difference between a two wheel drive and a four wheel drive is that the four wheel drive will get you stuck further from the ranch house. But the real problem is the Huache and mesquite thorns which are like nails and easily puncture tires. Years ago you could get four ply steel belted tires and a semi liquid gunk that would help seal up punctures. What do you have in a mudder that is puncture proof or at least puncture resistent?

I watched your previous video and want your opinion on general grabber x3 vs BFG KM3 vs Hancook Dynapro in this video. This is my hunting and exploring rig here in western Montana , so some highway within an hour drive but much farther than that will tow with a trailer. Hey Matt, just a suggestion. Could you mention tread depth, that's a major factor that I look at. Nowadays like BFG is 16/32nd's for their m/t and Toyo can be 21.5 that's a big difference when looking for an aggressive m/t tire.

I bought 5 tires of the Mastercraft courser MXTs. 31x10.5r15 for my older Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Funny enough these tires are much better performing thsn the Cooper RTX all terrains i had on prior. Those RTX tires were junk. My Jeep would slide in the rain.. make a left hand turn at spedd and my front end would slide foward. Made a u turn down a hill and it stopped turning and slid foward.
The Master craft MXTs are much better in the rain. They seem to be wearing decently. I have a bad ba joint on the front right. But after 5000 miles tread hasnt worn that much.
I have noticed the outer lugs on both front tires though do get cracking in them down the tread which is odd.
They did good in the snow we had here.. ice of course they slid everywhere but thats to be expected and i didnt use the stud holes they have in them.
Road noise was very little. But after rotation i do notice the noise level went up.
I havent done much offroading. But when i took my wagoneer up a very steep grassy/muddy hill i didnt gave to put any effort into it. I saw alot of big dirt and grass chunks flying in the air too which means they were grabbing good
Price was way better than any other mud terrain out there.. unless you include the cheapo chinese tires. Overall i would deff buy these again. They look much more aggressive then alot of mud terrains today.. alot of MT tires today look more like hybrids. I bought mine at onlinetires.com though. They didnt charge taxes and free shipping and 10% off.. and they price match anyone. Saved 160$ going through them. So i used that to buy my spare

I just replaced the BFG AT:s with Falken MT:s. Hummer H3. BFG:s had better grip on snow and ice, naturally, but the pleasant surprise was that the Falkens have much better grip on wet cold asphalt than the BFG:s ever had. So it is possible that they decided to use softer rubber, and that is why the lugs had to be put closer to each other to get even decent tire wear. The steering feel is way worse with Falkens. To the point that there is no way telling if the asphalt is just wet or wet black ice. The feel is like a video game without feedback. Close to a hovercraft...
They are not for novices in the winter, and here in Finland we have winters... But they are just as quiet ,when new, as the BFG AT:s were. And the ride is better. Same size and rating.
The balancing issue may come from the fact that they "set" more than usual when parked hot. The "set" sometimes stays if driven in cold weather just short distances slowly as the tire does not warm up to release the "set". It may then start to wear unevenly or something. In the winter it takes couple of km:s of highway to make them pliable and round again. In hot weather the mechanism of set and wear may be different but from the same origin. I would still buy Falkens, as the BFG:s are here one third (or more) more expensive. And in the deep snow they work just fine. We have that also...

From my experience, on LT type 6 ply and up tires you need to run at least 81% of max pressure to prevent overheat and belts separation. You'll see under inflation killing a lot of trailer tires. Airing down is for off road only. If you want to run the recommended tire inflation for your vehicle and it's below 80% of maximum then you are running too much tire for the GCVW for your vehicle. The extra tire weight and strength and price of a high ply will not do you any good. Love your tire reviews.

A lot of Jeep owners (myself included) run E-rated tires on their Jeeps at less than half of max pressure.

@@SteveH98264 Hi Steve. Heat kills tires. Anything above 230*F and the tire starts breaking down. Heat comes from tire flex caused by load or by under-inflation. Every rig is different and how drivers use them are different. My comments come from farm vehicles that often run at or near max load both on road and off road (feed trucks and hay haulers) that use MT tires. The main goal is a flat square footprint meaning the side wall is supporting the vehicle with minimal flexing and maintaining an even contact patch.

@@E.T.S365 Hi, yes since October but still haven't got much mileage and off-roading. What I can feel from the beginning is its low hum on road comparing to the previous KM and KM2. Too quiet that my engine sound of Toyota 5L annoys me instead. Still no plan to get it off-road sooner but I'm not a hard core off-roader to test it to the limit anyway. So far I don't see anyone else on the road driving with this tyre in my country at least in my city.
