    Great review. But I think the bracelet, with allmost no flex, it’s confort and the ratcheting adjustment is also a winner. It goes beyond what you usually get at this price point.

    I bought the 40mm Trident GMT a few days ago. It's a beautiful watch and when I think about it's 600m waterproofness I can't help myself but grin.

  • @desmondoreilly1210
    @desmondoreilly1210 Před 5 lety +4

    It's a really nice looking diver, and capable too with 600m of water resistance. Selitta and ETA are typical for watches of this price point, and for more costly watches too. Sinn and Tudor use these movements, they just tweak them. It's a lot of watch for the money, they've just got to address their logo issue imo.

    Nice review of a beautiful watch that looks like an amazing value. I would have bought the new version by now but I'm having trouble getting past the logo / brand name and where they positioned it. I'll probably just save for a Monta Oceanking instead - another great value albeit at twice the price of the Trident.

    This has many similarities to the Mido Ocean Star 80 but I would say has a better bracelet and dial. The case has similar polished areas, bezel clicks loud, big engraved back. Yes it’s not a cool microbrand, but comes on at less than $600 on the grey market. Worth taking a look at.

  • @kelseywinter-troutwine1928

    holy cow this was a great review. I am so torn between this and an Oris Aquis. I have always loved what Oris has put out yet this CW is so comparable & nearly 500 less in the same category. Anyone chime in on what to do? Looking at the Oris Aquis Green on Bracelet which at my AD is about $1400. but I can get a CW for about $500 less. Will CW be a brand to recognize in 50 yeas? Can I keep it as long as the Oris? Is the Oris now overpriced? Or should I look into a used CW or Oris?

    • @katies15
      @katies15 Před 5 lety

      Kelsey Winter-Troutwine Actually right now they are offering a $125 discount taking the price below $800, I just got one with the burgundy bezel and absolutely love it, worth every penny

    • @converge8008
      @converge8008 Před 5 lety

      I think that if you have always liked the Oris get the Oris, Oris has history and is a respected brand that will still be around for many years, Christopher ward is new and still trying to find it's identity, the aquis is a brilliant watch but is very thick the cward tapers down, keep that on mind, try both on if possible, I'd try on the aquis at an AD then if it doesn't feel right get the cward

    • @Lee_K_5555
      @Lee_K_5555 Před 5 lety +1

      I've owned two Aquises and two C60 Tridents. The Oris is a very nice watch but value for your money has to be in favor of the Christoper Ward. The upgrades in the third-generation Trident make the watch even more appealing, at about 60% of the street price of an Aquis. Will Christopher Ward be around fifty years from now? Who knows? The same question could be asked of Oris -- no one knows. Oris certainly has more heritage, if that means anything to you. With the discount counts that Christopher Ward publishes several times a year, a new Trident would even less expensive and you would be wise to use it for a purchase.
      The green Aquis is indeed an attractive watch and I've seriously considered getting one several times in the past. The only thing holding me back is the sobering realization that I just don't wear a green watch all that often -- maybe once or twice a month at best. A blue or black dial variant would be more versatile. Finally, those proprietary lugs on the Aquis make strap changing almost impossible (particularly with that infuriating tri-wing screw bar head in the latest generation of Aquis), so the standard lug arrangement of the C60 Trident allows quick and easy changing of straps as your mood allows. That is a very big positive in my opinion of the two watches. The black Aquis that I own right now stays on its bracelet year-round and I do regret that as I like to switch between metal and leather and nylon and canvas as the seasons change.

      CW has probably the best return policy ever. They'll refund the cost AND shipping as long as you return it in brand new condition (I think it was within 30 days?). It can't hurt to buy it, try it on your wrist, and see how you like it initially.

    Nice review, but I don't understand why people complain so much about pin and collar bracelets. Once you know what you're doing and have the right tools (available from Amazon for less than a tenner), it's pretty quick and easy to do and you'll probably only ever have to do it once especially with the ratchet clasp. Screws links would add to the production cost and put the price up.

    Generation 1 - $300
    Generation 2 - $600 - $800
    Generation 3 - $1200 - $1800
    All generations have the same crappy movements. As the generations progressed the logo has gotten worse. First it was a big C with a small w inside at the 12'oclock position. Then it was Chr.Ward at the 12'oclock position. Now it's Christopher Ward all spelled out at the 9'oclock position. Terrible off balance design. This company has failed 3 times to create a brand image that resonates with it's consumers. This company's business model is 100% dependent on people visiting their website and buying straight from them. They have ZERO retail presence. This company will die. Nobody knows about it, nobody cares about it, and nobody likes the Daniel Wellington direction they took their designs to in the 3rd generation. We don't want or need another crappy fashion brand. We want quality, with simplistic straight forward balanced design from a company who LISTENS to its consumers. Christopher Ward has failed. They will eventually fade into the sunset like so many before them. RIP. If you want a real watch save up for an Omega, Sinn, Rolex, Oris, or something like that. If you just want Swiss made with decent movement buy a Hamilton. At least their designs are balanced and not 15 letters long in the 9'oclock position.

      @FatSamEIE Před 5 lety +3

      With all respect, I dont think it's fair to say "these watches keep terrible time" because you have one that is -8spd. Most reviews and people I know with CWs have good time keeping and -8 is not good but not "terrible" either. A watch can be regulated cheaply, quickly and easily by any half decent watch repairer/servicer. Also maybe try it in different positions at night- my speedy pro gains 3 secs but loses 3 if I leave it face down so it evens out for me. 👍

      Have you ever seen a CW recently in the metal? The Gen 2's and these Gen 3's have flawless finishing - definitely on par with Omega quality... and I'm no stranger to watches. For under $1000 CW certainly has the best finishing, quality of materials, and tolerances. You'd struggle to find flaws in the Gen 2's. Do I like the design? No, but I definitely have respect for the quality of these time pieces. Nothing even comes close under $1000 (please prove me wrong, I'd love to find a company that rivals CW in quality).
