- Steven Spielberg’s much-delayed production Jaws was the first studio-planned national wide release, with a TV saturation ad campaign, licensing, and merchandising. It was also the first summer blockbuster, setting a precedent for all other summer blockbusters to follow.

"May be too intense for younger children"
*suddenly Ben Gardner's head appears*
Back them when they said too intense for young children they frigging meant it
It's always cool to watch these TV Spots.
To queue around the block, get ushered into a ram packed cinema, then sit with "surround sound" public reactions to brutal attacks, the odd head popping out of a wrecked hull and the humour !
JAWS Unforgettable cinema
The ones that focus on Alex have a real UK Public Information Film feel.
No wonder the movie became a hit; those ads attracted everyone everywhere.
Love how saturated the colors are in these old commercials.
And the narrator’s voice. You don’t hear narration like that in trailers and tv spots anymore.
Love the sound most of all
This superb film came out when I was 7. I’m now 54 and I still struggle to watch some scenes. PG…really…🤷♂️🦈😂
I only saw the full uncut temple of doom in the last few years, British tv was always editing out the bad parts when I was younger her, I’m 41 now, lol and my god that movie is worse than this!! 😂
@@robbillington1982I remember going to see Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 when I was 5! I saw Jaws on Betamax that same year!! I love both films dearly, with Jaws being my favourite film of all time! However, it does explain why I had endless nightmares throughout the 80's!! Lol!! My son is turning 9 and I won't let him see either until he's about 11 or so!! We were on holiday in Donegal and he preferred to play on the sand, he wouldn't go near the water and the mother of a family nearby asked "Is he afraid of the water?" My response was "Absolutely, but just wait until I show him Jaws when he's older!" The mother burst into laughter!!😅😅😅
I was even shocked as a 12 year old just seeing the Chrissie short on our local rural tv back in 75.
How old are you now

Best film of the 1970s
..
Apart from ALIEN and Star wars.
@@djresource717and The Godfather.
Better than godfather, but neck and neck with Star Wars. The ending of a new hope with the trench run is as good as the shark dying.
Star Wars is the best
People who were terrified of this & thought it was factual after seeing it went out & started hunting Great White's, i can't exactly recall if Spielberg himself made the documentary but he took part in one exclaiming that sharks don't necessarily go out of their way to attack & attack/jump on boats.
Back when PG meant something different.
Is it just me or might this film be too intense for younger children. 😂
You might be right.

Thank you for posting this. Such great memories. We saw it in So Cal and went to the beach the same day lol
I remember seeing the first TV spot in this compilation back when i was 9 or 10, obviously not back in 1975, but on YT for me, thanks for this @The Daily Jaws 🦈
Jaws is better than open water.
Spielberg regrets the way he portrayed sharks as mindless eating machines because they’re anything but that
Peter Benchley also said that he could never write Jaws in modern time as he could never demonize such an animal then that he did know more about them
Wasnt there one from jaws 2 where the shark fin comes straight at the camera?
You might be thinking of the Jaws 3D trailer? :)
@@JohnnyBlade78 haha thanks just found it
Looks great
how on earth was it a PG?!
PG13 didnt exist yet
@@MartyMcFly88 yes I know , it was a PG or A , amazingly
@@ksay7649 PG13 didn’t come along until Temple of Doom
@@MartyMcFly88gremlins also was the reason for pg13
3:47 used to scare the shit outta me, but not anymore. Cause i have a friend who was born the same year as these, and her name’s Monica Rial.
Good movie
Really stupid of ''UNIVERSAL'' to not put these TV trailers on the d.v.d and Blu=ray releases.
❤️
LOVE your channel…however it should probably be called “The Sometimes Daily But Mostly Monthly Jaws”
LOL. You obviously don’t follow us on social media or our website. We post content there every day.
@@TheDailyJaws Ahh Well then I stand corrected
