- Alabama Accent VS East Tennessee Accent True Southern Accent.
I meet Debbie at the pool in Destin, Florida. She said a sentence and I asked her “Where are you from” she said East Tennessee. So I asked her to do an accent challenge video with me. My husband said he talks like the Mom from Sling Blade the movie. See what y’all thank. Comment below if you think so.

Only in Tennessee do we tell what part of the state we are from. Lmao. I always say “I’m from East TN.” There is a lot of pride of living near the Smokey mountains.
Yes there is. I would love to live in East Tennessee.
Not that it makes a difference accent-wise, but everyone from Northeast Ohio says they are from Noetheast Ohio. NE Ohio is different than the rest of the state
I live in East Tennessee, near the VA & NC state lines and we refer to our area as Upper East TN also known as the Appalachian Highlands.
@@TrueSouthernAccent We’re so bad, they put in the corner.
Ha, so true!
Born and raised in Knoxville Go big Orange 🍊
GBO! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
both such beautiful accents, i could listen to them all day
Thank You from the both of us. Thanks for watching our video.
Keep it coming guys! We are loving this from the U.K. Best American accents ever!
Thank you for watching our video. We love UK fans. I told East Tennessee what you commented. I have 7 other video of Alabama accent VS other states. I hope you will enjoy them.
I’m in the U.K. too. Southern accents are the best ever!
You go Miss East Tennessee! I am also from there...Johnson City and Knoxville and always been teased about my accent..
I LOVE southern accents - from England! 🏴
@@kellyoleary4156 you’re so kind. Thanks.
@@kellyoleary4156 You know why? Cuz a lot of us that came over back in the day moved up to the Hills/Mountains, anywhere remote and that's why we kept the queen's english accent. There is a great documentary on CZcams called Appalachian English.
@@jeremycook4670 thank you! I’m going to watch that.
Being middle aged and from the southern half of West Virginia, I can relate so much to this Appalachian accent. It's so sad to see the younger generations losing this accent.
I was born in 94, I have deep roots on my mother's side, in Rogersville TN, my aunt followed 81 and has lived in Virginia all my life, so all my cousins live in the Shenandoah Valley lol I try to keep the accent alive in chattanooga but it usually only comes out with a little liquid courage
@ 0:15 Shout out to Knoxville TN, grew up here 💯East TN is different than the rest of Tennessee, very clear understandable southern accent with small twang and unique words
SO FUNNY😂😂I’m in tears hahaha this video made my day & sweet home Alabama is National anthem lol❤️ - from Chattanooga TN !
We are so glad we made you laugh. Thanks for watching our videos.
Both accents are lovely!!!
Awesome channel guys
Very fun
Married to a West Virginian, I love this study of all that surrounds pinto bean cuisine. Seriously, love this!
Thanks You. Thanks got watching my video.
I'm in middle Tennessee and i needed this video to show southern accents between AL and TN
Hahahaha! I lost it when she said "hey Karl, do you want some biscuits and mustard." She sounds just like her.
We thought so too. I love the way she talks.
i love these accents sooo much!❤❤❤ love from the uk
I'm from Middle Tennessee my dad is from East Tennessee that lady's impression of the mom on Sling Blade was great her East Tennessee access on point too sounds just like some of my family
Ms Tennessee seemed like a good time who’d been having a good time that day.
Lol love this
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
Love this. Pinto beans, corn relish and a big slice of onion. My husband (NC near Tenn) loves cornbread and I make hoe cakes (Eastern Kentucky).
I am so glad you loved this video. Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
AYE shout out to my home town Knoxville right there nice
Thanks for commenting and watching my video. Roll Tide.
Ok so this is coming from a south Alabamian whose dad is from East Tennessee. . . About an hour away from Knoxville actually. Both of these accents I hear all the time!!! However, my Tennesseean grandmother is Granny. My dad had Maw and Paw, and Granny and Granddaddy. My Alabamian grandparents are Grandmama and Granddaddy. Both of these accents are in my family and I love them both! 🤠 I can understand them both too! However, my mom can’t understand the Tennessee accent half the time. Like for a “tire” on your car, they do say “tar” - and my aunt has a dog named Pebbles and the way she said it, my mom thought she said Payables, though I understood her just fine. And pinto beans, yeah. . . My dad grew up on pinto beans and cornbread for supper and biscuits and gravy for breakfast! And they do say youns instead of y’all. 😊 my friends in south Alabama think it’s weird, but it’s how my family talks! And I really don’t mind 😂
That was great to read. Thanks for that comment and thanks for watching my video.
Thank you! And thanks for the video! 🤠
I just got my mission call to knoxville Tennessee! I'm so super excited
That is great. We will probably here people talk like she does. Thanks for watching my video.
Get ready for some good ole southern hospitality. Most people don’t talk with accents as strong as hers (thanks to social media and all that, current generations are starting to lose native accents here), BUT there are still plenty of nice strong southern drawl speakin folk around here.
Chattanooga is the convergence of these dialects.
Love the East Tennessee accent.
3:20 Bull crap we have a big ole bowl of pinto beans cornbread, meat from the beans. Ketchup and a glass of milk, maybe some onions or we vegetables was in the crock pot. Lol
That’s Right. Where are you from?
Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
@@TrueSouthernAccent East TN. Some people put onions in with the beans and meat usually pork of some kind bacon or whatever you have in the crock pot. I like a sweet onion fresh cut into squares sprinkled ontop of my beans/meat concoction and put ketchup on top to taste you can use mayonnaise, ranch whatever you want.
Alabama is Ying and Tennessee is Yang.
Laughing out loud. Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
southern Appalachian ❤😂
Question, what accent in movie " No country for old men"
Texas
Mizzouri
Are you talking the the southern talking wife? I love to hear her talk. I hope it is real and not acting like she talks southern.
You ain’t going to believe this. I had a dream today that she was on one of my accent challenges. I told my husband you know that movie “white men no country”. LOL I was close.
East Tennessee is pretty close to here in SouthWestern Ohio. Everyone here has grandparents who moved here from eastern Kentucky. We say pop and not coke though. Wonder if they say pop in eastern Kentucky
I love accent videos
And nobody never can guess my accent
Everytime some body asks where I’m from
….. lived in Hawaii for a year
…….lived in norcal for a year
……. Lived in NC for a year
…..lived in SoCal for a year
…….(norcal and SoCal different accent
…….. lived Texas for a year
Y’all get it,, I got a weird accent that’s all mixed up . The way I talk and the draw I get um
Is all kind mash up , then through in some hoali with East Tennessee, and ain’t nobody know where I’m from
The only accent I never got was from Chicago kind.
Y'all should make one about Southern superstitions, washing clothes on new years, walking under a ladder, when to eat black-eyed peas, sweeping around peoples feet and getting married, walking over another person etc.
Thanks for the idea.
Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
My grandmother still refers to a couch as a ‘set-t’ (pronounced set-tee.) I’ve always wanted to know if this is a southern term.
Settee is a term for a couch in parts of Ireland and Scotland. A LOT of Appalachia English comes from those two places.
@@linyve_yaytse I never knew this, thanks for informing me! Wow!
I have never hear a couch called that.
as a North East Tennessean she has a typical accent, sometimes I call a coke a dope and grab some nabbs to eat with or get a dr. Enuff
I fry my okra in flour 😛
Gah damn y’all bad af
I will take that as a compliment. LOL. Thanks for commenting and watching my video.
How many y’all read the comments in your own acccent👍👍
I do. I check the comments often.
I think she sounds more Arkansas.
I live in Northern East Tennessee and we say Pop for Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite ect. Love your video!
Ace Tennessee
LOL it does sound like that.
I'm from there..I do it too lol
@@TrueSouthernAccent Knoxville
I want you to confirm to me that you DID keep her number!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you talking about East Tennessee phone number? If so yes I do. We do talk sometime.
@@TrueSouthernAccent Yay !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yay!!!! Have her on once again!!!!!!!!
She said *garden* like *gOrden* right? My English not so perfect but, it seems like this lady said gOrden
LOL I think you are talking about East Tennessee. Yes that is the southern drawl. That we have we say things different than it should be. You say it right. We say it wrong but that is the way we talk.
@@TrueSouthernAccent ah i see, drawl😌 in any case, i like how it sounds👍🏻
@@TrueSouthernAccent
Ten i see 😂 Tennessee ✅
lol yTes that is the wat we say it.
It will not let me fix my mistakes in that last comment.
