  • Alabama Accent VS East Tennessee Accent True Southern Accent.
I meet Debbie at the pool in Destin, Florida. She said a sentence and I asked her “Where are you from” she said East Tennessee. So I asked her to do an accent challenge video with me. My husband said he talks like the Mom from Sling Blade the movie. See what y’all thank. Comment below if you think so.

Ok so this is coming from a south Alabamian whose dad is from East Tennessee. . . About an hour away from Knoxville actually. Both of these accents I hear all the time!!! However, my Tennesseean grandmother is Granny. My dad had Maw and Paw, and Granny and Granddaddy. My Alabamian grandparents are Grandmama and Granddaddy. Both of these accents are in my family and I love them both! 🤠 I can understand them both too! However, my mom can’t understand the Tennessee accent half the time. Like for a “tire” on your car, they do say “tar” - and my aunt has a dog named Pebbles and the way she said it, my mom thought she said Payables, though I understood her just fine. And pinto beans, yeah. . . My dad grew up on pinto beans and cornbread for supper and biscuits and gravy for breakfast! And they do say youns instead of y’all. 😊 my friends in south Alabama think it’s weird, but it’s how my family talks! And I really don’t mind 😂
