- We're going back into the Goodyear days of the balloons, if not 1 of the most requested characters to come back in the parade, according to The Big Parade History Project on Facebook, Underdog for his appearance as a giant balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Fun Fact: The actual Underdog show had an episode that promoted the character's first appearance in the 1965 Macy Parade. It was "Simon Says: No Thanksgiving", and revolved around Underdog's common foe, Simon Bar Siniester, travelling through time in order to stop Thanksgiving from being created. Why? Just to be able to cross a street without the Thanksgiving parade blocking his way and activate a doomsday device that was across that street.

The Underdog balloon was very popular for almost 20 years because after 1967, the Underdog cartoons went into syndication, along with other material produced by Jay Ward such as Rocky and Bullwinkle, for local TV channels to air on weekday afternoons.

Btw, underdog's last appearance was in the 1985 Macy's elgeston Christmas parade, and his left arm got ripped, so he had to fly low.
Also, Stewie was never in the Macy's parade, yet strangely used for a Macy's parade themed commercial.

Funny story, back when I did marching band, we did the Philadelphia parade one year, and I believe we were behind a underdog balloon. But it was one of those mass produced ones that local city parades do. I’m not sure if we really were behind him, but I remember seeing him being deflated while we were heading back to the buses.

Or just a flash animation. Like how shoe shine persona be more on the spotlight, Chumlee and Tennessee and Yukon would be the side and supporting characters. And Mcbraggard still have his mini cartoon (for like 90-180 seconds) before and after the commercial. break
