Just spent 45 minutes removing my egr valve golf plus 1.9tdi 2 cans of egr cleaner spray from ebay a toothbrush it now looks like new, and then 20 mins to refit. Such an easy job. Allan keys is all you need.
My turbo is whistling audibly and the entire rev range seems far more responsive. I reckon it's the 1st time it's ever been done 130k miles. Just need to double check I've got the stereo code before I disconnect the battery to delete the engine light. The only pain is the 3rd bolt down the back but remove the cam belt cover and its actually not so bad. Watching the spray literally melt the carbon in seconds was mind blowing. The people who claim to do it without removing the egr valve are just kicking the can down the road for another 6 months. Give yourself an hour and you'll be glad you did it properly, it's easy.

No way. On a polo tdi 1.2 its way too hard to take it out i nfact i dont even see it in the engine compartment. I cant even find videos showing exactly how to remove it
Can you use this product on a non diesel engine?
Have you physically checked/ viewed the Head Inlet Port, Inlet Mainifold and the EGR valve manifold after your Wynns EGR Valve cleaning kit?

I have two issues to raise: firstly, is it not possible for the chemists to produce a hundred percent solvent for the gunk and tars to create a perfect cleaner? I assume it shouldn't be that hard to them. Secondly, with such advanes in car industry, why are still using such a dirt prone valves?

As a demo of the effectiveness of this spray, the spray was a failure. The visual before and after revealed no more than 20-25% cleaner. Better than a complete zero...
Clearly, cleaning the valve should be done off the car. Another vid I've seen recommends letting the valve soak overnight in cleaner. That did a job alright.

You should have cleaned it while it was out the car.. those sprays they sell don't do much , for the money you spent on the can ! It's a waist of money !!! But thanks for showing us the results..
I put 2 tins of wynn's egr cleaner through my 330d because the swirl flaps were stuck. 30000 miles later and they're still working so some cleaners obviously do work

This does not work, remove valve & clean manually or fit new one, less than 70 euro
