My old Golf was the same. Floor always wet through and had no idea of the cause. Makes sense now.

Got an 07 mk5 golf atm. Water gets into the boot thru vents behind the rear bumper. Luckily mines not as rusty as that. Yet.
Pretty easy fix as you’ll see on the next video. They really need to change the design of these! It was pouring into the boot of this golf.
Yeah, nice big puddle in the wheel well. I've tried silicone and flashing tape, still leaks just not as much. Couldn't find the replacement vents anywhere. Just settled for a plastic sheet under the boot floor so it doesn't soak the interior as much. Scrap/part ex next year.

Yeah you’ll probably lose money on this but gain in plenty of other ways. So it could be money well spent
