A lot of people are gonna complain about the idea of a polymer frame rifle, but as a mechanical engineer and gun enthusiast, I'm excited to see this kind of stuff. Only time will tell on long term durability, but polymer frame pistols have been around for 50 years, and the M&P line are some of the best.
Well it feels really cheap in the hand and aluminum Colt SP1s are still running 60+ years later so why not buy an aluminum AR-9 pattern rifle at the same price? I doubt many of these will be around in 2080.

For $700 it's a plastic ar9. The material choice sucks for the price when compared to other more durable ar9s
What isn't durable about polymer when law enforcement and military personnel use it for duty and we're just using it to plink and possibly for self defense?
I told myself that I didn't really need this, as I already own several Pistol Caliber Carbines. But the more I look at it, the more intriguing I become. I might need one, or else I need to stop looking.

@@DaCoverGuy Yeah wait until you pick it up. It's made out of the cheap feeling plastic as the M&P15-22. I picked one up out of the box and after 5 seconds I was done with it. The price is insane considering everything is plastic including the charge handle and you can buy an aluminum AR-9 rifle for the same money. It's subjective, but the pistol grip is terrible and overly aggressive for a 9mm. If you have a M&P9 then just buy the S&W FPC for less money and get a gun that folds. Everyone else that doesn't care about using M&P9 mags, this does not seems like a good purchase. From everything I can see, this is a gun that really doesn't need to exist.

I bought one of these on black friday as a nice little range toy, something i could plink with, and run drills for cheap. I have to say i am very impressed by it! Its fun to shoot, its light weight, reliable, and at 50yrds using 115 gr winchester white box the groupings are fantastic even with just a set of cheap irons. I would rcomend this to anyone that wants something fun and cheap to shoot, or a nice light weigh home defence weapon with the ability to kit out. (sling, flash light, etch) I keep this one at the ready for my lady incase something happens and im away.
I'm interested in this new product. Love my M&P's.
Enuf of the speculation. I bought new July,/23, added Vortex red dot Scope. The poly criticism is over-blown. Have taken it out real world 10+ times both trekking & via ATV in rough off terrain. Has proven very durable & reliable. Easy to carry & unfold for use. Zero jams or misfeeds in 250+ rounds. A litle pricey but you do get a very reliable, Ightweight accurate S&W semi,
So funny, my wife was just talking to me about getting her her own PCC. We were looking at a lot of different ones, but this one looks to hit all the points she wants. Sold. Getting her one for Christmas. Thanks for the review.

Nice looking weapon with some great features. The Glock mag and last round bolt open are a HUGE plus to me. I already have an AR-9 and holding off on this one in hopes of a 10mm model at a later date

That's not an extractor, it's an ejector. The extractor is on the bolt.

I noticed the magazine release on the glock magwell seems to be metal, will this not chew up the polymer glock mags? Thanks

I was just looking at the FPC or a PSA AR9 for my kids to shoot but this seems like it’ll fit the bill quite well.
Thank godness I held off on getting the FPC. I was not sold on the folding gimmick or the lack of adjustable stock. RESPONSE FOR THE WIN!!!

any information about the bolt? is it proprietary or will any other AR9 bolt fit the Response?
Too bad you can't show the Commiefornia version . . . it has a funky grip, not the usual AR style plus and adjustable stock which is NOT adjustable, there is a split pin inside the plunger spring. You get two 23 round magazines which are modified to accept only 10 rounds a la Commiefornia style.

I would take the Colt M4 Carbine 5.56 over this carbine any day of the week. Regardless of having to have a separate Pistol caliber. Idk but this new smith seems to have too many removable parts that could fail in a life death situation. The M4 Colt all the way.

Couldnt you just get a cheap carbine and change the barrel, bolt and mag size?
Whats the weight of the buffer? I wonder if it has a regular buffer spring also or extra power spring.
I'm not sure of the exact specs on it but it does feel a little heavier.

Cool concept, but not sure if it's better than the FPC that came out a year ago... Which is foldable and @ $220 less.

Could have had an extended charging handle by default... that's a miss. If they sell the AR grip separately, though, that might be my preferred AR grip going forward.
Does it have any options for a shorter barrel?
Not at the moment, but that might be a possibility in the near future!
Will they be making other colors like FDE?
I'm not sure but we will be checking on that!
they gonna need a metal version just like the metal m&p version. im not sure about a polymer rifle

No it uses a buffer and buffer spring like an AR.
Still could use a law folder or sylvan arms folder.
The folding stocks on the market that are AR compatible should work.

So far the only thing I see is that the mag release is not ambidextrous. You would thing that Gun manufacturers would automatically set up all weapons to be ambidextrous.
Does it take XD9 mags?
