- Russian forces have made some significant tactical gains in locations along the eastern front in Ukraine, says former US Army vice chief of staff General Jack Keane.
“Not only in the southeast and the Donbas region but most recently and somewhat alarmingly in the vicinity of Kharkiv,” Mr Keane told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
The moves highlighted Ukraine’s need for more ammunition and weapons from its allies.
“We don’t think at the Institute for the Study of War that Russia has the capacity at least right now to seize Kharkiv and collapse the Ukrainian defences in that area,” Mr Kean said.
“What we’re hoping for certainly is that the ammunitions to help Ukraine defend on the ground as well in the air will get there soonest.”

Yeah I just got back from Ukraine a couple months ago....... I'm a us citizen....... I was with the Foreign Legion and with the international legion....... my squad and everything else will remain classified....... my nickname or call sign was ghost....... for obvious reasons because Americans aren't supposed to be there...... so I was a ghost as far as everybody is concerned........ now I don't there is a definite reason why the Russians are pushing and it's because the US cut off funding for 6 months........... now that the 69 billion dollar age package I call it a Ponzi scheme package or a pyramid scheme I don't know about schemes so I don't know what to call them I just know that the money is just it's doing a big circle it's going from Congress to Ukraine back to all the rich people the donors in washington......... they need all of the equipment we don't use which we're doing them and they just they need the money we started it we have to finish it we can't leave them hanging..... the ukrainians are some of the best people I've ever met they're way nicer and way better people than most people in the US hands down and they're a lot braver they have way more courage....... and they're funnier I mean they're just better people...... So what he’s saying is they want people to get within four hundred kilometres of Russian targets in their airspace and use some sort of self aiming self guided missile to take out Russian ground targets with outdated air attack capability meaning as soon as their tagged to be shot down their defence system has launched an air attack using the same type of weapon but designed to hit aircraft most likely if it’s even destroyed it can still launch. Why does everything military have to slightly suck against Russia. It’s the concentration camp thing and because it has Australian made parts in it so we get the shit airplanes. No wonder recruitment is down.
