Hi Jennifer, thanks again for a very concise and informed customs briefing! My buddy is visiting this month. I shared you briefing on all the necessary "things you need to know or do" when traveling to the Philippines. He's bringing me a bottle of men's colognem, otc drugs, and snacks... We were wondering about customs. You address all my questions. You didn't mention "food porn". I was hoping he bring me pics BBQ brisket, sausages, sweet potato pie, potato salad, enchiladas and crispy tacos! I guess those would get confiscated huh? Thanks again!

The problem with making a declaration via etravel, is that you are providing sensitive information very early. Early enough for bad elements to plan for your arrival at the airport or on your way home. Yes, on your way home! Declaring that you are carrying over $10,000 is enough for mischievous individuals to intercept you once you leave the airport. Be careful because of airport history everywhere not only the Philippines experience such crimes. It happens at banks too in the Philippines as experienced by someone. Do a manual declaration especially when you have things of substantial value to declare. Don't give scrupulous individuals a chance to intercept you.

First up: Kudos to Jenni for trying her hand at information about customs regulations, that has to be the most inconsistent and fast changing part of airtravel. I tried a few times to get a comprehensive list of items, but usually it doesn't exist for the public. So coming from germany, i usually stick to the customs information the german embassy in Manila publishes in collab with PH customs. The two items that confuse me the most in this internet age and that have been on the list for a decade now and never changed: sexually explicit material and night vision goggles? What am i gonna do in the PH? Sit in my dark hotel room at night and read pron magazines in the dark with my night vision goggles? lol Never thought to bring either items on my travels haha

Thanks for the good information Jennifer. I have been to the Philippines several times, and while there have experienced power failures. (one pretty nasty typhoon which knocked the power out for days) Is there any prohibited electronics such as frequency and voltage converters that can be hooked up to a battery for back up power.? Batteries being pretty heavy I would purchase that locally but I'm not sure of electronic inverters availability locally. I would be bringing a small inverter that weighs not more than 10 lbs and a related battery charger weighing several pounds? Anything electronic I would be bringing in would not be taken back to the U.S., as I'm renting a condo and would leave the electronics there permanently. Thanks for any info you can supply.

I have this type of delay at t1when departing but now getting into the country .Government has said it is improving I don't see that down on ground . I bring medication but the doctors letter is accompanied with it.

These obviously are not LIVE foods and dont have bugs on them. They are in a sealed packet and never opened. Based on a cursory review it seems this should be OK. But I wanted to check with you to see if you have heard anything about this or not.
Thank you so much for your kindness and hard work in providing all this information to us. Are you married to a foreigner yourself? You seem to know all the ins and outs for expats so it makes me think you have a foreigner husband.

Hi Jennifer you mentioned earlier that on a flight you only need to do one of the forms per family but when it comes to bringing in $10,000 or less, can each person bring for example $9,500 and still only fill out one form for a 2-person family or is it best for each person to go ahead and fill out their own individual form? Thank you

    • @prepperjonpnw6482
      @prepperjonpnw6482 Před rokem +3

My personal experience is that each person should fill out their own form, always.
I have been to more than 100 countries in the last 30 years. Sometimes alone sometimes with family and/or friends and have seen just about everything that can happen in customs lol 😂.
One advantage of using separate forms is quantities of items with limits. You would think if you are arriving with your spouse the customs officer would simply double the limit of those items.
It depends on the customs officer you are dealing with at the time. This is especially true in countries outside of the west (Asia, Africa & S.A.).
Another advantage is being able to get into separate lines when making your way through customs. Sometimes it is much faster that way.
Depending on who you are traveling with, you might not want to have you and your luggage combined with theirs.
If a customs officer decides to do a thorough search of your luggage and/or the luggage of the person you are traveling with, they will search both.
Also, if they find ANYTHING they don’t like, you are both in trouble.
So I highly recommend that you fill out separate forms and remember to them you are a foreigner wanting to enter THEIR country.
Most customs officers are very suspicious people especially if they have been doing it for awhile.
      I hope this helps 😊
      Cheers

Thank you very much for this informative video. I’m just wondering is it 2 bottes of wine per person or per family ? I will be traveling with my 15 years old son next week I was wondering if we could take 4 bottes as we are 2 people 😁

Hi, it's 2 bottles per person, maximum 1500 ml total (per person). In your situation, you + son can bring 4 bottles. Make sure the other 2 bottles are in his luggage. Cheers! 🍾🥂

Very helpful info as I plan to be in Cebu for 2 weeks this April. So if I have a pill travel container (clear plastic box for my daily supplement vitamins for 14 days), there's not going to be an issue with customs? I suppose if they toss them out I can go to a pharmacy and buy some.....just wondering if this will create any issue when arriving. Thank you again Jen!

We flew into NAIA last December for a vacation, and after clearing immigrations, and walking towards customs, they just waved us through as we were approaching. The three of us pushing 3 baggage carts with 6 checked and 6 hand carried bags in total. We never even slowed our walking pace, and they didn't ask or make any attempt to collect the declaration forms. They just smiled, waved and wished us a nice day. Coming back a month later, and clearing US immigrations and customs in LAX. I never saw any signage, line or anything saying US Customs. At both ends customs was pretty much non-existent.

Because I guess they know that your following the rule as your willing to declare anything you ganno bring, but if your trying to hide without declaring it for sure they will do something ,it seems like they give consideration upon your visit 🙂
