Same thing with me. I'm Jamaican and I've never eaten this before but all of a sudden because of these videos I wanna give it a try, but I'm afraid I won't like it
I made this flan for my partners birthday this past weekend and he absolutely loved it! He's trying to watch what he eats, but he tore that flan up! 😂❤ Thank you for this tasty recipe. Also gave some to my family and they loved it too.
I’ve never actually followed a flan recipe… I just add what I think it needs and comes out great… I’ve added cream of coconut and cream cheese to it before and omg that’s my fav way to have it… but you have to make sure there’s no lumps from the cream cheese
Okay I just subscribed. I’ve made flan several times before and this is hands down the best flan I have ever had. I think maybe not over mixing the custard ingredients? Idk but well done sir. 👏
I can't tell you how much nostalgia I felt looking at that. My childhood is a mixed bag but my stepmother was one of the few positives. She came from Colombia and the reason I cook today. My memory may be spotty at times but this reminds me how I saw it being made when I was nine. She didn't make it much as she found out my brother and I ate thres leches quicker.
You can also use smaller cups with brown sugar on bottom. It will look exactly the same when you flip them. This way, everyone gets their own individual flan.
This isn't leche flan, leche flan uses only egg yolks and is to be mixed gently so as to remove as much air bubbles as possible, not much of a difference rlly tho 💀.
Some other video said to not stir sugar and just pour into mold immediately once melted completely. I'm afraid of messing up the thing Mind trying this trying this out so I don't have to waste sugar?
Just want to let you know that you actually made Leche flan instead of regular flan! (Leche flan is the filipino recipe for flan which uses condensed milk instead of whipped cream) None the less. Thanks for sharing this recipe! Always enjoy seeing filipino recipes out without needing to search for em!
I'm pretty sure regular flan also uses condensed milk (at least that's how my mom & fam makes it). From what I looked up, I think the difference is that leche flan has more eggs
This is the only chef that knows how to count. Says 6 ingredient and it is. If its with other vlog they will only count the eggs and condensed milk hehe
People saying its Filipino. No it is not, the filipino one uses egg yolks and is more creammy than solid, kinda like a creme brulee. The recipe from the video is actually a Portuguese recipe (which was also passed down to Brazil) from the 16th century: "Pudim de leite". It was created in the monasteries and uses full eggs and some variations add a bit of flour. Modern recipes use condensed milk in replacement for milk+suggar.
Here's a little tip just use egg yolk to the mix. Thank me later. And also you can add little flavoring you want to it. Like little coffee,Choco, strawberry etc what ever your emagination takes you as long it is edible and will not ruin the flan.
Perhaps you are using not enough sugar/vanilla? Straining with a fine mesh strainer is good practice to make a smooth texture. Sometimes when the texture is grainy it can have a psychological effect where the taste is also altered slightly 🤷🏻♂️
Egg cooking too fast would be my guess. Same thing happens with most custards, if the egg doesn't cook slow it ends up tasting eggy. If you combine the egg and sugar while still hot, or don't use a water bath, or a metal pan instead of glass or ceramic, it can cause these issues.
If you prefer your cake without salmonella please don't tap the eggshell inside the mixing bowl after all most salmonella are on the egg shell surface.
Now I know people going to say 7 ingredients because of berry but let me say this Berry (or other extra ingredients if you want to add it) is completely optional, other ingredients mentioned on the video on the other hand are required
If you flan is that dense that you can pick it up with ease with a fork, it’s not creamy. I personally don’t like dense flan. I like it extremely light and creamy. It has to jiggle.
There is so much flan in my feed, I didn’t even search for it it just keeps popping up, I think it’s a sign from the baking gods.
Same here.
Literallyy I crave flan now lol
@@ckatkit5775 the custard gods are taking over 🗣️🗣️💯💯🔥🔥

I gotta try this, most approachable recepie iv watched for flan, ty
Hope you enjoy!
You should try the Brazilian flan, also called pudim, it's even simpler
I’m Cuban and this is the exactly way we make it. In my fridge always there is a flan . Yummy
I made this flan for my partners birthday this past weekend and he absolutely loved it! He's trying to watch what he eats, but he tore that flan up! 😂❤ Thank you for this tasty recipe. Also gave some to my family and they loved it too.

That looks delicious will make 😊 never tried flan .
Flan is literally so good 😩
Thank you best simple explanation
Love it! I’m wondering what’s the salt for?
Tip: Instead of evaporated milk use heavy cream. Smooth texture.
Great idea,looks good and yummy
Delicious 😋

🎉🎉🎉will try
Looks nice 😊
❤❤❤
There are air bubbles in that. Which means your oven got a little too hot. You always bake at around 150C.
For how long do you cook it?

@@aidantwinkletoes760545 minutes usually on cook books. This dude overcooked it
The bubbles are the best. That’s where all the sugar syrup goes.
That's very good
Nice
Thanks!
Use egg yolks only and add lemon zest. We call that leche flan in the Philippines
Yeah leche flan is so delicious
You can also use smaller cups with brown sugar on bottom. It will look exactly the same when you flip them. This way, everyone gets their own individual flan.
THAT LOOKS SO YUMMYYYYYYY
I LOVE FLAAAAAAN (especially coconut)
Wow it's really nice

Nice!
Yummy love Flan so good ❤😅
Next time try adding Philadelphia cheese, your welcome! 😊
You ever try a thicker taller bigger flan? I see those all the time in Hispanic restaurants and can’t ever to make them perfectly like they do.
I love you foods

But it's a general flan recipe used around the world tho...
Flan is iberian tho
Either way it’s a flan. Don’t get to technical about it lol 😂😂
to make the texture even smoother you can change the yolk ratio.
Just use eggyolks only for super smooth & creamy textures. I made it a few times already & so much satisfied with the result.
@@viasvias187how many do you use yolks?

"Happy birthday Rachel here's some goo"
Looks good...have you used Philadelphia cheese? Seen some people using it.
You must be white
That is a common inclusion to flan recipes, it is a nice touch and makes it a little smoother and jiggly
thanks
Try with just the egg yoke it’s even more creamy ❤
Nice leche flan
I think it’s so weird how so many people will say never stir when they make caramel and then others say constantly stir … I have always stirred lol.

No. It needs to be your favorite, the world will explode if you use anything else

I love leche flan. Leche flan is always served in Filipino parties. Serve it with ice cream and fruit salad., oh what an indulgence 🤩

Thanks,I made coffee flan the other day .Can I add coffee granules to this recipe ,using your recipe?
Use instant coffee
What to use in case we don't have evaporated milk?
You can take full fat milk and reduce it to make it ticker. It workd fine
. . .or condensed milk, but don't add sugar anymore.
Thanks
in philiphines they make that they cool that leche flan
In the Philippines it's called leche flan
In gonna make
Flantasy flan
Made this today it was delicious..it took my sugar about 10minutes to brown..I was a lil worried😂
Just come here in the philippines we have a lot of that here
Yum

😊
Here in Brazil we called pudim
In aruba we cal it kesio
I’ll eat that whole pan, thanks 😊
Dominican flan is the besttt
🤮🤮 philipino flan is much better.
@@AlibadbadPuerto rican flan is above bud
Any suggestions for dairy substitutes for this recipe?
Yeah soybean oil lol
The milk is not all that important. Any non dairy milk will do.
Try wisking slowly and gently so air bubbles dont get trapped inside the leche flan
Air bubbles is where all the sugar syrup goes.
i looks so good 😮💨
Tasted pretty good too 😁

Flan reminds me of gelatin even though there is none. Why does it have that consistency?
🍮
Finally someone who pronounces it correctly
It’s not pronounced like that
Too bad I can’t make this coz I can’t afford that FAVORITE NON-STICK PAN.
How does the caramel not get crystallised and brittle?
It does, there is a lot of leftover caramel stuck on the bottom of the pan afterwards, but still plenty on the flan as well
removing the egg whites and just using yolks will make the flan so much better
Good advice!
Real Flan is only using the yolks add the egg whites and you got a pudding not a flan..
@@kuromomutaronah the original version is like that
I wanna eat flan..I never tried it before
Could you please tell me why my flan sometimes turns out having a very strong egg flavor which is not good at all ??

Is there a way to make flan dairy free?
This would be a fun challenge! Maybe using sweetened condensed coconut milk and regular coconut milk
What can we use instead of condensed milk?😅
sugar
If you leave it just for one hour it will be smoother texture.

You can add some smooth cream cheese to help achieve this, although I personally like the texture of this recipe 👍🏽
I agree. It means there's too much egg protein or slightly overcooked
