    I think I'm getting the high-pressure version for Christmas. I like everything about the unit except that you have to hold the trigger down during the inflation. I'm guessing they did it that way, so you're less likely to burn it up.. 🤷‍♂️
    I used my buddy's Ryobi the other day. Set it and forget it. It was really nice! Does anyone really know why Makita left that feature out?
    Thank for the video! I assumed would have that feature. Makita is usually on top of their game.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I agree. I think the high pressure one is going to be really nice. I've not actually used it but it looks good. I also think they might have just left that feature off not to burn it up but once you use the Ryobi or the rigid and they shut off when they're supposed to, it really makes paying all the money for the Makita hard in my opinion. I love everything else about Makita just not this. If you get the high pressure, let me know what you think of it.

  • @sizif717
    @sizif717 Před 2 lety +7

    It is a pretty good inflator for it's size, you can just throw it anywhere in the car. Feels like Makita quality all the way. Providing you have some Makita 18v batteries - it is not so expensive either. The biggest drawback is that you have to always press the trigger (solvable with some kind of a tie). There are newer models (18v and 40v), much bigger and heavier - but have twice the power and the speed of that.

    • @tgltoday2717
      @tgltoday2717  Před 2 lety +2

      Agreed. Standard makita, gets the job done day in and day out without issues. I saw they have a newer 18v model. I may buy that one next. It looks pretty nice from the little research I did on it.

      @sizif717 Před 2 lety +2

      @@tgltoday2717 I just bought the 40V one. Have not used it a lot. It is HUGE compared to the 18V one, did not imagine it to be so big. But if you are inflating big truck tires - probably will be worth it for you. I kind of fancy more the 40v stick vacuum cleaner that I also got. Same size as the Brushless 18V model - 3 times the power!

      I use it for everything. The inflator works fine I just dont think it's a good value as the ryobi I have is a lot nicer in terms of how it works and it's basically the same speed. The ridgid is so much faster and both the ryobi and ridgid are a lot less money. I'm a makita guy so I was expecting for the $100, it would be a lot better them those two cheaper ones and it's not. I got the ryobi for $35 and the ridgid was just on sale for $50. I never saw the makita go on sale. At those prices the ridgid has the lifetime service agreement and you can guy 3 ryobi and 2 ridgids if they were to die for the price of one Makita. I was expecting since its Makita for it to be nicer then the cosumer brands. I did see that makita has a newer 18v inflator supposed to be a lot better so one day if my ryobi dies I will get the newer Makita and see what it can do.

    A few things. 1. It would be interesting to see if it improved with the 6ah Battery. I know with a drill, the bigger the more power you get so maybe the faster. Also how much longer it would take with a 3ah battery. 2. Decibels is good but when stuck you wont care as long as it works.
    I bought a jump starter kit, the little jump starter that is good for 20 jump starts. It came with a tire pump and I thought wow thats cool. It said don't pump for longer than 15 minutes, I thought "Who is going to pump for 15 minutes?" My sons bike tire needed blowing up so I thought here's a chance to try it out. pfffffffffffff. I like Makita stuff and currently have 8 batteries and about 15 of their 18V tools, but the lack of a locking on/off switch on this inflator is a deal breaker for me. I bought my son the DeWalt DCC020IB inflator for Christmas, and it is the cat's meow! It also does air mattresses and pool toys and such.

      I have multiple Makita tools as well and they're my preferred tool except this one. I'm glad someone understands what I'm talking about lol because there were a lot of Makita people that did not like this video. I've never used the DeWalt in person, but I would imagine it's pretty nice. Given DeWalt typically makes nice stuff in my opinion. I saw they have a newer version of this 18 volt inflator and I may get that at some point.

    TGL ignore the hater comments on here! Decent enough video, what do people expect? Anyways I just bought this tool myself prior to watching this video and I'm thoroughly not impressed (with this tool). This is NOT Makita quality at all. I'm probably sending mine back. I put 30 pounds of air in my wife's car tires then come back and recheck them with a gauge and they're all at 30 but one is at 25. And the Makita display hits 30 pounds and then keeps running for at least another minute. Plus the missing lock on button is just such a huge mistake. Makita stuff used to be fool-proof and of the highest quality "Made in Japan". Now, sadly, it's becoming more and more like Ryobi MADE IN CHINA/ average junk. Don't spend $100+ on this just because it uses the 18 volt batteries.

      Thanks Joseph. I'm glad you found the video helpful. I'm a big Makita guy, but I have a wide variety of tool brands because I know that not one manufacturer no matter how good they are, can make the best of everything. If this Makita was only $50, then I could see it being a good deal but not at $100plus price tag it normally sells for. I did see that they have an updated newer model from this one and the specs make it look like its a lot nicer. I've also read good things about it. I want to give that one a try but my I really like my $35 Ryobi. Thanks for watching and if you decide to get the newer 18v Makita, let me know what you think of it.

      @@tgltoday2717 I agree, Makita "overall" is a great power tool company, possibly the best (though everyone has their opinions). I own Makita and a bunch of different brands, too, without one brand loyalty. For example, Bosch makes the smoothest jigsaw on earth so I pay the premium and use the Bosch jigsaw. I was looking for a great inflator but this one isn't it. I just feel like the Makita of old (the Makita that built that amazing brand) would have never let this tool go to market like this. Like you said if it was half the price or less than MAYBE it's a keeper but why buy 2nd rate equipment? I'm definitely not hating on Makita though, but if someone working for them reads this then all the better. Peace

    Terrible review. This is a good battery inflater from Makita, a company that is specialized in construction tools. You hear say that the nozzle is bad but try using a few of these a couple years instead of burning down a good, relatively cheap and compatible tool.

      This inflator does exactly what it supposed to do. I love Makita tools and have a lot of them, but this one is just not for me. It doesn't perform as well as a few of the other ones I've tested that cost half as much. As far as the nozzle go, my experience with a craftsman inflator is that over time the seal inside must shrink or something and then cause it to leak. I seen Makita has made a new version of this inflator and looks to be twice as nice. I hope to get my hands on it one day. Thanks for watching.

      I bought this expecting to retire my Ryobi inflator and was disappointed that at the time I bought them, the ryobi costed $35 and the Makita costed $99. The inflator works fine but my point was for $99, I was expecting it to be way better then the home owner Ryobi. And yes, I've had the Ryobi a while now and it gets a good amount of use and still works great. I did see that Makita has since come out with a newer model and it looks like it's way better then this one I reviewed. Thanks for watching.
