    ABOUT US:
    JupiterÂČ was built in the Philippines by an Australian designer for Jamie. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on JupiterÂČ and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.
    Hopefully some inspiration to "Quit Job and Go Sailing".

    A pretty calm episode. The only drama being a lock master who pulled up some weeds, and tried to pass them off as flirting flowers! hahaha

    Back in 1969 I went to US Navy boot camp in great lakes Illinois. I think it was close to Chicago. in August. I spent 12 weeks in that piece of land and by September We were marching in heavy winter blue uniforms and P coats. Your friend wasn't lying when he said it's cold there in September.

    3:45 Think you'll find the Atlantic and Pacific are at sea level, the Panama canal is 85 foot higher

      @marceld6061 Pƙed 2 lety +3

      I was coming to see if someone else caught that! The canal has locks to raise and lower boats/ships over the land that separates the two oceans. They chose Panama because it was the shortest point between the two oceans.

    • @SailingLifeonJupiter
      @SailingLifeonJupiter  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Have a google Ray
it seems they are different by about 20cm
also a significant tidal change.

      @@SailingLifeonJupiter Jamie, 20 cm over 50 miles (length of Panama Canal) is nothing. Barely a slope. The purpose of the lock is still get boats up and over the land. Cheers

      @@marceld6061 If the two oceans actually were at different heights on average enough to require locks, then you could make a syphon pipe across Panama, run it through a turbine and generate electricity!!

    We were lucky enough to get a free tie-up with power every night while transiting the erie canal. I wish I could have watched this video series before we did our crossing. We made a video series as well, but yours is better 😊

I’m sure your series is awesome
. We didn’t do much research into the free walls, coz we can’t use your power anyhow! We’re 230v
.and batteries are most definitely full every day!

    I wish I had watch this 3 days ago: Lock 1 was a breeze until lock 2. I almost seriously damaged the boat because I didn't know how / where to tie the boat. This was largely my fault for inadequate research, but also the lock master's who never tried to guide me after I told me I had never done this before. He let me figure out the hard way. Very unprofesionel, and very dangerous for us and the boat.

    Atlantic and Pacific are not at different heights - they are both at sea level. The Panama Canal locks take you up to the central lake and then back down to the other ocean on the other side.

the texture of the bottom is a bit more course for the river rocks and finer grained for mud

how does one get a ride on the route you took? Any crew sign ups or pay for vessels?
