Picking Up Sticks on my Forest Trails without Lifting a Finger

- If you've got trails like me, you know what a pain it can be to keep sticks and debris off them. For years I'd walk around throwing sticks off the trails almost daily it seemed until I found out about landscape rakes. These things sure are something else and are my go-to for keeping my trails clear of debris and smooth.

Nice relaxing day in the woods. Good vid. Thanks.
Thank you!
Sandy nothing wrong with getting away from the bugs and getting your trails groomed 👍✅😮😊❤
Really Sandy!!!! Now you have cost me even more money as I now feel the need to buy one of these rakes. You’ve already cost me a Woodland Mills HM130max, wood chipper, and stump grinder. What next? When will it end? 😂😂😂. Seriously, thank you so much for all these informative videos. They are great and very helpful.
My grandkids would love that trails nice and smooth for riding out golf cart 😊
Good idea to keep it cleaned out for fire barriers ya'll have had lots of forest fires up there in the past few years we got smoke from last years fires all the way down to GA, so to Mr. Corkel7021 some of us do care a lot to protect our lands. Sandy you did good! J
Thanks J! Sure is a lot of fires around even now. I’m hoping I never experience a fire up close
sandy ,that is a great bit of equipment does the job so easily ,great contend as always
Really wish I could have kept more property like this as it's beautiful. Nice job man because it sure beats raking rocks😅
I use the hydraulic top link every time with every implement. So much more fine control with positions and hooking up as well.👍😁
That sure sounds like it would be a great addition
Hi Sandy, great video, as always 😀
I'm with you on the hydraulic top link. The adjustability with ease on all of your 3 point link equipment would be awesome. The only reason that we don't adjust it too much at the moment, is because we have to get off the seat &. away from the sludge 😅...... 😃👍
That’s exactly my reason too lol
Great job grooming trail.
That looks to be a very useful piece of gear Sandy.
Thanks Jimmy!
To much fun.I'm thinking I may need one of those rakes to clean up my paths in the woods after winter or a storm.
Looks good some of those places were tight
You just know that Sandy is getting a hydraulic top link very soon after reading all the comments!
I need one of those 😁
Congratulations on your Investment,
Thanks for coming along for the video
Sandy, yet again, another great Video, good job.
Thanks for that TJ! The support you provide over all the videos is much appreciated
That's a good tool that is on my wishlist 😁 God Bless Y'all and keep working
Thank you Gene!
I just bought a Kioti DK 4720 with a hydraulic top link, it makes a world of difference with my attachments. I’m still finding out new ways that it enhances everything I put on the back. Thanks for the video.
Great to hear it works so well. Do you hook it up to the rear remotes?
Yes, plugs right in and is a game changer especially with a box blade and land plane. Keep up the great content.
Thanks for that! I’m going to see about getting one at some point
I had a " tip and tilt " controls ( top and 1side hydraulic links, on the 3 pt. hitch ) installed on my larger tractor to put in lawns. What a dream to fine tune, without leaving the seat . Stay safe out there Sandy. Catch you on the next one.
That would be amazing!
Sandy, u did an awesome job using ur back rake on ur tractor. getting big logs with the front gravel. great job..
Thanks Billy! Hope all is well and thanks for watching
thats a slick unit ! im going to have to check one out , Ive fought with the sawdust / bark from sawmilling to for years , this thing made quick work of it by the looks of it ! great video !
Thanks Paul!
It looks like you could groom about 100 miles a day with that set up. It really makes a nice trail and it’s one of your easiest tasks. Good video. 🥸👍👀✅
Hey Joe! Sure can put some miles on east with this thing
It is always a good day when you can be productive with out feeding the bugs!!!
I’m with ya 100% on that one
Hello Sandy, our landscape rake maintains our roads also, for the last 30 yrs 😂🚜🇺🇸
Great to hear it’s going strong for ya
A hydraulic top link would be helpful for many uses. I've seen those things in action and I'm definately going to get one. Thanks!
I really enjoy watching you work that red pine forest. I go to a camp called Red Pine Camp in the Ottawa valley, so maybe it all looks so familiar. Stay safe from all those bugs!
Beautiful area over in the valley Billy!
My trails are a lot shorter than yours, but often about the same width. That rake looks to be a *lot* more efficient than back dragging with the grapple or bucket! I have to decide between widening the trails (enough for a land plane), or get a rake. Thanks for the demo. Agreed, as well, with the hydraulic toplink - have been eyeing them for sure.
It sure is handy. My trails are barely 6’ at some points but overall the landscaper rake fits nicely
You will not regret getting a hydraulic top link, we have a couple extra ones just in case we blow a seal on one of the installed ones.
Do they typically plug into the rear remotes?
@@sawingwithsandy We have a seperate third function on front and back of ours, but all you need is an extra set of hoses that can go in and out to make it work. It is awesome for mowing on slopes, and pitching the box blade from dig to spread.
I've been using the rake but turned is around and use it in reverse after clearing a bunch of ground with a skid steer & mulcher head. That way I cam push stuff out of the way & not have to drive over any of it,
Good afternoon Sandy it does a great job smoothing the trail also it does a little something extra but you can do that every once in a while to keep the fresh dirt on top and the debris of the trail but it does make a nice fire barrier having a debris free area to stop the fire from crossing over it does not make it fire proof but those clean area without debris it sure will help it's happen plus now you have to put your speed limit sign back up so you don't drive that cart of your to fast on those smooth trail ha ha ha have a great day
Haha I’m going to get myself into trouble with those carts
That's such a valuable tool I'd hate to beat it up so it wouldn't last as long either. Hard use=short life. Use it like it was designed to be ,gentile use= long life. Money really doesn't grow on trees, even if you make money with them!
Hydraulic top link would give some down pressure, dig a little more if you wanted.
Could be a great addition
Hydraulic top links are awesome. .........You'll be kicking yourself.😁
mccormick seems to have a sad life.......lets all hope he can turn it around.
Hi Bob! I think I’ll have a good look at them before long for sure
Hey, I "Dimed you off" to another channel, a guy who's down in the Kentucky/Tennessee area; told him to check out your channel. He commented back that he regularly watches your channel. I tried to get you another subscriber. He's intelligent, however, and already found you! Take care, buddy, see you this weekend!
I appreciate you passing along my name Carl! Hope you have a great weekend and rest of your week!
MM77 Approved 👍🏼 👍🏼
Always great to hear from you! Thank you for all your support on each video
any reason why you didnt windrow the needles and scrub off to the side of the trail?
nevermind....guess I should have watched 30 seconds longer before commenting...
Great video Sandy, just curious how many acres of land do you have?
In the videos I usually show around 30 acres I’d imagine
Landscrape rake
If you remove every other tine from a landscape rake they actualy work like a rake and less like a back blade.
For a hobby small wood lot, the purchase of implements/toys just keeps rolling in, no complaint just envious as You Tube must compensate you quite well.
rust already on the rake
Looks like the tines get fouled with debris, it works like a box scraper.
Big sticks will get stuck in between the tines for a period but I often find they fall out or if they don't I try reversing which sometimes bumps them out
Wonder if a camera facing aft would help prevent a sore neck from having to check the rake?!
I think so. I've got a rear mounted camera on my back window and a small monitor that usually suits right above my steering wheel but I found I wasn't using it as much as I had thought recently so I have removed it
@@sawingwithsandy Just a thought!
I do find a camera I’d a good addition though as I think it would be real helpful in this case. I may have to put the monitor back up
I want one but I'm like you. My wallet hesitates. Soon !
My wallet and I aren’t on speaking terms since the forestry grapple lol
You are not making the black flies happy. Glad you are in an enclosed cab.
They're going to be really thirsty by time I get out from the cab haha
you have a nice trail in my land with swamp ?? with up and down
Thanks Richard! I’ve got some land that’s wet but I’m fortunate most is high and dry
@@sawingwithsandy dans la terre humide mousse avec des racines d arbre la tu essayer pour voir si sa travail bien aussi
confused why you make trails more challenging than need be especially when making turns
personally would eliminate trees that are right on the bend of turns do when skidding or using forwarder so not an issue making turns with longer items
I’m short on time more often then not or sometimes I leave trees on corners on purpose for rub trees for skidding
Your voice Mike is not very good
Sorry to hear that it didn’t come across for you well
Really, that's all u have to make a video about.who gives a 💩.
Thanks for watching
