    Love that Arrma Typhon of yours. I can tell you love buggies ❤️. From tamiya to Arrma.
    And looking at the condition of your Typhon, I can tell that you have really taken care of it very well! I bet you haven't broken anything yet since you got it last year. 💪

      Hi Ian. Yeah, my no. 1 will always be the buggies 😍 The Typhon hasn’t really been into serious combat yet (no skateparks around here) so a few jumps and a lot of flips and rolls in the snow and grass. Nothing that can harm her. But would soon like to try some serious jumps with her.

    Hiya Mikael. Good idea to test the GPS devices. I've still got the old one but I really ought to get the new one with the app. I was out today with the Arrma Typhon 3s that I got second hand recently. Was really good but I did end up bending a shock shaft. Anyway I enjoyed your vid and the quirky music was a good choice. Happy Saturday my friend :-)

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  Před 3 lety +1

      Hiya Pete! Yeah, they should theoretically read exactly the same, so it was good to see they actually did :-) I think the old one is fine, but yeah, I do like the compact new one with the app. Uhh, too bad about the Typhon. Hmm, what's up with those shocks on the 3S versions? Everytime I hear about them they either leak or bend or breaks. Would love an Arrma 3S still. But just spend my Big Rock savings on Tamiya parts :-) Happy Sunday to you in a couple of hours :-)

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC Před 3 lety +1

      @@NordicRC Hi Mikael. With the Arrma 3s shocks the ones on the version 2 did leak and can be fixed with Tamiya red o rings. The ones on the version 3 are fine as they updated the o rings. As to the shock shaft bending I'd say that they are easily as strong or stronger than Tamiya shocks or other brands of this size. The difference is that these are fast heavy bashers and so crashing into a rock at the wrong angle is going to be more damaging. I did drive into a solid object at speed so I will let it off for bending. I would have thought that with your big open areas you would be fine. Definitely still recommended :-)

    What I needed a comparison across the 3 models.
    likely the same circuitry, just with some added bells and whistles on the 020 model.
    The only unit I have is the 020, but even though the 020 varant is newer it does seem to miss some of the functionality of the older 015, as that unit looks like it also was able to map your route with some fancy-free SkyRC PC software.
    when I purchased my 020 a few years back..I didn't notice any PC software available, but it would be nice if it was able to map your route in the app perhaps with speed measurements plugged in on that map.
    All in all, the "app" for the 020 was quite rudimentary & crude, and it ain't like it's a cheap product at around 50 to 55 USD to DK.
    I tested in the car versus the speedometer and the car was a few km faster, but it goes without saying that a car's speedometer likely is reading a tad high to be safe than sorry
    but the positive with the 020 is the small size and relatively low weight that makes it valid for my quads, from FPV to Mavic... my unit weighs 36.5g.. the 015 aint much heavier at 45g
    SkyRC should really implement the mapping ability from the 015 into the more expensive and newer 020.
    if they already have, please give notice, cheers.

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC  Před 2 lety

      Good points! I read it with interest. I must admit that I have never really used the software for either one of these. I only need the top speed for my use. And yeah, I have tried some GPS speed meters in my 1/1 cars too. The speedometer on the car is always a few kph higher. Better safe than sorry 🙂 Thank you so much for watching and the comment.

      @@NordicRC like is there a radio that would be able to display my speed ? I know there are gps modules that you can get the phone app for but would be nice if we could get it on the radio controller. I’ve not seen anything for this have you ?

    • @michaelwilkes0
      @michaelwilkes0 Před 9 měsíci

      @@maxtwentynine5968 i think I have seen that done on a quadcopter. Its more involved. You use a gps module connected to the flight controller that transmits the data over telemetry back to the radio, or overlay the data on screen in goggles. Not sure if its possible on a car. It would probably require that the receiver have a sensor port to plug in a gps module, which would be very fancy indeed. I think it might be easier to tape a separate tiny 2in screen to your controller and use a gps, flight controller, vtx combo from a quad to build a stand alone unit that records speed and transmits video with the speed overlay. Probably too much effort, but if someone really wanted it, it could be done.
