This training update is for my 4 month old lab Nala from Southern Oak Kennels. We have been taking our time training obedience and we are making great progress. She is right in line with where she needs to be and she is looking great. The 52 plus program from Cornerstone Gundog Academy is what we are using to train.

I didn’t know you got another dog bro love it can’t wait to see her progress.
Probably had to with the constant whining of the other one
Made the mistake of trying to rush my Toller to hunt the same year I got her too. She was smart so I thought no problem. Well I ended up blazing through stuff and realized it was causing issues so I left her at the house and now I gotta start from about scratch and hope she turns out alright lol. Maybe this year she can get a few hunts in but she’s not even 2 so I may still pace her slower we’ll see.
I got a 12 week old chocolate that is taking to training very easy and in the short amount of time I’m addicted to training him everyday. I see myself making excuses to my friends so I can work with my pup even more😂
Good to see fresh blood and training. Hunting friend has a pup the same age and is working on his 7 th dog of life. Always good to see the pup turned his eyes sky-ward 30 seconds before we even heard the overhead geese....now that's a hunter genes working. Keep the clips coming
My pup is 9 weeks old. Little wild child for sure, but he was the only pup in the litter that would grab the tennis ball and consistently hold it and carry it without any input, and 9/10 times will grab a bumper right in the middle like he should. Showing good natural ability and brings a bumper back to me with our short but fun little puppy retrieves.
Pedigree. Its so worth the extra $$ if you want a dog thats super trainable
She's a pretty pup. I'm glad to hear she is doing great for you. I'm headed out to SOK Great Lakes in 7 weeks to pick up my new pup. It's been two years without a lab and it really hasn't been that fun. lol Yes, I like the training updates, keep em coming. I joined CGA and really looking forward to the journey.

Congrats on the training. Yep.....at 4 months, keep it fun and enjoy the journey. We have been working with out chocolate lab gunner and he is 1.7 years old now. We did some HRC testing over the last 2 months, and he got the 4 passes he needed to get his "Started Title" 2 weeks ago. The last test was a tough one (for me) because Gunner is like your first lab.....HOT HOT HOT.....FIRE BREATHING DRAGON. But we got thru it. Now for the rest of this year, we will continue the retriever training, and start with some casting drills/work hopefully before Dove Season hits in September. Here in West texas, we can get an early start on the training season, but it gets SO HOT in summer, we will be dialing back when it starts pushing 100.
