      Same here, my pup is food motivated but the outside distractions are WAY more important to her for the level of energy that she has…. Nothing like the pup in this video

      Listennnn biggest facts. Inside she sits etc but the moment she’s outside …distractions everywhere

      Exactly!! It's like he gets this whole different personality the second we step foot outside our front door. Inside he's good-behaving-fun-happy-puppy. Outside he's a vicious predator, rushing, pulling, janking to find pray he can bark and growl at.

      The prong collar is probably not highlighted enough in this video. Yes the food motivation is the "carrot", but the deterrent is the prong collar acting as the "stick". You don't NEED a prong collar for this to be effective, but without the physical stimulation/pain it'll just take longer for the pup to respond. Here in Australia prong collars are illegal to import, and cant be used in 3 of 8 states so don't expect fast results without it.

    we have a mini poodle and she choked herself even with a harness. her neck is super thin. any recommendations there? i think a prong would be too hardh

      Any solution to pulling is going to involve discomfort in the short term but can lead to significant long term benefits. My advice is to take a long-term perspective in training and develop sustainable behaviors

    So I have a pug who pulls everytime. We don’t put a collar on him we use a harness instead. How do I do the training then?

    Can u please give advice at walking two dogs with split leash. I have two 8 month old English cream golden retrievers. I’m have a very hard time with walking pulling and bolting out the door and no recall at all. Struggling. I’ve had siblings before but this time I’m having a hard time.

      If these dogs are brothers and grew up together it's going to be very hard

    Thanks for the video, Ethan. I have two dogs on a split leash and we use easy walk harnesses. How would you recommend walking them if I wanted to get prong collars? Sometimes they pull on each other because they sniff in opposite directions.

      @learning2no Před 2 měsíci +1

      Train one at a time. Then when they both understand you an go back to the split leash.

    If the dog is only focusing on you. When do you allow time for them to go about their business?

    DO NOT DO THIS
    Inflicting pain (prong collars, e-collars etc.) as a form of training is unecessary. This causes stress and suffering which will hurt not only your relationship with your puppy, but also its long term health.
    Use positive reinforcement training instead, you will have the same results even though it takes a lot longer and is more unconvenient for the owner.
