No doubt about it, stocking foot waders are more comfortable than bootfoots, but they're more of a pain to put on. They're better in sucking mud (won't pull the boot off your foot), and will do fine in early season.
Down here in Florida it’s usually 85-90 degrees when early wood duck and teal opens. I just wear wader hip boots and dri-fit shirt. If it’s really hot, just wear shorts and wading boots like you got there. Good luck buddy.
I have these exact waders, make sure to clean your boots OUT!!!! They started leaking on my 5th outing.
Should be good for early season. I know several people that wade fish here in SW Louisiana that use this type of wader for saltwater fishing on and around oyster reefs. The durability will be the one variable that you can't control. Let us know how it works out after the early season.
down here in texas breathable are a must.. believe it or not it still gets really cold because of the moisture in the air and im very warm in mine when i layer up
Yeah been doing same thing with my old cabela fishing stocking foot waders for several years. They should make a late season stocking foot .
Walking is easy and comfortable for sure . Down side is mud ,you get in muddy areas you can loose a boot pretty easy. Just keep that in mind other than that fishing waders are great for early season breathe ability.
All I wear. Comfortable and easy in the mud. Go to my 5MM cabelas when it gets cold. I am in North Texas though.
I also do not think it's a dumb idea. As tou mentioned they can be versatile for Teal and dove hunting, fishing in shallow pit ponds along I-80 and fly fishing in Colorado. Heck you could wear them for a flooded basement too!
Josh we like you and what you do. Don't wear the stocking foot waders in water over your head. Had two buddies out hunting and only one came back the boots stop you from being able to ditch them if you happen to go down or overboad in deep water
