This guy does quality videos. For example, when he is showing where cables plug into various locations on the motherboard, he cuts to a close-up with the motherboard out of the case. Just a little example of the nice things he does. Interesting video. I wish he had selected the 5700G instead of the 5600G though.

I've built tons of PCs, and I still watch these build videos. So relaxing and well done.

This guide was so helpful! I really appreciated you taking the time to plug in the moba separately from the case to show exactly where those tiny cords went. Thank you so much for making this. I got the processor so that I could wait a few months and get it upgraded with a gpu later and was exited to learn that you also had a tutorial coming out on that as well! Thank you

Chris, I upgraded my system this past January, I went from a MSI 760GM-P35 to a MSI B450 Gaming Max Plus. I went with the Ryzen 5-5600G and 4 sticks of 4GB DDR4 memory. added a 250GB M.2 SSD and 2 2TB Hard Drives. I stayed with my original Cooler Master chassis and most of the parts were carry over. was even able to get the TPM module for Windows 11 for less then what I paid for the one on my old board. I took the old AM3 board and put it into another rebuild and have it for backup or will try to sell it. I'm so glad I upgraded... the new system is really nice...

    Vey nice video, as always.
The Ryzen 5 5600G APU only has PCIe 3.0 support, so the M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive will only run at PCIe 3.0 bandwidth. This won't matter for most usage, but going with a less expensive M.2 PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive would save a little bit of money for a budget build.

I like your parts used in the build! I have the 5600G, but need RAM and can start my build. I would like 16GB (8GB x 2) 3600/CL 16 Think crucial brand will do. I might spring for 4 cards, so all the slots are filled. Thanks for the great walk thru!

I found this video very informative. Thank you. However I still have many questions In reference to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600g: Since this is relatively new CPU how can I know which motherboards are compatible? (What is said in specs is sometimes misleading.) How would I know weather I have to have an older CPU to upgrade this to my new motherboard? How would I know if all I have to do is flash bios of new motherboard. Can I flash a MB without the CPU in board. I research motherboards and it would appear that maybe a lot of them might work. All of this is daunting if you only build a computer every 7 to 10 year. If you have not guessed by now, I need help. Or maybe I am beyond help. lol. Possible point me in the right direction would be appreciated. BTW I love your organized and efficient work environment. What computer wouldn't want to live there.

Basicly any motherboard with out the flash feature will need a older cpu but luckily amd has this thing where you submit a form showing your 5000 series cpu and am4 socket motherboard and they send you a I think athlon 200ge and then once your done upgrading the motherboard bios you send it back do you need the link?

I'm considering picking these parts and following your guide, which is very detailed, and since I have no know how on PC building whatsoever. I have one question, though, if my next upgrade in a couple of years would be to add two more 8Gb sticks, and an RTX 3060, which is supposedly the best choice with this CPU, would that work?

I wonder how well this setup would run Ubuntu. Would I be getting all the gpu performance or would it be undetected by linux?
I haven't used Windows this century, so I don't know if it's finally amazing or not.
My current mini-pc (Zotac CI327) doesn't have enough oomph anymore.
I liked the Zotac because it was silent. But now I think I have the right work area setup that a little fan noise wouldn't be so bad.

Hi I have already purchased all of the parts for my computer but the seller says I have to update the bios for Ryzen 5000, so can I run the computer without the update? Or is is absolutely essential to do it?
