I like how long you took on 2s first stage, we got to appreciate how blocky they made Olmec, not that he had much shape in the first place
I played TONS of spelunky classic, so I’m tempted to say that one was my favorite but I think spelunky HD was the best

In games, theres almost always a iconic bossfight in the series that isnt the final boss, Olmec is one of them.

For some context of the skipped 3rd phase. When he stomps once, he opens his mouth to let loose ufo’s, then for every other stomp. You can cheese it by holding him up the left wall, always destroying one ufo.
Dis mans takes 2 minutes to get spelunky 2 olmec to the second floor it takes me 2 minutes to beat em...on a good day

Olmec looks so easy in spelunky classic but I can’t confirm it because the furthest I’ve gotten are the ice caves in spelunky classic. But I CAN confirm that it’s easy (for me) on spelunky hd and spelunky 2.

@@Skyewardbound except Olmec in classic will kill you in one hit while he is moving, regardless of whether or not he crushed you. to compensate, he only moves 1 tile at a time

They changed phase 2 of the fight so that the thrusters have 1 HP and he only fires when the player is under him
They got off the feature on spelunky 2 where u could just chill on top of Olmec while they bomb everything below them.
yeah, unfortunately. That made it pretty easy though
@@KYGaming100 that's true. I only recently learned some sort of technique to defeat Olmec rather than just skip the boss fight, but the middle stage is the deadliest for me 😂
I think for a video like this you should have shown Olmecs phase 3 in Spelunky 2 and not just kill him right out of phase 2. What's the point of this video if you don't properly show off all the changes you know?
this video was made very close to when the game just came out, and so the person didn’t know much about how to beat show off olmec
Why did you do random stuff in the olmec fight for spelunky 2? For the other 2, you seemed to get right to finishing it. But for the last one, you made him flatten a bunch more terrain than necessary and seemed to explore extra. Kinda inconsistent.

I've noticed, and i'm pretty sure everyone else has noticed, but in spelunky 2, I've noticed omlec's gem is missing. I've always wondered why that was so, is it just game design, or a piece of detail that led to this that I missed, or something else?
it seems that without the gem in Olmec’s head, there are no enemy spawns during the fight

I think this is an impostor Olmec created by the Olmites from Neo Babylon with their tecnology, since in the first games he wass the final boss of a run because he was responsable for "Olmec's Curse" wich was the curse that made the walls shift and all of that. This one doesn't have magical powers, and it's more of a robot replica without the magical gem
@@turn.103 looking at your comment just got me thinking, what if the Olmites created the first Olmec like a robot as well, however with more magical properties like you stated, afterwards they created a more technologically advanced form of Olmec however something blocked the Olmites to imbue it with magical capabilities like the last one, thus the lack of a gem.
It is no doubt the Olmecs and Olmites are related in a way, I mean just look at their body shape, It’s like how humans would create mechs with human-like appearances, but a question remains...
