Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers hit back at critics who he accused of treating him "like a novice" as he hailed the mentality of his team following a season-defining victory over Rangers.
A 2-1 Parkhead triumph moved Celtic six points and seven goals clear of their rivals with two cinch Premiership matches left.
The champions had lost a seven-point lead over Rangers earlier in the season, but have now moved within a point of glory ahead of Wednesday's trip to Kilmarnock, live on Sky Sports.

As a Celtic fan , we have been average most of the season and Rodgers has rightly been criticised. If we don’t improve next season he will come under the same or more scrutiny. He shouldn’t be giving himself a pat on the back for getting over the line against a poor rangers team this season

You're "shooting the messenger" ! The problem les with Dermot Desmond and PL. That is clear, and carries no ambiguity. They sold all the best players under Ange and reufused to relace them; the usual penny pinching in order to furnish the pockets of DD PL and his shareholders.
Celtic are a rich club, by Scottish sporting standards, with plenty in the bank! Rogers cried out for further support in his first time here, and has made it clear this time that much more financial support is needed to maintain success, and evolve! To make some kind of mark in Europe.
😂This summer wil be the most telling. They spent little last year, and have approximately 70 million in the bank. They'll also have best part of another 60 million from CL money in the new CL format. There will be no excuse this time around for Lawell and Desmond. None!
Try being realistic and shifting criticism in the right direction! In the path of the board who would not, incidentally, show more more ambition when Ange asked for additional support for Europe. That is why Ange left so soon, even though they offered him a massive wage to stay; he knew Desmond and Lawell lacked ambition, and that they were there for one core purpose: to boost shareholding.
Well, they certainly did that last year! Desmond has had his time with his personal"toy" and the high profile that comes with Celtic. The club needs new blood, and a new vision. This can still be done in a sensible was without ridiculous over-spending (a familiar excuse from Lawell and DD for a lack of funds being directed into the team for two or three playersof quality). Itis time after recent decades for them to move on. That much is clear.
Agreed PL and DD are the biggest problem at Celtic. Btw I do think Rodgers is the best man for the job. But we’ve been rightly criticised for drab football for large parts of the season.

Why’s that, because we criticise a man who walked out on us in the middle of a league title for Leicester city? Or for the dross served up for much of this season? Short memories. Rangers have bottled it, otherwise this would be going right to the wire here. We have been Bang average at best this season. im a Celtic fan and Brendan has deserved his fair share of criticism but all in all i think it's fair to say we a draw a line under it from next season, where he can be judged fairly. If he stays hes got my support.

We told you how rotten it was for about 18 months before he was sacked by Leicester, he had over 250m spent by the club during his 4 years on player signings and the 100m training facilities, we had an amazing 2 years when he arrived, he took over from possession football Puel and unleashed the players to attack quickly and decisively, but then Rodgers ball started getting implemented more and more and we got worse and worse, and he dug his heels in and refused to change. Players like Ndidi who were genuinely 60m players (for about 18 months he had the best CDM stats in Europe, even beating Kante on interceptions and tackles) turned into championship fodder. Players declined massively and by the end we couldn't wait to get rid of him. Rumours suggest he cost the club 50m for his contract+bonuses+compensation.
This is one of many differences between us and them. One of our closest supporters (Sutton) isn't afraid to criticise. Meanwhile, across the city, the pundits blow smoke up the arse of Lord Baldymort.

Neil Lennon was very successful at Celtic and then got Bolton relegated from the Championship. You can't brag about managerial credentials in the SPL. It cannot be taken seriously at all.

Mega funds would make no difference. The best players will never choose Celtic. The model has to be picking up good young players (the carrot being playing in the CL), developing them for a couple of seasons and then making a good profit on their sale. We should aim to be an Ajax. Capable of competing well in the CL group stages and getting to the next level on a regular basis.

So mostly we can beat the rest without being stretched that much. The minute we go into Europe we find it challenging af. We simply don't get challenged enough domestically to harden us for European competition.

Listen Brendan, the ONLY REASON that you are ahead of Rangers on points, is because Clement started 4 and half months into the season with a complete and utter shambles of a team that Beale left behind, and a 7 points deficit. Since Clement took over Rangers, they won the League Cup, their in the final of the Scottish Cup and he's won more points than Rodgers and Celtic. Considering Rodgers had brought in the players that he wanted, had a pre-season with them, and only going to win the league because he had a 7 points start. If Clement had been able to bring in who he wanted and had a pre-season with the squad, he obviously would of beat Rodgers and Celtic because he already has. He's won more points than Rodgers and Celtic since he came in after 4 and half months, so Celtic and Rodgers were EXTREMELY LUCKY that Michael Beale destroyed the Rangers squad before he came in, otherwise the proof is in the pudding, and that is that Rangers have won more points with Clement than Celtic has with Rodgers. Its not Celtic or Rodgers fault that Rangers let Beale destroy the squad, but if Clement has won points than Rodgers, then Rodgers and Celtic have been extremely lucky that Beale wasn't sacked earlier!!! Clement has won a cup, and if he wins the final for the 2nd cup, along with winning more points than Rodgers in the league, THEN CLEMENT IS CLEARLY MANAGER OF THE YEAR!!!
