- With the increased interest in DE shaving, guys are looking for a variety of tools, methods, and shaving products to help give them a close, comfortable shave. One tool seen everywhere on Amazon.com is the shaving bowl. thee can range in price from ten dollars all the way p and beyond thirty dollars.
A great inexpensive alternative is to shop your local Goodwill or thrift store. In this video, I show how I was able to get a wonderful variety of shaving bowls from local Goodwill and Thrift stores for a dollar each!
If you really would ater buy a new shaving bowl, then check out The Shave Stop at astore.amazon.com/deshaving-20. We have a wonderful shaving bowl that is highly rated by amazon shoppers and available at a reasonable price.
You can cut a coconut in half, clean it up and have an awesome shave bowl for about $1

I used a wire brush with a power drill to clean up my coconut and polyurethane to clear coat.
I’m a face lather guy first and foremost. I bowl-lathered about 5 times total and I’ve noticed when I do bowl lather my lather is real airy And fluffy. When I face lather I feel I’m in more control of how to produce the right lather that I desire. Some ppl just paint it in after they Bowl lather but don’t you have to still work it into your beard? Idk I’d like to try it more every now and again but can’t seem to be good at it. Plus my wrist be getting cramped and locked up when I’m swirling lol
Agree, Mike Rose.:) I prefer face lathering. I bowl lather [pretty much only when using creams. But there are exceptions.:) Your reason for face lathering are along the lines of my reason for face lathering.:)
I'm right there with you.
@Mark Szorady
Looks like this is the video that changed your channel forever.
Roderick, when the channel first started, I did not appear on camera. I worked my way up to that rather slowly.
I buy Ceramic bowls in asian grocers. They are porous and cheap less than five bucks and the rough texture makes them lather better than anything else :D
Are these similar to the rice bowls I see online?
i use a shallow ceramic bowl that a neighbor was giving away with other house wear items because she was moving.
I just did this too. I got a bowl the size of the second one for $1.25 at Dollarama
Nice. It need not cost a lot of money.:)
Did the blue color faded on aluminium bowl?
In Your Backwards Bowl still looks great!
I did not have much luck trying to lather in a smooth bowl such as those you show. However, I have a plastic bowl from Arby's loaded curly fries which has some ridges in the bottom and it works well.
The second bowl (white ceramic) works wonderfully well! I use it every morning. I'm able to work up a nice lather. I think if you start with a god quality soap, you'll get god results. Give Pacific Shaving's Caffeinated Shave cream a try. Also, Creams or soaps form The Art of Shaving line work REALLY well. make sure to add a few drops of water to help build the lather.
i agree though, Ribbing in bowl helps.:) My next acquisition will be a ribbed lathering bowl.:)
I bought a very small food bowl from asda (UK) for a £1 and tried using it but the cream i got with my brush is rubbish but it smells nice so i am gonna get some sandalwood shaving cream as it is very good from videos i have seen and very popular as it has well over a thousand reviews at 5 stars
Hope this new cream works for you.:)
@@MarkSzorady hopefully it does
