Highlights of our trip to the Nurburgring in April '18, with onboard footage from the 306 GTi-6 and Clio 197. Checkout the FWD sideways fun and "the biggest moment of your life"...
What fun. I had a GTi-6 before my Clio III 200. Discounting age and reliability it's hard to say which I prefer more. Interesting to see how close a match they are on track!
I've loved cars for awhile, but it took so long to appreciate what a riot it is driving small FWD cars. Not a lot of feelings quite like applying throttle to correct oversteer. Awesome vids!
Nice to see some serious hatch back trashing.... Takes me back to ripping nova gte's and clios about. I find fwd hatchbacks so much fun on the limit.. Once you've mastered lift off oversteer you can throw them into any corner flat out... Lift off, kick out then floor it out of the corner. The 306 and clio both look so much fun to drive. Drive it like you stole it. 👍🏻
Loving your mate driving that Clio he cracks me up the way he shifts the wheel on the corners wrestling for control. The track did look greasy that day, and these were some of your best clips a real good laugh 😆

@@CamberandCombustion unless you plan on getting a cage in that car, don't. Or at least leave the stock seat belt. Sports seats don't crumble in an accident, and if the roof of your car is pushed in, it will break your neck, because the seat and sports belts will keep your body straight.
This is hos you drive! 😁 love it guys. Those are some super fun cars your driving. Throw in wider rubber and diffen rear even more to maintain the easy rotating and you go sub 8 in no time. The fun is the whole point I get it, but it's also fun to chase times once in a while. If you want a really fast dirt cheap nurburgring car besides the obvious ones, try a forester gt/turbo. Slap an sti turbo on the for 300 euros, get it roadtuned and boom 300hp. Coils and super stiff rear arb and your going fassst! :)
I had both back in time. Clio liked to slide from time to time and handled like a gokart. But 306 was a damn FWD drift machine. Both were fast on straight for the times and power. Had some 300hp+ cars over years. Very few compares to these to when driving mad in terms of fun. Power is not the key to fun. It's the liveness in which 306 gti6 Was and remains the king. Clio was more agile, nippy and happy to accelerate. But 306 was a state of art adrenaline generator, like they new what they were doing. Or could it be a coincidence?
do you left foot brake to induce the oversteer, or u overlap the throttle to move brake bias to the rear and slow the rotation while not in danger of spinning out as u floor the throttle?
Always a pleasure watching you guys. Just out of curiosity...are you running smaller FARB with a larger rear to get so much oversteer? Doesn't seem any lift off the throttle . Thankyou for the energy boys and get them roll cages in ( if you haven't already)👊
Both cars were running standard ARBs (The 197 doesn't have a rear ARB as standard). The 306 had 21mm rear torsion bars, bilstein B8 dampers and Eibach springs. The 197 was running Cup dampers and H&R springs. Both cars have playful chassis as standard
@@CamberandCombustion playful? A bit like a gorilla is playful? 🙈. I'm dumbstruck at the control.....can I ask you for tips on handling for my cars, RX8, and an R53 mini? Would be just advice....cheers
thats why they called "hot hatches" !!! and the reactions are the best,i'm laughing my arse off sitting here... good job guys! i hope to see more of this! and please dont crash the GTI-6 🙏 did u have any mods on the engine of the 306? camshafts, full exhaust or some sort? it sounds very happy in high rpm's!? peace!
Haha thank you bud, we're glad you enjoyed the antics ❤️🙌🏻 We'll try our very best not to crash the 306 😅 No major mods on the 306 other than a K&N replacement panel filter and a catback exhaust for this video. It is a healthy engine 👍🏻
Oui enfin ça a quand même la réputation d'être survireur et pour en avoir conduit une et attaquer avec je confirme dès qu'on relâche en courbe l'arrière deleste bien.
Camber and Combustion u should try the saab 900 turbo, theyre soo reliable to go track then on road. but if u do get one i advice to rebuild first before doing so.
Guys please i need help, yesterday with my 13 ford fiesta diesel 75 hp i had three people with me and the car did some stupid all wheel drift in mid corner, it was a big sweeper at 120km/h in 4th gear, i kicked the steering a bit to adjust but i almost hit the wall, my tires are old but they have a bit of life left in them ithink i will change them at the end of the summer, can you please explain what may have caused that drift and how can i prevent it, excpt slowing down haha, i never had a all wheel drift situation before so this was inexpected
ssllhh100 These are the first things that come to mind... Lifting off the accelerator mid corner can cause this, even slightly if you were close to the limits of grip when turning in. When lifting the weight of the car tends to shift more over the front wheels and less over the rear wheels reducing grip at the rear and hence causing the car to slide. A change in road surface or hitting debris could have reduced grip mid corner which would lead to more of a 4 wheel drift scenario rather than just the rear sliding out. If you’ve got different tyre brands on each axle or each corner of the car this can reduce handling predictability. Ultimately, this may not be the answer you were looking for but by reducing corner entry speed you will avoid the need to lift mid corner and also reduce the risks associated with experiencing changes of road surface mid corner.
im not an expert about this stuff but it looks extremely dangerous, waaaay too close to the wall in some places, wouldnt sit in the car with neither of you. but hell its fun to watch, subscribed.
Looks fun, I like your videos! But Nordschleife isn’t a racetrack where you can play around like this. Crash can cause dead especially in those little fast shitboxes. sam seville The 306 has a slight straightline advantage!

306 has a cat-back exhaust and the Clio has a stainless steel exhaust manifold, apart from that yes both stock!

I wanted to avoid hitting a cat in my 7.5 gti and I literally went sideways 😂 idk what’s up with fwd cars they tend to go sideways like that
