You can tell he’s an engineer and not a marketing guy. He is honest about the trade-offs inherent in any design.
can tell hes more of an engineer than a gym goer which is fair to be honest. Feel like marketing had a say in making starting weight 2kg, he seems to have wanted a heavier starting weight.
Exactly - the engineering/ethical mindset of an engineer simply doesn't allow one to speak pure marketing bs

As a Swedish engineer myself; he’s a very typical swede. Very upfront and no nonsense.
@@EJH-jn6mo Don't worry, they're great. I've been using them four days a week for three years. No problems. If you take care of your stuff, it will last a long time. Like he said, probably not 30 years. But, they now sell replacement parts.

I think their selling point should be the servicibility and spare part availability
Watch "gluck's gym" video on the nuobells first. He fully explains several reasons why nuobells WILL fail. So be informed before you buy.
@@LithuanianATL They are not serviceable. When the cam followers inevitably break you have to replace the entire handle. If they WERE serviceable for a reasonable price I wouldn't be so hard on them. But IMO they are simply too fragile and too expensive to fix for what they cost.

I’ve had the original Nuobells for almost 3 years. No issues. Just place them down and don’t drop them. I also appreciate the honesty of the engineer.
I hate feeling like I'm being sold something, and the fact that that guy didn't try to sell me his product and instead gave me facts made me want to buy it lol.
It's refreshing to see a company admitting to the flaws in their products and working to fix them.

This guy is incredible. So honest and reflected. Awesome. The new dumbbells look great. Although I must say I have been using the v1 almost daily for 4 years now and they are still as good as new. Work perfect.

Great to hear that they're making durability improvements to the original handles. If I ever break mine and need to get replacements, it's nice to know I'll be getting a better version. Such a breath of fresh air to hear from a no BS engineer.
I hope they keep this guy in the booth for future interviews. Love the honesty, engineering focus, but I hope his honesty doesn't get him in trouble at the home office for speaking with Coop vs somebody more marketing focused.

Honesty is the key in Nordic countries, marketing/commercials some times even point out their own flaws just because it's better to be honest than not to, pure and simple.

I saw the video and started sweating since I just bought the 80lbs set. Glad I did though, love them so far and I'm glad to see someone represent the brand so well. You can tell he isn't a sales man and was the brains behind it. Refreshing to see as an engineer.

I have the first gen in my home gym (set it up during covid) and I'm still blown away by how awesome they are. Best investment I've ever made in my gym and myself. This gen 2 looks even better. But literally no need for me. The max 80 lbs is more than enough for my needs right now.

Got NuoBells 1.0 and still holding up great after 2 years
Gotta love the honesty. The majority of the population (even fitness population) isn't putting up heavy weights so I get why the low start weight is important.
Kind of disagree. Their target market would be different.
If a light start weight was the goal, I don't understand why they would go up to 90lbs. That makes sense for a 50lb type set.

a very honest guy. It's true you can easily replace the handle - I just did it with my Nüobell and its like new. a piece inside broke after 1,5 years of regular use. My dealer gave me the handle for free. still happy with Nüobell.

20 plus years with Powerblock 50lb in a garage gym setting. Still going strong. A little beat up but they just work. Always looking at new stuff though. Keep up the good work Coop!
It is a simpler mechanism, I worry about some of these newer ones, if they'll hold up over time.

I have been using my nuobells almost every day for two years in Japan. I have never had a problem with at all. They are best adjustable dumbbells you can get here for a decent price that are not chinese junk.
