      It is a bit strange, it did happen in some battles, like Agincourt and the battle of the gulder spurs where the lightly armored troops kept their mobility and by doing so had the upper hand against the heavily armored knights.
      It all depends on what counters light infantry for it to make sense.
      Maybe archers counter light infantry and are countered by heavy infantry.
      It could also be a balance issue maybe heavy infantry just counters too many unit types otherwise, it could easily counter, light infantry, light horses, archers and pikeman.
      Which would make it an auto pick almost every time.

    • @ParadoxGrandStrategy
      @ParadoxGrandStrategy  Před 3 lety +12

      If you go bankruptcy, your ruler won't be able to declare wars, you have a major military advantage penalty in battles, negative county modifiers and such. Of course, you won't be able to pay ransoms, buy buildings and others things. There are ways to get gold depending on the Decisions available or even sell out titles, ransom prisoners, discard Men-at-Arms, lower maintenance costs, increase taxes from your Vassals, etc...

  • @IsilionNELE
    @IsilionNELE Před 3 lety

    At one point you talk about the variable cost of men-at-arms as raised versus unraised, but at another point you phrase it as peacetime versus wartime. Those 2 are not synonyms. I assume you can raise them during peacetime as well (for raiding for example, or defending against raiders), and you can also choose not to raise them during war.
    So which statement in the video was wrong? Or are both modifiers which can both affect the cost?
    Also, since men-at-arms (CK3's version of retinues) need to be raised, does this imply you can't declare war with them raised? Unlike in CK2 where your retinues would already be ready at the border before a declaration of war.
