@@JinoBeats Yeah and that's great and all, but he only get's three original stages (which are just altered versions of already existing ones) and the way they teased him in this trailer really made it look like we were going to get to fight Shadow along with Chaos.
This game had probably one of the best plot devices for a story, the Phantom Ruby, and left it so underused. For example, instead of unique twisted levels left corrupted by the Ruby, we got Zavok, Green Hill, and Chemical plant again.
I agree. I just wish the trailer was more promising. This game could have been a thing to hype over.

Like we could’ve seen destroyed versions of zones instead of it being copy and pasted like imagine a destroyed chemical plant or green hill with a much of fire and explosions that would’ve been amazing to see and we see the phantom ruby corrupt some of the stages

Exactly, this trailer makes Sonic Forces seem like an epic, intense game with a cool story and lots of action, when it wasn't.
Frontiers trailers can easily be manipulated in the same way to make that game look like a beautiful expansive open world Sonic game with an interesting plot, even though it's not.
In my experience, good trailers tend to not paint a *super* accurate picture of the game, but rather show the best LOOKING parts to epic music and make you wonder how it all plays out, which makes you curious and want to see more. The marketing for Forces was actually really good, it just sucks that the game didn't live up to it.
Good sound design also goes a LONG way in making it more appealing. This trailer is full of little gadget sounds that are oddly satisfying to listen to, combined with the really good music in the background that lines up with the beautiful CGI animations and effects, it all just looks and sounds so cool.
@@SilverDusk1 Yeah, it's such a good trailer, so good that it's *almost* kind of a ripoff, like just on the edge, probably intentionally, but they could get away with it because technically Chaos was in the game, so it's legally not false advertising, but the expectations it created compared to what we got is basically a ripoff.
If you really want to be cautious, don't buy it at launch

Sadly, the game was pretty much the same scenario as Sonic 06; a game that showed a lot of ambition and potential, and the trailers for both games were really hype, just to be incredibly under-cooked due to rushed development. Both games could've been one of the most definitive Sonic experiences of all time, and did not pan out.
I'd even argue that Sonic 06 shows more of it's potential in the final product than Forces did, because it at least feels like *something* is there, Forces just feels so soul-less, and goes to show that amazing ideas don't automatically make a game good. Fingers crossed that Sonic 2022 (which seems to be confirmed to be called "Sonic Frontiers" since Sega just put out a patent for the name) is great, and lives up to its' full potential.

Fun fact, technically 06 didn't happen in canon.
At the very end of the game sonic goes back in time and destroys the evil thing before the events of the game causing said events to not happen. I actually got kinda confused when an 06 level showed up in Generations; not only does everyone want to forget the game happened, but the writers even put an in-world explanation that lets future games completely ignore it.
screeno42 Well there's two potential reasons for Crisis City in Generations:
1. There's a Crisis City in Silver's new timeline seen in Rivals
2. The timeline doesn't "exist" but it can still be accessed by the Time Eater like a chronal Recycle Bin.

In my opinion, the cutscenes In this trailer should have been in the game.
1. The way Classic Sonic comes out of the portal ties in with the ending of Mania as opposed to him running out of the portal in the final game.
2. In this trailer the terrain is uneven so the enemies stand on higher ground making them feel powerful but in the final game they’re on the same level of ground as you making them seem like not much of a threat!!
3. The way Infinite is portrayed in this is a villain that doesn’t really need to talk or introduce himself and he seems SOO powerful in the trailer and seems like nobody could even come close to him. But, in the game he comes across as a wannabe edgy guy.

Adefra Zf I sorta agree. I thought shadow became to be very mentally powerful that he can't be mind controlled. But who knows, maybe he will be the first to break free from the powers if this is even the case.
Maybe he isn't the Shadow from the present, but the one from Sonic Adventure 2.

In a nutshell, it's a timeline in which Sonic wasn't around to stop Eggman. Therefore, it'd be a timeline in which Chaos and Shadow didn't run into Sonic, and thus didn't change for the better.
Crust Waters they came from their own timeline that already has him. Shadow though may not know who sonic is.
The best way I can describe this game is this:
Sonic Forces is a collection of fan-made movie scenes stitched together with simple, interactive moments with a near-insultingly low skill-ceiling.
What sold me on this game was Sonic for the first time since before Colors, was actually serious and took Eggman as a threat once again... until the actual game came out and Sonic started joking and having friendship speeches....
@@jayceyaboi But the serious Sonic games are what really made the Sonic franchise awesome. The Sonic Adventure games and Sonic 06’s stories were really good and the serious story telling is what made the game intense and really interesting.

Back then when the previous voice actor for sonic and the rest of the crew, their role were serious and actually saving the world but when it comes to the current actor for sonic and the rest it’s just corny jokes and friendship just like the fast and the furious franchise when the movie is all about family.

Sonic team is trying to please their entire fanbase with a single game and the antagonist just looks like a mash of edgy-antagonist tropes... only... with cubes?
That said, Sonic generations really helped get the series back on it's feet and I like the look of chaos.
Who knows, maybe I'm not giving Sonic team enough credit, let's see where this goes.

This game had so much potential. It could've essentially been "Sonic Generations but better" but instead, it was Sonic Generations but worse. And honestly, I feel like this is a case where a bad sequel devalues the original. (Even though it's not directly Sonic Generations 2, but it's a spiritual successor)
I feel like the game should've been at least 8 hours long and have hub worlds. The story had a big scope, so live up to it, give it enough time to breathe, and have hubs to further immerse us into the world and make it feel more like we're actually fighting for something. We should've had boss fights against ALL of the villains instead of just Zavok, Metal Sonic, and the 2 main villains; Infinite, and Eggman. Heck, if they had used Chaos Emeralds in this game, that would've been a good excuse to have 2 boss fights against Chaos, being Chaos 0, and Chaos 5. (We never got to see Chaos 5 right?) And even though it is a bit cliche, for such a high stakes plot, the final boss should've had us fight Infinite as Super Sonic inside of Null Space, especially considering there was an image from a magazine of Infinite inside of Null Space, which never actually happened in-game.
I also feel like Modern Sonic's levels should've been entirely 3D, and NOT just be hallway simulator. I felt like it would've been interesting for Modern to be fully 3D, Classic to be fully 2D, and the Avatar to be mostly 3D with some 2D sections, and the Tag Team could also be fully 3D. Heck, since the airboost for Sonic was so OP, it would be great if we could actually utilize that. They could've had some platforming sections where the platforms are really far apart above a death pit, and you have to take advantage of your airboost. There should also be more Tag Team stages since that felt like such an underutilized gameplay mechanic.
I also don't mind the fact that the game re-used stages from old Sonic games, but I would've rather have seen some more picks that you wouldn't expect, or more unpopular stages return such as Red Mountain from SA1.
This game was sadly the same scenario as Sonic 06; a game that showed a lot of potential, but didn't get to fully utilize it because of rushed development. I'd even say that more of 06's potential shows in the final product because it at least feels like *something* is there, most people agree that you can see the potential 06 had, but Forces felt so soul-less in execution, and goes to show that having amazing ideas doesn't automatically make a good game. Fingers crossed that Sonic 2022 (which seems to be called "Sonic Frontiers" since Sega just put out a patent for the name) will be good and live up to its' full potential.

Very exciting trailer, and it's great to see Chaos in his original form again in such good quality. The new villain looks great, and you can tell he's evil just by looking at him, and the whole "cube" thing is fairly intimidating the way it's presented.
My only hope is that this villain has mind-controlled the 4 shown before him. Shadow would most likely side with Sonic in this situation, as the world is being destroyed and such. You'd think Shadow's PTSD with Maria or something would make him not aid this strange cube villain. That, or he's giving Shadow an offer he can't refuse. Either way, very exciting trailer, and I'm certainly picking this game up.

no this is jodi true that, I enjoyed that little story arc, cause maybe all the characters made a deal with Infinite. Metal to get rid of Sonic, Chaos to become almighty, and Zavok to feed on the Worlds Energy, and Shadow for Maria. At first I was surprised to see Silver on the Heroes side but I remembered how he wanted to change the future and it's happened so now he's helping keep that peaceful future a thing.
If you thought of it, It's because if the classic Sonic in their he or his friend would never of reminded him of what Maria wanted, but all this will be undone when classic Sonic returns to his own time.
