Dame Edna quote "Said a few lovely things to him paid him a few compliments, but you know, there isn't any compliment you pay John that he hasn't paid himself". LOL classic subtle burn
There have actually been several. She was first played by Madeleine Orr for quite some time, but sadly she died of cancer and Madge disappeared for a while. I think her wishes were that the character carried on so Barry created a story line where Madge had several plastic surgery operations and between each was played by a different short term actress. The final time Madge took off the bandages was when she was played by Emily Perry, who went on to become the Madge we all know and love.
@@dameednaeveragetheofficial6731 thanks for clarifying that Dame! I knew of you in Hong Kong even over 20 years ago and I have been living in London since 2006 and was luckily on one of the filming of your Dame Edna treatment. I witnessed your humor, quick wit and kindness toward your audience. I wish you well and healthy and can continue to bring us joy and laughters.
I was on the verge of feeling ashamed about the incredible fact that this videos are the first exposure to her talent I've had, I simply did not know about her. But the happiness I am getting because of her comes from timeless places, so there is no time to feel ashamed. She is simply unique. Sui generis.
There are people not even born yet who will discover Dame Edna in fifty years time. The most important thing is that we enjoy the work that remains. Barry would want us to laugh and smile.
We will never see such a talent like Dame Edna again. The world is a sadder place without her. RIP Dame Edna, Sir Les and Sandy Stone, but none of these people would have been around, with out the massive talent of Barry Humphries.
now more than ever this year 2020 , we need to see dame edna everage to make us laugh , its medicine for me , i adore graham norton .please have dame edna back , we miss her
Still makes me sad when Madge died.I was very young when I first saw Dame Edna and Madge on the telly back in the 70"s .I wonder where Sir Les is these days.
I imagine sir Les got sprung in some awful compromising position and perhaps lost his role as an Australian diplomat... Or was given a raise which is more likely.
Just sad ... the first time I saw Dame Edna as a kid was on Parkinson ... my lovely late father .... " what a man in a womens dress ... no way" .... within 10 minutes he was laughing more than I have ever seen him do .... RIP Barry ... you will be missed more than you will ever know💌
Lol, I lived on the same floor as Josh at uni about a million years ago, wasn't expecting that 🤣 The girl before I think I knew at uni too, pretty sure her name was Cally. OH NOSTALGIA.
Theres a barge on the Rochdale Canal at Hebden Bridge called Marge the Barge whenever I see it reminds me of the Dame Edna Experience series when Madge gave the guests namebadges most memorable ones for me being Chuck for Charlton Heston and Bet for Lauren Bacall
@Ivy Mossgarden she was born Betty Perske but changed it to Bacal when her parents divorced Warner Brothers gave her the name Lauren Bacall but she didn't like it.
Most comedians i think are scripted with their wit on the stage & screen. In person; not so funny. Dame is quick witted on the spot funny. No script needed.
New to British comedy scene? Their comedians are required to be witty or they won't be invited into panel shows as panelist (not "dictionary corner" guest).
We lost 2 legends today. Barry and Dame Edna, there will never be anyone like them. Rest in Peace.❤️🌹
PaulO’Grady,Jerry Springer ,Len Goodman,Dame Edna who is Barry?

"Does your mother know you've got her cardigan?" Hahahaha that is low-key shady but I love it 🤣🤣

Genuine genius 😂
Genius of a man and a fine dame too!
Mrs. Doubtfire would have been a good partner for Dame Edna. They would have made a fantastic duo.

In fact Robin Williams admits in an interview that he based Mrs. Doubtfire partially on Dame Edna.

The new Madge was great was she really picked by chance or was it a setup?
I think it was probably a setup.
Definitely a set-up.
@@carolinewiggins2803 Yes on reflection it was a set up she was too good 😊

Shame on the Melbourne comedy
Well done Celia. Missing Dame Edna ❤
She was just the funniest woman on TV. Bye bye Barry.
