I saw him in Auckland years ago. And, was included in a bit of his humor. Implying I was a woman of loose morals based on my mini skirt I expect. We laughed and waved gladys.
@@Rogerthatx10ame Edna wasn’t a drag queen! She would’ve been horrified to hear herself being referred to in that completely mundane and vulgar that way! Completely mortified!!!! I never thought of her as “a drag” at all! She is in the tradition of pantomime moreso, than drag. She was a clown. A court jester. A Fabulous, mean and yet sweet fool. There is a soupçon of course of female impersonation in there of course, but somehow it transcends even that because Barry so fully embodies her that it’s this fusion that is pure surrealist art form. Was Les Patterson male drag then? Not really. Humphries’ grotesques were the art of pantomime and caricature through clowning. There was simply no one else even remotely close to his artistry. None of the camp artistes like Danny La Rue, Liberace or any of them even came close. To be able to sustain that character for all those decades and never once phase out of character for a second or give the game away is why it’s so genius. Barry’s sheer stamina was Olympian and athletic.
I love how she pivots from her daughter "disappearing", to scolding the audience for laughing at it, to immediately shilling the story in her new book lol
Dame Edna is the only person that would come onto a show to promote a book and (1) claim it was written by someone else, who has no talent (2) say its rubbish (3) tell everyone her lawyers are pulping it.
What a fabulous talent Barry was , no vulgar , no bad language, no shouting, just plain old hilarity.. Also loved Kate Thornton as a host , what ever became of her , neva see her on Tv now , Shame …
Edna should biogenically freeze her fight so she can re-attach them in her next life because no one else will be able to walk in her shoes. Ever again.
