    Considering the trouble I have with coordinated motion in some Hanayama puzzles, I think the Shuriken would fill my swear jar in under 20 minutes.

    I often find that 3D printed puzzles are a little over printed; like when a plastic screw or pin is used instead of a metal one in sequential discovery puzzles. Sometimes 3D printing every part of a design makes these puzzles look a bit weird. These two are some of the nicest looking 3D printed puzzles I've seen in a long time, the symmetry and simplicity really makes it look more pleasing. Very fun solve to watch!

      @Mr.Puzzle  Před rokem +8

      I agree. I. Am also not a fan of 3d printed puzzles. There are some nice exceptions though!

    Both puzzles were neat, but I prefer the Hexanut. I like dexterity challenges, but not exactly the ones that "would be pretty easy if I just had 6 hands"

  • @xtieburn
    @xtieburn Před rokem +8

    I wonder if you could make a precision metal version of the Hexanut. It may require a little flexibility that metal wouldnt have, but I could only imagine itd increase the satisfaction even more if it was possible.

  • @onedeadsaint
    @onedeadsaint Před rokem +12

    I liked hexanut cause it's more of a sequential discovery puzzle which are my preferred puzzle style.
    shuriken, not so much. I really do not enjoy fiddly puzzles that work great if you have four arms.
    great video!

    The Hexagon is really interesting and very cool concept but it should be made of different material, CNC out of steel maybe, that screeching noise made my ears bleed, almost. otherwise, very cool.

    I ordered both of these puzzles and wanted to try to solve them before watching the video to compare my process with yours. I'd say we had a similar approach to the first puzzle, but you figured it out quicker than I did. For the 2nd puzzle, the solution is right there. It just really is all about the coordinated motion and having them exactly aligned. I was able to get it in about 20min, but my approach was slightly different. I put each pair in one by one around the circle first, to make sure I could get them in the exact places, so I had the motion first with 2 places and then 3, etc. By the time I was putting in the last position, it was pretty fidgety still to move them together, but I think doing it one by one in order helped get them closer to the exact position needed to get them all at once.

    I'm still trying to solve a 4-piece Hanayama metal puzzle... since late 2018 😅. I specifically disassembled it with my eyes closed to make it more difficult... and it worked. There is a Mr. Puzzle video with the solution, I've been able to resist watching it so far. I try solving it once every few months thinking I'd have a new perspective on how to approach it but... nope.

    Most such puzzles use coordinated motion during the final assembly. Given this is *not* the solution for the hexanut, I wonder if the hexanut would be more challenging if it arrived disassembled.

    • @TheE9climber
      @TheE9climber Před rokem +2

      You can‘t produce a complicated shape like this much cheaper than with 3D printing. Each probably less than 1$ material cost

    • @ezion67
      @ezion67 Před rokem

      @@TheE9climber Machine time also adds to the cost. And these shapes are not that complicated to cut and glue. If you make just one or two, sure print it, if you make 50 there is almost always a better way to do it than 3d printing.
