In this video I walk you through 3 simple steps to learn the difference between /æ/ Vs /a:/. These 2 English vowel sounds are incredibly difficult to differentiate and I hear people confusing the 2 all the time. It’s essential for both your English Speaking and English Listening to be able to tell the difference between both sounds. The reason why they are so difficult for so many people is that most languages don’t contain both of these sounds.
I break the video into 2 parts:
I start by giving you 3 simple steps to learn the difference between both sounds. Then I give you 5 sets of minimal pairs - words that are pronounced exactly the same apart from the vowel sound which is either /æ/ or /a:/. By giving you minimal pair examples, you get to see how both words sound, when they use the different sounds.
It’s a very practical tutorial with highly effective exercises. If you put in the practice then you will make a big important improvement in your English pronunciation and English speech.
