Gallon Jug Destruction! .458 Winchester Magnum vs 30-06 Springfield!

- In today’s video, I’m shooting two one-gallon jugs filled with water at 50 yards. I shoot one with a Winchester Model 670 chambered in 30-06, and I shoot the other with a Winchester Model 70 Safari Express chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum. (I know I treat the gun reveal like a bit of a secret in the video, but I ultimately decided to include it in the title and description anyway).
Impact shots are shown in both real time land slow motion.
30-06 ammunition: 180 grain Remington Core-Lokt PSP (which I now know to mean “Pointed Soft Point” and not “Partial Soft Point”)
Speed: 2,700 fps at the muzzle
Energy: 2,913 ft-lbs at the muzzle
.458 Winchester Magnum ammunition: Norma Ammunition Professional Hunter Series loaded with a 500 grain Swift A-Frame. Speed: 2,116 fps at the muzzle
Energy: 4,972 ft-lbs at the muzzle

Hi! Good to hear from you. I just used a pair of rubber earplugs. They’re purple and called Moldex Rockets.

@@alexfachin5814 I use them all the time on the range and actually used them a little when I hunted deer with the .458 this year. That’s cool that he has a 670 too! You don’t see many of those. Thanks for the kind words.

There is a very big difference. The 458 removed the bottom and the top of the jug in addition to splitting it.
shoot a 55 gallon drum of water than u will see .458 vs 30-06
All that matters is energy dump. Not much difference in the jugs because they dumped similar energies, the difference being the .458 carried on with substantially more energy after hitting the jug.
same bullet as the 460 weatherby the 460 is also a 45 cal not 46

After that day at the range, it did lol. Recoil with that rifle is funny, though. I really notice it at the range; most I want to shoot there is 10 rounds. In the field, however, I don’t notice it at all.
