Two things killed Owen’s career: Injuries and going to RM when they were starting to decline in that infamous Galácticos era. He should have never left Liverpool.

I think you don't really get the concept of making sports(more specifically football videos, especially flashback football) youtube videos, it is extremely hard to find enough data, statistics and clips that are from the 2000s. even though I don't really think it takes that long, but really, show some love.
I'll never forget that goal against Argentina the way he took the ball with that flick and just ran at them was brilliant possibly would have been even better than Rooney in terms of goals if he never got injured.
He had incredible pace and vision at such a young age. A very gifted and highly technical player with various qualities but his lightening speed is the best quality of them all. At his peak, without injuries one of the most feared strikers in the game. He seems to definitely to have issues with temperament and team spirit, not seen many clubs or players speak greatly with regards to his commitment and team work/spirit. I also read he had a gambling addiction, basically seems his life was screwed up with injuries and these addictions, hence couldn't deliver the promise he showed.
The only Liverpool player in history to have won the Ballon d'Or. The fifth all-time England goalscorer. He almost always turned up in the big matches for both England and Liverpool. In his one season with Real Madrid, he had the best goals to minutes ratio of the whole league. It's unfortunate that a combination of injuries and his decision to move to Utd will mean he'll eventually be completely forgotten about. Fernando Torres upset LFC fans by directly moving to Chelsea when they were Liverpool's next game, but even he is remembered more fondly than Owen, who left Liverpool for a tiny fee of £8million with a year left on his contract and eventually moved to Utd. Those who remember, will remember a very special player. For me, Owen at 21 was better than Mbappe is now. In the modern game, he'd probably play as a left winger/forward, like a Mane or Sterling, but I think he'd be better than both. The lad was insanely good and I do find it a shame that he is mostly ridiculed for his commentary rather than being remembered for his incredible achievements up until the age of 25. What a player he was.
A Liverpool legend, cut from the same cloth as Kevin Keenan, Emlyn Hayes and Terry McDonald. All of them developed under the tutelage of the incomparable Bill Starsky.
One of the best videos that I've seen on CZcams between 2007-2021 and I don't even follow football anymore but I still remember Michael Owen and Sami Hyypiä
So underrated and don’t know why he isn’t liked. Just a kid from Liverpool who shook up the world and won the ballon dor deserves more respect. One of the great sights in football was him charging onto a through ball charging towards goal with defenders chasing him.
He’s not from liverpool but I agree. I can explain why though. The Liverpool fans fell out of love with him because he joined Manchester United in his last years, so the team you’d expect him to get most love don’t remember him that fondly. He also joined Newcastle and Real Madrid for big money and big wages but was injured most of the time even though his goal scoring record when he played was still great… so they probably don’t remember him too fondly either. Ironically he’s probably most liked at Manchester United even though he didn’t play too often or score very many because he scored a last minute winner against City as a late substitute.
There're many incredible young talents over the years. But I still believe Michael Owen is the most talented striker ever seen. He is as fearless and clutch as the GOAT of other sports. His instinct on finishing is one of all time great Kids these days discredit and judge him only by statistics. But anyone actually watched Owen played back in the days know how sensational he is. A generational level of talent
Electrifying when he came on the scene. I remember being pissed at Hoddle because he left him out of the first 2 world cup 98 games, I was like wtf is he doing but in hindsight he was probably saving him as a secret weapon for Argentina and what should have been beyond. Great player, much more skilful than people generally realise, the only reason he's not "up there" is because his injuries made him half the player he was from 22/23 years onwards.
Romario is more mature But owen is on par with brazilian ronaldo when they young... Owen is one of my reason start loving liverpool, gerrard is the other.. Now i just love the up and down with liverpool
I like the layout story from his history, achievements as well as reason for his decline in a brief but simple manner without any personal bias, remarkably professional. It was sad to see a legend like him disappear early, retiring to be a shadow of his former glory..
When he was a much slower player at united his off the ball movement was the best of any striker. Very intelligent player. Not sure about his commentary though
Owen was a lot better than Raul, who played regular and only scored 7-8 goals in entire 2004-05 season. I was in 2005-06 pre-season friendly game of Real Madrid. Zidane and Owen were really good together. On the other hand, Raul and Figo were extremely hostile to Owen. Figo was yelling to him and Raul was deliberately not passing. I was disgusted by what I saw.
Ronin 34 agree totally. To this day it still baffles me how Owen was treated at Real Madrid. The fact that Raul was starting over Owen was a joke in itself
@@invicta3461 Talking purely about football, Raul was a different kind of striker than Owen. Him and Morientes were a prolific duo before signing Ronaldo and Owen, and eventually had to make way for the new strikers with bigger names. Hard to say... many young players were great but they got injured or undisciplined etc... so yes i admire his level when he was young but i cancsay that he could be one of the best if stayed long enough... as players like Mbape, Neymar, L. Suarez , showed they there are best and not even mentioning C. Ronaldo and Messi .... like i said the competition in that level is very high and would of been hard to say what he could became... however knowing that England didnt got much at high level than yes his name could be in history as one of the best in England ( and probably is) world is different story
I always reakon he was pushed to much when making the break through ,if he was managed properly and not flogged like a horse he could have achieved even more
It's more about luck. No amount of game management would have prolonged the careers of Owen, Sturridge, Reus and players who are just naturally injury prone.
@@SuperMuneera Some players are sturdier than others, but I also think Liverpool mishandled his early playing career by starting him all the time across multiple competitions. What's worse is that his game is based on pace; beating the last defender by sprinting at top speed, so the strain his hamstrings were under would have been far greater than a target man or other style of forward. Liverpool didn't invest in proper cover for his position and didn't factor in or care about his young age or playstyle, which meant his career sadly got cut short.
Always liked him, also seems to be a very humble guy, feel bad for him about all the injuries, we will never know what he could have done if healthy. Could be argued he was the best 17 year old striker other than Pelé

Steroids are a big part of this.
No one can play a pacey style their entire carreer. C.ronaldo also had to adapt over the years, and those who cant become shadows of their former self.
@@eduardoborges506 Exactly too. Messi as well, great players know their limit and when to slow down and adapt. But poor healthcare is also weakening the body.

When your game is based on pace and pace alone, you’re most likely to peak early.
Owen at his prime was one of best Strikers in the world that is how good he is.
Injuries killed his career but unfortunately runs in his family.
Once the pace went he was never the same
He was JUST an OVERRATED English player with a couple spells during his WHOLE career, ...... apart from that ??? NOTHING really.
Although Owen himself thinks that he was a GREAT player 😂🤣😂🤣
row bronco overrated enough to go to Real Madrid in the galacticos peak! He was in his day one of the best forwards around injuries got the better of him it’s a shame he was lethal.

@@Gblonkers Mmmmh !! That’s right, a salty foreigner telling you the SALTY TRUTH !! 🤣😂🤣 .... Deal with it !!

His goals per minute at Real Madrid were exceptional
He was untouchable.. the best players in history where Owens era and nobody came close to this kid he was unreal.. massively under rated
He was exceptional yes. but Owen's era literally coincides with other genuine greats such as R9 and Henry. Exceptional yes, but not close to being the best of the era.
He was a superb player but didn't score enough goals to be considered one of the best
His game was built around his pace. Once he lost that due to injuries he was never the same. Such a shame he was electric at times.
That's true but it's actually the transfer to Real that kills his career
That's when he starts to slowing down
@@Ultimecea90 he was slowing down before the transfer... remember his hamstring break into 2... no one cant recover from that...his hamstring failed him... lost his pace... striker without pace will be difficult. in addition he never given time to recover, at young age he already played in multiple competition at the same time.. it was too heavy for a young player like him...
@@firdaussyah5297
He recovered from his first major injuries and won the Ballon dor. Hence the transfer to Real as part of galaticos plan
Owen played well during his time there tbh, just that, real went and buy robinho and he lost his place in first 11
Then the transfer to Newcastle, he could've gone to other club but at Newcastle, he broke his leg again
And that's when he slowed down for real
Same thing happened to shearer and I still hate it, sigh
There was even a joke between my classmates that, every strikers that went to Newcastle will bound to broke a leg or two
Anyways, Owen at Liverpool was unplayable, it's the coach fault for letting him go
@Jonathan Lynch
Yup, Owen is more than any fast pace poacher
He's just like Chicarito, sadly his time at United is just few cameos
@@Ultimecea90 i dont know man, hamstring is complex thing... you just never recovered from thing like that... bear in mind, he did not pulled the harmstring... the harmstring was ripped/tored ..... there is no way the harnstring can be same anymore... thus it did affect his pace.. Torres, owen hargreaves was some of the name that suffer with the same injury and look what happened to them.. even he did admit that liverpool play him too much and never let him recovered... and yes he did play decent after the injury. but the pace was not there...
I'll never feel sorry for a footballer...but I come pretty close with Owen. He was one of the top 3 strikers in world football at the age of 20, the closest thing i've seen to Messi in terms of pace, agility, beating players & lethal finishing. I'm not saying he'd have been as good as Messi, but if he'd stayed injury free he would've been the best striker in England's history & probably the Premier League's.
PS great channel.
If my uncle had a vagina he'd be my aunt.
Just like Rooney he had a big weight on his shoulders expected to do it all and when it never came off they were slated great player no doubt if he's body had of kept up he might have beaten Sheerer in all time scoring in the league
@@alanburke8560 yeah i think a big problem for Owen was that he was carrying that Liverpool team & sometimes playing when he wasn't fully recovered because they needed him so badly.
@@sofnaji This comment would be relevant if Owen had never actually become one of the best strikers in the world & won the Ballon Dor at the age of 20/21 before he became injured.
@J C You're right...too many miles on the clock at a young age, & also genetics judging from an interview he did with BT Sport recently.

He's got another channel. Boxing legends tv
Two things killed Owen’s career: Injuries and going to RM when they were starting to decline in that infamous Galácticos era. He should have never left Liverpool.
He was doing quite well in Real Madrid. Going to Newcastle was a huge mistake, because they were past their greatness from early 2000s and injuries did the rest. I agree though he should've never left Liverpool.
@@peterfighter he should play for MU at early day. MU can give him alot trophy.
@@themagicroundabout2528 and yet he still bagged a decent number of goals in la liga, if only something could be done about his hamstrings
@@peterfighter He had no choice but to go to Newcastle. He wanted to go back to Liverpool, but Rafa doesn't. So of the options left, he chose Newcastle, who at that time, had Alan Shearer so it's totally undrstandble.
@@themagicroundabout2528 He was playing better than Ronaldo and Raul in RM. Lol. His goals return as a sub is magnificent. Problem with Galacticos is when idiot Peres asks you to play somebody, you play him. and he wants Ronaldo and Raul to start because they are RM legends. If they started Owen, they'd be winning more. That's also why Owen left after a season, because he realise, no matter how well he's playing, he's not starting.

You're back... after nearly a year of non posting 😂. This channel could be huge. So keep your content & quality frequently posted. Love this channel already 👍🏼
I think you don't really get the concept of making sports(more specifically football videos, especially flashback football) youtube videos, it is extremely hard to find enough data, statistics and clips that are from the 2000s. even though I don't really think it takes that long, but really, show some love.
I just saw the becks one last week and this pops up given me renewed hope 💪 No scorecard at the end of this video tho? 🤔
I'll never forget that goal against Argentina the way he took the ball with that flick and just ran at them was brilliant possibly would have been even better than Rooney in terms of goals if he never got injured.
Brilliant video, brings back the greats which may have been forgotten. Keep up your great work.
"if the ball goes in the back of the net, that's a goal in my eyes" - Michael Owen

This is the same guy from boxing legends TV? Another class channel 👏
Keep them coming!
fantastic content. thank you!
There're many incredible young talents over the years. But I still believe Michael Owen is the most talented striker ever seen. He is as fearless and clutch as the GOAT of other sports. His instinct on finishing is one of all time great
Kids these days discredit and judge him only by statistics. But anyone actually watched Owen played back in the days know how sensational he is. A generational level of talent
I remember watching England’s WC match against Sweden in 2006 when Owen tore his ACL.
Never the same player after that.
Lewis Parker same bro. Crazy days
could see it his face when he twisted - what did i just do? Now this is over.
He had to travel back. Damn
He was selfish because he already knew he was injured but chose to conceal it and play anyway
he is the reason why i am a Liverpool fan since 2003. Thanks for the video to bring me back to the old days.

Electrifying when he came on the scene. I remember being pissed at Hoddle because he left him out of the first 2 world cup 98 games, I was like wtf is he doing but in hindsight he was probably saving him as a secret weapon for Argentina and what should have been beyond.
Great player, much more skilful than people generally realise, the only reason he's not "up there" is because his injuries made him half the player he was from 22/23 years onwards.

mr smith yeah Aguero was a Liverpool fan because our kit is same colour has he’s own team in Argentina.
I like the layout story from his history, achievements as well as reason for his decline in a brief but simple manner without any personal bias, remarkably professional.
It was sad to see a legend like him disappear early, retiring to be a shadow of his former glory..
I can't wait for more videos from this channel
When he was a much slower player at united his off the ball movement was the best of any striker. Very intelligent player. Not sure about his commentary though
He could have been a legend if he stayed at Liverpool instead of going to Real Madrid thinking that he will put Raul and Ronaldo on the bench.
And we know Real Madrid almost always have this vortex of politics along the years.
No, Sven Goran Eriksen "destroyed" Owen. He would put him in game before he recovered 100% and that injury was taking too long.

Ur saying there aren't/weren't any world class strikers from 2010 till now?
@@teekay3468 For sure there are. I would burn in hell if i said the opposite. Just styles are different. So i hope i could explain my point a little bit better now

In the 96th minute of injury time. Although there was only meant to be 95....Fergie time at its finest.
@@rhynouk1 You do know that even in injury time, players waste time by waiting for throw ins, free kicks, and corners. Referees are allowed to add more injury time because of that. Not only that, but when it's time, but there's a possible of a goal, it's given.

Feels bad for him. He was one of the world's best player. Injuries and injuries killed him or else today we would have ended his career on a different level.
One of my favourite players growing up
We need more videos on this channel!
